Amaya’s Rage

Jakub, Emily, Nicole, Light and Amaya were looking around the office for any possible clues that would lead them to who the vampire was. They couldn't find a thing, whoever it was touched nothing and left. Jakub stood there wondering how a reaper had been with them the past few days without them detecting him at all. He helped them, he was kind to them, but who is to say it wasn't all a facade he was putting on to get information about them.

Emily didn't know how to feel about the situation. She thought he was kind but it's one less reaper for them to worry about. The heartless is who they were there to be rid of so she felt nothing for his death. The only emotion she felt was sympathy for Amaya. Amaya had no idea her adoptive father was using her. That she thought he actually loved her but in reality he used her as one of the reapers top assassins in the LIA. Even with that knowledge Amaya was still sad, she loved him for taking care of her. For being a decent enough father figure when she had no one before him.

Light felt a presence and looked around to see if anyone else had noticed it. Nobody moved or hinted that they had felt anything. She felt it coming from outside of the office, so she headed out to look. Nicole was the only one that noticed Light walking out of the office and she waited a few seconds and then followed behind her. Light walked toward an alley just around the corner of the building. Nicole following behind her saw a golden glowing light coming from the alley. Nicole could hear Light's voice but couldn't make out what she was saying. Leaning against the corner of the office and peaking around the corner she noticed a woman floating in the air and Light kneeling before the woman. The woman was beautiful with long blonde hair in a braid and glowing Nordic style tattoos.

"There's nothing new to mention my goddess." Light said to the woman

"As one of my Valkyries I have high expectations for you Light. Do not let me down, you are my major piece in this shadow war for control of this city."

"Shadow war?" Nicole uttered to herself

"Yes Goddess Freyja." Light replied

Nicole had no idea gods and goddesses actually existed. She knew of the reapers but only because of Emily and Jakub, and she knew of the Valkyries because of Light. She began questioning if the reapers were under the influence of a god and who could it be.

Freyja disappeared from sight, Nicole figured she must've returned to wherever a goddess resides. Light stood to her feet and Nicole ran back inside. Jakub and the others turned to look as Nicole came in and about a minute after Light walked in.

"Where did you two run off to?" Emily asked

"Two?" Light questioned back and looked at Nicole

Nicole awkwardly smiled as she avoided eye contact with Light. Light got close next to Nicole and held her hand. She leaned in to whisper in her ear.

"Did you see?" Light asked

Nicole nodded

"Please don't tell anyone."

Nicole nodded

Light kissed her on the cheek.

"There's nothing here at all to help find out who the vampire was. I just don't think it was a coincidence that your little friend showed up where we were going to eat and then this happened." Amaya said

"You think Lizzy has something to do with this?" Jakub angrily asked

"She's from a different world and couldn't have been here very long. Where would she have run to after leaving?" Amaya's questions continued

"Yeah but why come here? Why run to a doctors office? The only thing I can think of is the Vamp was in league with reaper higher ups. They felt like the doctor betrayed them by helping us too much and this was what happened as a result." Jakub replied

"Wow you actually didn't sound like an idiot." Emily sounded shocked

"Our only lead to anything is Reign. We stand against Reign and take them on. Maybe then they can lead us to the Vamp." Said Jakub

Everyone agreed that he was right, the only thing they could do was continue to pursue the heartless. Nicole offered for Amaya to come and live with them at her home. Telling her that there was plenty of room for everyone and that she would even have her own room and bathroom. Amaya accepted her offer seeing that the office is where she was sleeping and it was no longer safe.

Amaya gathered the ash pile that was her father into a jar. "I'm taking these to the beach, I'm going to release his ashes into the ocean." She said fighting off the tears.

"I can have Thomas take us there. As a sign of respect for your father I would like to be present when you do it. I just lost my father not too long ago as you know. I'll, no we'll be here for you no matter what Amaya." Nicole said as she grabbed Amaya's hand to comfort her.

"Thank you I would appreciate that."

The group gathered around Amaya and hugged her. "We promise to stick with you."

Nicole had called Thomas to come and pick them up to take them to the beach. The ride was across town not too far from the abandoned port they went to a few nights ago. About five minutes down the road from there in a car, well a flying car that is. Traffic on the streets is outrageous even with the flying cars. They arrived at the beach with no one saying a word the entire car ride there.

Standing on the beach in a row side by side, Amaya took the jar and held it up. The wind was blowing hard out toward the ocean. The sun still burned bright in the sky above as she pulled the lid from the jar and thrusted the ashes up and out. The wind took them out to the water.

Amaya dropped to her knees in the sand and began crying. Emily kneeled down next to her and hugged her. Jakub balled his fists in anger, he hated seeing his friends so sad and it has happened too many times since being here already.

"We'll make them pay… Reign for killing Nicole's dad… The Vampire for killing Amaya's dad... Pluto for making the heartless…" Jakub said angrily

"Wait… Pluto?" Light asked, "Like the god of the underworld Pluto? Like Hades?"

Emily and Jakub's eyes went wide. "The god of the underworld?!?"

"You really aren't real reapers from this world are you… sheesh." Light said in a sarcastic manner, "I've known reapers were a type of harbinger but as to what deity they belonged to I did not know. Once you said Pluto everything became clear. Hades is making an army of them to collect souls to release himself from the underworld."

"Who would that make Elena then?" Emily asked

"She must be a newborn goddess. The daughter of Persephone and Hades possibly. She must not agree with what he is doing and is why she summoned two other worlders to be hers. That would explain why she can only have two reapers also, because she is a young goddess. The fact that you're able to have hearts must be due to the fact that she was not tainted by Hades' evil yet, she is pure." Light explained

"This is too much for me to take in right now." Jakub said

"That would explain my father's research into higher beings. Beings beyond reapers and Valkyries. He must've been looking for the gods and goddesses opposing Pluto." Amaya said as she wiped tears away

"Hades has been sealed in the underworld for sometime. His only ties to this world are his reapers and that's the only way he gets information on it. Or at least that is what I was told when I came to hunt down reapers." Light informed them

"That would explain what Elena meant by he was trying to tear down the veil. Hades wants to free himself from the underworld." Emily said
