Chapter 48: Cutting Ties

“You honor us with your presence, Scott. I hope your pack is behaving and things are going well for you, but what brings you our way today?” Miles greeted Scott with a small smile.

The Alpha was only partially surprised that Wilbur was with him. For a brief moment, Miles wondered if Wilbur was Scott’s new Beta. Would Scott give the man that title after everything that’s happened?

“We’ve been doing just fine,” Wilbur snapped through clenched teeth, irritation beginning to form at the implication behind Miles’ words.

While the wolf shifter could understand Miles’ distrust, he couldn’t just sit back and let the Alpha say whatever he wanted about their pack.

‘Calm down, Wilbur,’ Scott had thought to the wolf shifter, one hand reaching out to rest on Wilbur’s shoulder and focus his attention back on Scott. The last thing that Scott needed right now was a fight between Wilbur and anyone from the Shadow Fang Pack.
