Lucas' Resolve

Red nosed her awake at dawn. Eva blinked awake and recoiled from the rough, wet tongue that slid across her cheek.

"Eww, Red?! Gross!"

Pushing the overgrown leopard away from her face, she stretched and rubbed away the sleep with her hand.

She noticed that the campsite felt emptier than usual. It felt quieter than normal as well.

Expecting to see Lucas near the burning fire, she looked around. She frowned. He was gone.

'He did say something about going to a village.'

Still, she had hoped that he would have at least said goodbye. Sighing she stood up to warm up her muscles.

Lucas' cloak fell off her and hit the ground by her feet. She paused mid-stretch and then reached down to pick up the cloak.

This was the second time he had given her a cloak to keep warm.

'I hope he was not too cold last night.'
