Helping the Scared Girls

He knocked on Goldie's door and she quickly answered the door, "Good morning, Goldie, how are you?"

"I am good, you want to ask me something."

"How could you tell? I wanted to talk to you about these 7, the traumatized girls."

"What about them?"

"I was thinking it would be helpful to check up on them everyday, and maybe to organize sort of group talks, to let them share or let them unwind and letting them forget their traumas."

"Sure, what did Dariia say?"

"She is teaching Elena, so I didn't have time to ask her, but you are fine with it?"

"Why do you bring it up?"

"Carla had a bad episode yesterday, I heard her and went to comfort her, so the idea came to me," Goldie nodded, "So maybe if you and Dariia would speak to them every now and then, see how they are doing and such, like, more than what you are doing now."

"If it will help them, I will do it, thank you for the idea, Sam."

"Do you have anything planned today?"

"I was going to walk in the gardens and probably play a game with Carla and Fiona, they asked me too," She smiled, "They are cute."

"I am glad they are doing fine when the sun is up, it is mainly at night, they aren't as comfortable as they should be, I wish I could just remove that from them."

"I do too," Goldie shrugged, "But we can't, but maybe me and Dariia can help them, I hope."

"Just let them know."

"Oh, of course, Sam, thank you for the idea," He nodded and began walking down the hallway as Goldie left her room and walked to the edge of the open hallway and overlooked the small class Dariia was having and the girls learning to tend to plants with another lady. The sun was shining bright and the autumn breeze blew through the hallway, cooling them down from the warmer temperatures, "It will get cold soon, huh, lord, I hope these girls don't suffer from that," She smiled and then went back to her room, "Time to get working on that sign."

"Quinn, I found you, finally," She was sitting alone in the gardens with a book in her hands, sitting on a bench, "I have to show you something."

"Really? What is it?" She looked up at him, "What is it?" He handed her the letter from lord Silverblade, "So he thinks you stole me."

"I assume he does, but this is something that I need you to tell me, do you want to go back with him, or do you want to stay here?"

"But, he will raid you, I can't put these girls in danger, I just got here."

"You have the choice, don't worry about the protection of the girls, you need to choose what you want, to stay or to go with him."

"Can I tell you something?"

"Of course, I am all ears."

"He beat me, several times in the past."

"He did, oh," He sighed, "You are staying then."

"I would like to."

"Then stay, I will make sure that if he comes, he gets what he deserves."

"There is no need to kill him."

"Don't worry, well, thank you very much, Quinn, does your room have winter clothing?" She nodded, "Good, autumns are mild but the winters are harsh."

"They were as well when I was with my 'husband'."

"Perfect, it is just that some of the girls here don't have them in their rooms, so I have to make sure the caretakers get the things their rooms need," He got up and rolled the message once more, "Well, see you at dinner, Quinn, if you need anything, just ask me or any of the helpers."

"See you then, Samuel, thank you for this opportunity to remain free from the men of this world."

"I am still a man."

"But you are kind, and you have a good heart, willing to be unpopular to save the women who this society mistreats, that is what I think," She smiled, "Thank you."

"Was your husband rich?"

"Not really, we were an average manor."

"Good, I won't have to expect an army," He smiled and then turned around and began walking back towards the main building.

"Thank you!" He turned back to her and smiled before turning back to walking back to the main building. He smiled as he saw the girls work on their own flower patches.

"They are getting along well, huh."

"Oh, Sam, I didn't see you there, but yes," She smiled, "They are good students," He felt someone touch his shoulder, "I think Elena has something to show you," He turned around and saw Elena with Dariia.

"Look, Sam, look!" She handed him a page and he smiled, "Read it, read it," She hopped around with way too much energy.

"Hello Sam, I am Elena, my room is room 113 and it is near Cassidy's room," He smiled as he looked at her, "Wow, that is impressive, only a few days and you learn to write this? Good job."

"Look, 113, I remembered."

"Good job," She hugged him and Dariia giggled, "Are you happy here?" She moved away from him and nodded, "Good, is your class over?"

"I was thinking that she did a lot, so I think she could use a break."

"Ah, well, okay, Elena, do you remember if you had winter clothing in your room?"

"Winter clothing?"

"Like a large blanket in the wardrobe?" She shook her head, "No? Okay, perfect, I will make sure to write that down," He pulled out his book and wrote it down, "Dariia, did Goldie talk to you?"

"No, why?" Elena hopped away, skipping happily, "What is this about?"

"About the girls you are caretakers for."

"Yes?"

"I was thinking of making a sort of talk group for them," He said as he walked with Dariia in the gardens, "Goldie thought it was a good idea, and well, I was hoping to see what you thought."

"Why did this idea come to you?"

"Carla, last night, she had a nightmare, again, even though she has had a month without them, I think that talking with them, talking about fears, maybe would help."

"You think so?" He nodded, "Well, maybe, but I would have to ask the ladies first."

"I was just giving an idea, I never wanted to force it upon you."

"I assumed you wouldn't, by the way, Elena is very happy with the things you offer her here, she told me she had never actually had a sort of mother or father figure, so I know exactly who she sees as a mother."

"You? Or Cassidy?"

"Me, and father, I think we can both guess."

"She is over the age of 20."

"Yet still needs to find herself, so you being here, might, actually help her."

"Well, if I can help, I will gladly help."
