Scars

-----Kaede's POV

The knight class was actually pretty stressful to my surprise. I never realized how much power I packed behind my strikes until I had fought against Kendal, but after hearing him say my technique was poor and sloppy it made me happy, knowing that I still had a lot to improve on even with my power. It was a good reminder for me to tone it down to the level of a regular human as after my match, everyone's eyes were on me as if I was some sort of anomaly. Yui's face however was the only one smiling brightly which was all I cared about.

We had just finished class as we were now back in our dorm rooms with Luna offering once again to cook for the 3 of us. I wanted to help, but it's been over a decade since my rebirth and I haven't bothered to practice my cooking skills I learnt from Yui's mom, so I opt to accept her generosity as Yui and I wait together.

Yui: "So? How did you like the knight class?"

Kaede: "It was interesting, but I don't think I really belong there."

Yui: "Eh? What do you mean?"

The idea of swinging around a sword didn't suit my style, especially after watching Yui spar with the other students, there was no way I could get to that level. Sure I had the raw power, but I felt like I was cheating in a sense, so I'll give the other classes a go.

Kaede: "That was my first time swinging around a sword you know. Plus have you ever seen me try to fight back in our old world? fufu~"

Yui: "I guess not aha. Well, It's all up to you really. As long as we see each other after classes I'm happy."

Kaede: "Mhmm!"

This was no different than when we were back at our old high school. We only had 1 mutual class together which was chemistry science. We both never paid much attention in class so we never noticed each other until we started hanging out, which made chemistry a lot more enjoyable. So I'm not at all worried about missing out on spending extra time during class with Yui if we'll be together afterwards.

Yui: "So what class you going to take tomorrow?"

Kaede: "I think I'm just gonna go through the list Lucien gave me, which would put the specialized magic class as next."

Yui: "So you'll be with Leon then?"

Kaede: "Who's he?"

Yui: "Ah, he's the prince of this kingdom. He's chill so don't worry-"

Prince... That word reminded me back when I fought Oboris, he too called me like I was some sort of royalty, a princess. I wish I could of met my parents like Yui, I could've learnt more about myself, why I even possess light magic as a monster.

Yui: "He's also a light magic user like you."

Kaede: "Really?"

This was exciting news, not once have I encountered another person with the same magic as me. Maybe taking this class may prove to be useful as this prince person may show me a thing or two on how to use my magic better.

Luna: "Yeah! He helped us a ton when we went to Pontia, when SOME of us got injured-"

Yui: "You don't need to remind me haha"

Luna was looking towards Yui with a suspicious look as it fills me with curiosity.

Kaede: "What did he do?"

Yui: "Well we were hunting goblins that had taken up residence near Pontia so we were tasked to help out the town. A few us got injured."

Luna: "Yeah, including you!"

Yui: "I didn't get hurt again though~ But yeah, I'm grateful to him for healing me."

I started to worry about Yui getting herself in danger, but after hearing her having someone like Leon there to save her made me ever more thankful of him. I'll be sure to give him my thanks tomorrow.

Luna: "Oh also, dinner's ready~"

What was presented to us looked to be pork that appears to be marinated in something along with mixed vegetables and baked potatoes. It smelled delicious as Luna began to slide us our plates before sitting down herself.

Yui/Kaede: "Thank you."

Luna: "Ah no, It's nothing special. Lets dig in! We don't want it to be getting cold."

There was no prayers or any other kind of special way to say thank you for the food in this world, but I still think it in my head before we all start to eat away at our dinner. I pay attention to the looks of their faces as we eat as both Yui and Luna had smiles on their face, clearly enjoying the food. I could still taste the flavors as it was plenty flavorful, however it was nothing compared to when I drink blood, making it difficult to appreciate the dinner Luna cooked for us.

After some time, we eventually finish our dinner as I made my way back to my room after thanking Luna for her cooking. Yui grabbed a few of her clothes with her before following me back.

Yui: "I'll come by to wake you up in the morning. Try not to sleep in again~"

Luna: "Hehe. I'll try~"

They smile at each other before saying their goodnights, as Yui and I walk back to our room. I still feel bad about 'stealing' her away from Luna, but she seems okay with things so far so I don't pay it any mind.

Yui: "Did you want to use the shower first?"

Kaede: "We could just hop in together, if you wanna."

Yui: "Eh?"

Kaede: "Pfft"

I couldn't hold back my laughter as I chuckled upon seeing Yui's startled face. I found myself slowly feeling like my old self after spending these first few days with her again that its reassuring to me, knowing that I'm still me, still finding enjoyments in teasing Yui.

Yui: "Didn't you want to stop by Sicily and the others though?"

Kaede: "I'll visit them on the weekend. Right now you're my priority."

Her face becomes more flushed as I once again see her cute side, putting an even bigger smile on my face. I am however worried on how Sicily and Lillian are doing with their job hunting, and how Mell is holding up. Maybe I could squeeze in time tomorrow just in case.

Yui: "...Fine. But only for cleaning!"

Kaede: "Mhmm!"

I really didn't plan on anything like that, but I also didn't expect Yui to accept my offer either as this would make it our first time showering together. Instead I felt somewhat nervous.

As we began to take off our clothes in preparation for the shower, as Yui took off her pants, leaving her in just her underwear, my heart stopped as my eyes locked onto something that looked quite scary.

Kaede: "Yui?"

Yui: "Hmm? Oh! This?"

I nod as she pointed at a scary looking scar on her right thigh. Maybe it's a birth mark or something?

Yui: "Remember when Luna was talking about Leon healing me and the others?"

Kaede: "Yeah~?"

Yui: "Well I was shot by an arrow. Leon managed to seal this up with his healing magic."

Kaede: "Eh?"

I was left confused after hearing that from Yui. I recall the moments when I had to heal myself and every time I distinctly remember not leaving any scars, so what gives?

Kaede: "Isn't healing magic meant to NOT leave any scars?"

Yui: "No? Leon healed my leg for a while. I actually told him about the scar but he-"

I kneel down to become face to face with the scar, placing a hand on her inner thigh where the scar was. It must of startled her as she stopped her sentence halfway through, letting out a short moan before I started to use my magic instead, trying to heal her wound properly.

Yui: "H-hey I said we we're only going to clean-"

Kaede: "Stay still."

I cut her off once more as I began to focus more on her wound, putting in more of my magic. I could feel the presence of someone else's magic as I slowly took over it before finally being able to heal her wound properly. Moments pass until finally, I remove my hand to see the scar was no longer there.

Kaede: "There. Better right?"

Yui: "...Kaede. How did you-"

Kaede: "I just re-done what Leon did. I'm sure you didn't like to look at that scar right?"

Yui: "I'm just..."

I stand back up before giving her a small peck on the lips, trying to snap her out of her daze.

Kaede: "Surprised?"

Yui: "Mmm-"

Kaede: "So am I. I actually thought tomorrow I might be able to learn a thing or two from Leon, but if he couldn't heal something like that, then maybe I'll have to teach him hehe."

Yui: "Thank you!"

She suddenly kissed me herself, longer than my short peck before shortly breaking it with a huge smile on her face.

Yui: "I was worried how you'd react when you found that, but to think you could get rid of it entirely is amazing!"

Kaede: "Is that why you kept your pants on last night?"

Yui: "...Yes"

Kaede: "Well if something happens again, I'll be there for you."

I hold her by the waist as I reassure her, wanting to protect her as we smile at one another. Suddenly, a chill went through my body as I could also feel Yui trembling slightly in my arms.

Kaede: "Lets get in. I'm getting cold."

Yui: "O-okay."

-----Luna's POV

Luna: "Alone again, huh."

Its the second time Ellen has gone with Kaede, but it still hurts just as much as the last time as I finished cleaning up the dishes.

Seeing Kaede spar against Kendal sure was amazing, especially after learning that it was her first time, however I found myself looking more at Ellen as her face had a wide smile on her face. It stings to see her look at her like that, but there's nothing really that I can do, it wouldn't be fair on Ellen.

I find myself sub-consciously laying down on Ellen's bed again as somehow, it felt too lonely being in my own bed. The lingering scent of Ellen on the bed felt comforting to me as my eyes slowly close while laying down on her pillow, savoring every moment of it.
