Astro lay on the ground, curled up in a fetal position. He had given up on finding a way out of the forest. He had accepted his fate of dying alone in this strange world.
He closed his eyes and waited for death to take him.
Suddenly, he heard a loud roar nearby. He opened his eyes and saw a huge creature coming towards him.
It looked like a cross between a lion and a dragon, with a furry body, scaly wings, sharp claws, and fangs. It had red eyes that glowed with malice and hunger.
It was a griffin, one of the most fearsome predators in Magia-6.
Astro felt a surge of fear and adrenaline. He knew he had no chance of escaping or fighting this beast. He knew he was going to be its next meal.
He grabbed his device and pressed the button frantically, hoping to activate it somehow. But nothing happened. The device was dead.
He cursed himself for forgetting to charge it before leaving his world. He cursed his grandfather for giving him this faulty device. He cursed this world for being so cruel and unforgiving.
He closed his eyes again and braced himself for the end.
But then, something unexpected happened.
He heard another roar, louder and angrier than the first one. He opened his eyes again and saw another creature flying towards him.
It looked like a cross between an eagle and a horse, with feathers, hooves, a mane, and a tail. It had blue eyes that sparkled with intelligence and kindness.
It was a pegasus, one of the most noble creatures in Magia-6.
The pegasus swooped down and grabbed Astro by his shoulders with its front legs. It lifted him up into the air, just as the griffin reached him with its jaws.
The griffin snapped at Astro's legs, but missed by inches. It roared in frustration and anger
