Tristan's Journal: First Meeting

Mission dela Cuesta - Day 1

I have begun to set out for the town of Wickler. It is quite a long journey, but it is not uncomfortable because I am taking the airplane. Moreover, I brought the witch's favorite book with me so as to refresh myself with the story. The airplane is the perfect place for a read.

I don't get why women - or maybe just witches - choose to be with a man who does not show love. They always chose me even though I just professed my love once and never again even with my actions. If men knew of this, they would easily bewitch witches. But then again, looks would be vital.

I closed the book on the 37th page. The girl beside me kept on squirming. She had the eye mask on and muttered something. I take back what I said. It is an uncomfortable journey.

The girl sat up and she removed the eye mask. Then she started gagging immediately. I looked around to ask for help from the crew when her gags became more violent. I had a feeling she would throw up and it wouldn't be good if she puked all over me.

"Miss, are you okay?" I asked while giving her some plastic. "Use this plastic."

She snatched it from my hand and began to throw up. My feeling was right.

The sound wasn't exactly pleasing so I went to the restroom. I locked the door and that's where I stayed for the rest of the flight.

I went out when we were about to land. When I got off the airplane, an attendant rushed to me.

"Sir, your girlfriend collapsed," she said.

"My girlfriend?" I interrupted.

Then she led me to the girl who sat beside me in the plane.

"I'm sorry but I have no-" I couldn't finish what I was supposed to say because the girl gained her consciousness and limply held my hand.

"Don't," she whispered.

I whisked her hand away. "As I was saying, I have no girlfriend."

"Sir, it seems that she knows you."

"It seems?" I looked at the woman in the eye. "Well, it also seems that you don't want to be bothered by a passenger since your shift is done.""Sir, it's not like that."

"It seems that way. Why is it true when it's you who says that it seems so, but it becomes false when I say it?"

A higher-up strode towards us and joined in. "I'm sorry, sir. This girl is new here. You don't have to bother yourself with this."

I was about to leave when the girl held my hand again. "Don't," she softly said while tearing up.

Once more, I whisked her hand away. "And don't touch me."

I left and not much happened. I looked for the witch's place, and it wasn't hard. There's only one small cottage in Wickler. It was isolated because it was deep in the woods.

I hid behind a large tree. There seemed to be no one at the moment, so I stayed put until the witch would arrive. My plan was to collapse in front of her and she would save me just as what happened in the characters' first meeting in You Can Love Her.

When it was evening, I heard some footsteps coming. I knew it was the witch because there was no other person who would go there, right? I stood up. As the footsteps came nearer, I prepared to walk out of the tree to collapse. Just when I was about to do it, someone else collapsed in front of me. The witch. But it was okay. It's still the same scenario.

I crouched down and helped her up.

"Miss, are you okay?" I had said those exact same words twice to the same girl.

I frowned. Could it be that she's the witch? I inspected her body for a ring but found none. However, it's still too early to conclude.

I carried her, and brought her to the cottage. If she's the witch, then it's good. If she's not, I have more things to do.

I put her down on the floor and stood up to go wait outside in case the real witch would show up. She had no ring with her so there's a possibility it's not her. But she did come to the cottage deep in the woods so there's that possibility, too.

"Don't." I felt a hand on my ankle. I looked down on her. Should I just continue walking in case the real witch is still out there? Or should I comfort her in case she is the witch? I decided on the former.

"Please don't." She held me with two hands now. I looked out the window and at her. I changed to the latter.

I sat down and said, "I won't."

Her grip on my ankle turned limp, and she closed her eyes. The whole night, I kept watch. Nobody else came. This must be the witch.

But where is her necklace?
