Leon was astonished by the level of anger Ella had been harboring when she pushed him away like he meant nothing to her. He was perplexed by the chillness in her voice when she said that one word, 'yes.'
He understood that she was angry at him for leaving her behind. But he couldn't understand why she was making a big issue out of it when she was the one who permitted him to go with his mum.
"Why is the life of a woman so complicated?" Leon massaged his forehead in agony. "How is it that they tell you one thing and mean the other? Could it be that she wanted me to go with her when she asked me to go with my mum?"
Leon breathed down his frustration and shook off the anger building up inside of him. He walked up to Ella and stood by her side while resisting the urge to touch her. He also dropped his lantern and like her, he focused his attention on the floating lantern.
