Celebration

To think that I'll still be walking home with Kaede like this, I wouldn't of believed that we're still this close even after a whole year. Our homes were in the same direction so during our days in high school we always walked home like this. It's a bit sad that this will be the last time leaving school like this, but I'm also glad that we could do it together, one last time.

Kaede: "Hehe~"

Yui: "Hmm? What's funny?"

Kaede: "Oh nothing. I'm just happy that we could finish school like this"

Yui: "Mm, I'm happy to have you with me"

We walk more closely with one another, arms linked as we continue walking. It was actually during these walks back to our homes that we slowly started talking to each other and eventually became good friends. Makes me think that if she lived somewhere else would we be like this as we are now? Would we still be lovers? Or even friends? The thought of that made me all the more grateful to which ever god brought us together like this.

After 15 minutes of walking we come to an intersection where we part ways. The railway track crossing through the middle.

Yui: "I'll see you tomorrow then?"

Kaede: "Wait-"

Just as Kaede begins to turn towards me, I interrupt her by pressing my lips against hers. The tenderness of her lips is so captivating that time seems to stand still, reluctant to part from her as I slowly release the kiss.

Yui: "Was it this?"

Kaede: "N-no~"

Kaede now blushing once more from the suddenness of the kiss with some anger hidden amongst her soft, reddened cheeks as she looks around us with no one nearby

Kaede: "What if someone saw us!"

Yui: "I couldn't help myself. Plus we wouldn't be able to see each other again till tomorrow. And I didn't wanna finish our graduation without one"

Visibly happy as the hidden anger slowly faded away as her smile resurfaces, before happily pecking me on the lips back.

Kaede: "Tomorrow it is then! I'll text you!"

Yui: "Mhmm, see you tomorrow"

With our little exchange we parted ways. Me going left with Kaede going straight forward. After 8 more minutes of walking, nearing my house I get a text from my phone. I take my phone out from my pocket whilst walking.

Message From Shin: "Mom said yes! When can you start?"

Message Sent: "Fuck YEAH! I can start Monday if that works?"

With my message sent and phone back in my pocket, I get to the door of my house and as I open it...

"Congratulations!"

My parents yelled out in surprise to me coming home from graduation, they must of finished work early to surprise me. I give them both a hug, a wide smile clear on my face as my arms just barely reaches around both of them.

Yui: "Thanks mom, thank you dad"

Dad: "Like we would let you come home all alone during your graduation. Say, where is Kaede?"

Yui: "Probably dealing with what I'm dealing with now haha"

Mom: "That's probably the case"

Mom now laughing with me for a little as after a few moments later, we release the hug.

Yui: "I also got a job just now"

Mom/Dad: "Ehhh? For real?!"

Yui: "Mmm, I'll be working at Shins' mother's bakery. I plan to start work on Monday"

Mom: "My precious Yui growing up so fast~"

Tears start building up in my mothers eyes, clearly happy to see me landing a job straight out of high school.

Mom: "Maybe we should do something special for dinner? Maybe... Tempura?"

Yui/Dad: "YES!"

Mom: "Fufu I'll go and get dinner sorted out. Go get changed, I'll go with your father and get what we need for dinner"

With that said after a few exchanges, my parents leave the house to do some shopping for dinner while I look after the house. Heading up into my room to get changed before laying down on top of my bed, taking out my phone while doing so. As if by coincidence I get a text the moment I open my phone.

Message: From Shin:

YUP! Monday works. Good luck!

Unbelievable, school is still going yet he is on his phone in the middle of class? I close my phone, not letting him have an excuse to ignore class before I get another text.

Message: From Kaede<3

I miss you...

Message: Sent

I miss you too, but we will see each other again soon <3

Message: From Kaede<3

Yeah, I just wish you were here right now

Message: Sent

We both had to deal with our parents though haha

I didn't get anything back from Kaede. Her parents probably pestering her as usual, but something didn't seem right. I'm not good at picking up certain things but it didn't feel like our usual texts. Wait she didn't respond when I brought up her parents.

Yui: Hey, is everything okay?

5 minutes later, no response. This is different, this has never happened before, something is definitely wrong, and not knowing what it is it's driving me nuts.

I rush down the stairs, putting on my shoes before I walk out the door, making sure its locked before running in the direction to Kaede's home.

----------Kaede's POV

That kiss was out of nowhere, Yui's been getting a lot more aggressive lately, making me flustered and all, but. It does make me happy to know I'm loved. As I walk back home I get to my house and open the door, only to see an empty, cold, dark house.

My parents are on a vacation of sorts for a few days, so I knew I was coming home to this but. Why is it so sad, like why would my parents plan a vacation on today of all days. I know Yui wanted to go to their parents and tell them the good news with their job and all, but I just wished I could of had Yui with me in this lonely house.

Tears start to form a little on my face before closing the door behind me, engulfing me inside the house before heading to my room. My body collapsed onto the bed, still in my uniform from graduation as my tears come out all at once into the pillow. After 10 minutes I finally bring myself to text Yui, if I cant see her then I'll be fine with texting.

Kaede: "And, sent"

It took me a while to figure out what to send, but I couldn't lie to her saying everything's okay, my heart wouldn't allow it. So I sent a simple "I miss you" and went with that.

After a bit of texting I couldn't take it no more, my tears were building up again, I had no control over it that I just decided to put my phone down and try to sleep early. If tomorrow I get to see Yui again then I'll just sleep through this depressing day.
