Chapter- 8. Downfall Of An Era

Pammi who has been waiting for a long, catches on to Babaji's weakness after learning Ridhima's truth.

Here Ridhima visits her office where an introspective recounting of her journey takes place.

Who am I?

"A psychiatrist, an undercover or a performer, before apparently becoming CM" !?

"A psychiatrist who came to the Nashamukti Kendra wearing a mask of an undercover but fate had something else in store and life got upturned and nothing remained the same. I, 'Ridhima' found out her second identity 'Pari' (which is very much like my first) which I had lost back.

I was flabbergasted, hurt, and maddened at the same time. It was burning like a fire inside me. In the hallmark of all the mixed emotions, I managed to pull myself together.

Did I choose this path? No!

Fate chose this for me so I decided not to escape either. The journey became personal and so the route was going to be difficult. It was 'dark' and intolerable. I could not afford to show a single kind of emotion on my face. I did not share my pain with anyone. With the increasing pain, my anger was also growing larger day by day but I kept it inside which at times provided me the courage to settle on to the harsh as it agreed to stay stronger.

Am I moving in the right direction?

Yes. Everything is going as planned, the idea behind the whole drama of keeping on their side, to go on fasting, seeking attention, the planned gunshot which I took upon myself, that forceful smiles & necessary cries to build up their trust.

(laughing strangely).

(Is Outraged....)

Yes!! I stepped into this not by my will but by my choice.

"I was sent here by my father with an objective but times led the situations for me to turn my ambitions of becoming CM".

"By stepping into the power I will not only destroy Baba Nirala I want to devastate Monty as the one who has been close to him only can dare to play with his intellect".

Here Pammi decides to use Babaji's secret as a weapon to ache him as there would be no fairest avenge than taking blood by blood and openly threatens Babaji with killing Ridhima.

For the first time, Baba Nirala AKA (Monty) has got caught in a situation where he feels helpless as he cannot do anything to deal with Pammi because of Ridhima's presence or cannot disclose the related matter with Ridhima either.

After seeing Pammi's wrath, Babaji AKA Monty starts this new rule for "The CM" (Ridhima) of allowing her to touch the food only after being tasted'.

and also increases her security as Pammi will not leave any chance to hurt Ridhima who has been waiting for a long to retaliate against him.

Everyone including Bhopa is unable to mark out his actions. Ridhima thinks of this over-protectiveness as merely a drama and ignores his strange behavior.

Here due to Babaji's repeated absence in Aarti"s and Satsangs, bhakts (people) and everyone else including the media start asking about his unavailability. Doubts begin to rise about whether something is kept indistinct.

Meanwhile, a Programme is arranged outside Niraladham where Pammi manages to meet Sonia and tells her Ridhima's truth.

Sonia asks Pammi to first watch her words and asks her to close off her nonsense therefore Sonia is unable to accept Pammi's assertions.

Sonia is on her way home reviewing the scene -

[ "As far as Ridhima is concerned, she is Jaydev's daughter and she had lost her mother. I found Ridhma's admission papers where she addressed Jaynandini as her mother leaving her father's slot empty !!!???.....and just now Pammi has fessed up with something else". ].......................

but why would Pammi lie? And what she would gain? supposes Sonia and decides to meet Jaynandini.

Sonia asks Jaynandini to let out the truth at last.

Jaynandini breaks her silence and recalls her past:

The story begins with Monty Singh who is known by the name Baba Nirala at the present day.

I was in school when I met Monty through my friends. In the beginning, I was unwilling to talk to him but gradually we became good friends as he used to come daily after school.

After some days we became more than friends. One day I realized that we were very distinguishable and I needed to distance myself from him before my (Bhaiya) brother's attention. It was hard to break up. By distancing, I thought I would never be able to find out his feelings towards me.

But then Monty's sudden disappearance made it very clear that he was never into me as much as I was.

Though difficult I came to terms and everything was going normally until the day I came to know I was expectant. I told everything to my (Bhaiya) brother. At first, he was wrathful and annoyed but he settled down to the difficult, calmed me, and said that the one who was still miles away from this world was an innocent soul while promising to stay by my side and the one who was yet to be welcomed will always have his back.

A man who never started his own family not just because he had two of us as his responsibilities but because of the special bond that he shares with his 'niece' (Ridhima) which he never wished to share with anyone else.

A year later Monty came back and supposed Bhaiya- (Brother) (Jaydev) was my husband as he had never met him nor did he know anything about my family.

However, if he thinks so, let it be so. Good in the way and we [Bhaiya (my Brother) and I] decided not to seek his misinterpretation and Ridhima shall call Jaydev her father instead of being her uncle. That way even she will never feel the absence of her father and will never question anything regarding the same. And else if Monty would ever come to know about Ridhima he would have taken her away.

Here he still was under the impression that I would forgive him some day so he was finding ways to stay and asked Bhaiya (my Brother) to give him some work. Bhaiya (my Brother) was not going to close his eyes to him but agreed to keep him on a job at our factory. He would have done drama in front of Bhaiya (my Brother) as typical of him. Initially, I did not agree but Bhaiya (my brother) is a nice soul and is always ready to help irrespective of whosoever, and then eventually I agreed to it.

Monty had a real affection for Ridhima. He gave her the name -( 'Pari'- just like a sweet little angel). This kind of tenderness is unexpected from an individual like him because a person like him can treasure no one but himself. I thought it might be because of the unbreakable bond between them. Anyway, I knew the truth and was never going to reveal him but despite whatever he had done in the past keeping a Father away from his daughter was unjust was what I felt at that time and I decided not to step in by keeping everything normal. While Bhaiya (my brother) & I used to be away from home due to work Monty used to take care of her from maintaining her daily schedule to dropping and picking her up from school.

By growing years, after realizing Monty and Ridhima's affection for each other which was not good, and before Ridhima could ask certain questions regarding Monty for which we did not or rather could not give her any answers. So we decided to leave the country. We got settled in Europe. Ridhima finished school and was admitted to the University of Turkey for her specialization in psychiatry. Occasionally Bhaiya (my brother) used to visit us as he was staying here due to his political work.

As days passed Ridhima forgot everything.

Bhaiya (my Brother) called us here for an assignment in Niraladham for which he supposed Ridhima could be ideal and we never imagined that Monty would return to our lives like a disaster.

After listening to Jaynandini, Sonia is taken aback then she asks about Ridhima's plan. Jaynandini replies of not knowing anything much about it but is sure of Ridhima turning his ( Baba Nirala's) life "Upside Down".
