Chapter 25: The Stroke of Midnight

I spent the entire next day trying to figure out what I was going to wear to the stupid ball tonight. The whole thing seemed ridiculous but then again so did Ferrer.

Lonnie and I had left the Lycan compound with no issues. No one bothered us, no one even said a word to us. It had put Lonnie in good spirits, but the growing sense of dread had followed me as we left and was sitting with me now.

We came back to my place and told Wade how it went. He didn’t seem very concerned about it all. Didn’t it bother him that Ronan wasn’t concerned about betrayal? Was Ronan so arrogant as to believe that I wouldn’t? So many thoughts swirled around my skull that it gave me a headache. The headache became worse when Wade told me I had to find something nice to wear to this “ball” he said he would take care of the mask.
