Chapter 17

GEORGE POV

I couldn't believe my ears when my investigator told me it was Melissa who hired a man to dress like an attorney and forge a divorce document for Diamond few months ago.

Not just that.

I was with grandpa and Greg at grandpa's house when I received a phone call from Reynolds, my personal guard which I assign to go with Diamond, secretly, that Melissa was at the company today and from how she walked out, he guess she must have done something bad.

I told him to do some investigation with any of the staffs and what he told me boost my anger the more.

I think I've had enough of her troubles already. And today, am going to end her for once!

"Get out of my house!" I threw her luggages down the stairs, leaving them to roll and fall to her feet.

It didn't seem like am talking to somebody. She just stood there, chewing her gum harshly, her hands on her hips.

"Didn't you heard him?" Thank you, Greg for reminding her. He came with me when he heard everything. He didn't hesitate bringing his lawyer along with a legit divorce paper. "Get your fucking things out of my brother's house, bitch!"

"Don't you dare call me a bitch." She warned him, one of her newly polished nails pointed at Greg. "And for your information, am not leaving my matrimonial home. You have no right to kick me out either because am not married to you, asshole!"

I trust Greg. He hates being insulted in as much as embarrassed too. I knew what he is capable of doing so I didn't bother stressing my nerves.

I just leaned on the handrail and cross my arms, watching.

He turn to his lawyer, "Are the papers ready yet?"

The old man flipped through the pages and adjusted his glasses. "Yes, sir."

"Good." Greg collected it from him and handed it to Melissa. "Sign it. Be fast, make it snappy. There's no need to read the instructions. It is very clear that it's a divorcement."

A bad smirk appeared at the side of my lips. Great job, bro.

"I said sign it!" He yelled when she refused to take it from him.

I didn't miss the moment Melissa shivered when he snapped. The 'I don't care' mood on her face disappeared at once and got replaced with a frightened expression.

She shifted her gaze from Greg to me. "Honey, are you just going to stand there while your brother destroys our marriage?"

Eh?

What did she just call me to start with?

Honey?

Hehe. In her wildest dreams.

I didn't answer. I just strode down the stairs, took the document and signed the part that awaits my signature. Then, I handed it to her.

"Now sign it." When she refused, I took out the registered pistol from my pocket and pointed it at her forehead. Her eyes grew enormously as fear wobble her knees. "Sign it now or I'll send you to hell this minute."

Greg adjusted from where he was standing, "I don't like someone else's blood spilling on my expensive t-shirt. Especially when that person is not pretty enough."

Without a second thought, she snatched the papers from me and quickly placed her signatures in all the necessary blanks that demands hers.

"I thought you were brave." Greg took it from her when she was done and handed it to his lawyer. "Approved. You're a judge, you know what to do."

The man shook his head and left.

I rubbed my lower lip with my thumb and stare at Melissa who was now sobbing. "You know you look hotter when you cry. Tsk. I pity how your life is gonna be now without me."

Greg handed her a white hanky and she used it to clean her face. "Don't cry, baby. Your makeup is ruined."

Just in time, my grumpy parents marched in like FBIs. When Melissa saw them, she picked up her two luggages and left the mansion.

Ah! What a relief after three years of bondage, am now finally free! Free like a bird from the snare.

All credits goes to my twin for life. What would I have done without him? He has always been my backbone and I owe him a lot.

Mom called after Melissa but she didn't look back. I think she had had enough of the embarrassment and now, it's time for her to get lost!

"What have you done?" Dad took off his sunglasses abruptly. His eyes moving from me to Greg. And it stopped at Greg, "You literally supported your brother to tarnish his reputation. You're a fool. In fact the both of you are fools."

"There's no problem about that, Daddy. After all, the deal has been done." I gave Greg an 'High five' and together we strode to the sitting room.

Mom and Dad was fuming in anger as we pass them. I think they're wishing they could just skill the life out of us. But we don't mind. Because we know they can't do it. They won't want to do that and remain childless for the rest of their lives.

Would they?

"George? Gregory?" Mom stormed at us as we settle on the couch for Netflix. She stood at the TV, blocking our views. "Did you just realize what you two have done?"

I rolled my eyes and let out a lazy sigh. "Of course, Mom. I just divorce Melissa. Is that too much for you to process?"

"And sooner, Diamond will be coming in." Greg munched a handful of popcorn and handed the can to me.

"Never!" Dad yelled. I'm afraid his voice was close enough to crack my 100 inch plasma TV and pull down my ceiling.

I quickly look around if anything fell or got destroyed by the pitch of his voice.

Whew! Nothing. Everything is still intact.

"I forbid that woman's name in my family as I forbid her from stepping foot into this house." Dad stated firmly.

I shove a handful of popcorn into my mouth and turn to him. "That implies that you also forbid your grandson from stepping foot into this family, right?"

They paused for a while and just stare at me for a long time.

"…..She…she has a son for you…?" Mom gasped. Her mood turning calm a bit. "But…you never mentioned it to the family."

The air around me was getting hotter and tighter. I needed a big space to breath. So I stood up and made my way to the gardens. It was an opportunity for Greg to turn on Netflix.

He increased the volume of the TV to hundred and the sound of the movie 'Citadel' envelope the room.

I took out a packet of cigarette and lighter from my pocket. I place a stick of cigarette in my mouth and lit the bottom.

Damn, it's been a long time since I last smoked my guts away. I usually smoke whenever am super mad or whenever am lonely.

I puff out the smoke into the air with my eyes closed as I feel the cool wind hovering around me.

Just then, I heard footsteps approaching from behind. I don't have to look back before I know who it was.

I could feel their cologne and how close they're standing near me. But I just kept smoking with my eyes closed and my chin lifted to the sky.

"Ever since the day Greg and I was born, you two have always decided what we should become. You told Greg and I that our favorite color must be white because your favorite color was white. You said we should study business so we can take over the family's ancestral business. Of which we did without complaining. And as time goes on, we thought you two would allow us be when we come of age. But no. It didn't end there. I saw someone I love but you said because she's a middle class woman, I can't marry her. That her background and status doesn't tally with ours.

I paused for a moment when I felt a bile at my throat. It was my anger coming and I know once it outburst, I won't be able to control myself, talk much of someone else.

I heaved a longer smoke this time. My eyes red as I stare into space. "You two destroyed my happiness and Mom brought in a woman from Italy. Her friend's daughter who is only good in bed but bad in kitchen and other activities." I scoffed and puff out the smoke. "For three years, I lost the word 'Happiness' when Greg told me about Diamond and my son, I felt like I've found the missing word to my puzzle."

"George dear…." Mom was contemplating whether to come near me or not. I could feel her. "Listen, I understand how you feel right now. Believe me, I feel your pain."

Liar.

She's just a good actress that knows how to fake a pretense.

When the cigarette finished, I let go of it and crumble it under my foot.

"You don't understand a shit about me, mommy." I say, my lips pressed tightly together.

"Of course I do, son –"

"You don't!" I turn around to face her and she moved back after seeing the look on my face.

Dad is such a bad protector for her. The old man stood distance away from us and when he saw my expression, he moved farther, backward. Leaving mom to face my wrath alone.

"You don't know anything, sweet mother. You don't." My voice low but my anger is still recognized. "If you do, you'd had accepted Diamond once and for all as your daughter in-law."

Ah. I knew she's a good actress. Just look at those fake crocodile tears coming out of her eyes like waterfall.

But that didn't stop me from ranting. "And now, because you found out that we have a son, you want to act nice."

"Am not trying to act nice or pretend, George. Am sincerely sorry from the bottom of my heart. If I had knew all these things, I wouldn't have being harsh on her."

"Harsh?" I laughed nastily. "Oh dear mother, you were cruel. So cruel like a scotch bonnet in the eye."

"We thought we were doing the right thing, son." Dad managed to say something after keeping quiet for so long. "All we wanted for you and your brother was the best."

"I don't want to insinuate anything bad here but did you two find a wife for Greg?" I rose my brows. "No, huh? Because you know he doesn't take shit. And you look at me as the most obedient one and calm one to fool, isn't it?"

"George…" Mom reached for my arm but I moved backwards from her. "Am sorry. I swear from the bottom of my heart, son." She touched her chest. "I made a mistake. Your father and I made a very big mistake and we're truly sorry. Please."

I paused for a while, taking my gaze from her to my Dad. "Your apology is still not accepted. Try again later, thank you." I left them alone in the garden.
