A Gamer's Dream

The world I lived in was now similar to video games. NPC's could be seen roaming around the plain fields, Monsters and mysterious beings lurks around the dark alleys and people can now grow stronger every time they level up. It was a dream come true for me, but it wasn't your average game. It was nothing but an apocalyptic setting for everyone. Fighting to survive, making your own items and even relying on your stats just to live. I wonder what could happen if a certain mortal managed to reach level 200. Would they become a god in their corrupted world? Or even an unstoppable being?

Good Friend

We talked for a few minutes until our order finally came. The same cashier who I talked to earlier came with our drinks and snacks. The lady gave me a piece of paper and I saw the payment. It was only 224 dollars.

The ice tea cost 20 dollars while the cake cost about 144 dollars. We all decided to pay individually for our drinks while we split the money for the large cake.

Elijah, being a gentlemen decided to pay more for us than we planned to.

"No need to act like a gentlemen". I said before giggling.

"What kind of friend would I be if I didn't pay for my friends". He said before giving me a wink.

I rolled my eyes before looking away. It wouldn't be a surprise if he kept that childish attitude of his towards me and tries to flirt.

"Anyways, after this we need to go check that new game before it solds out!". Kylie exclaimed.

"Why are you guys so excited buying that game? Aren't you guys curious to know the price first before buying it?" I asked.

"Well... it does sound expensive, but my parents don't mind me buying stuff no matter how much it is as long as I keep my grades up". Kylie replied.

I forgot how her parents were successful. They're known for being a successful and strong family due to how Kylie knew martial arts and karate.

I wonder how I got myself associated with such a unique person.

"If you want I could buy you the game". She said.

"..."

"Pardon?".

Did I heard that right? Did she just say that she'll pay for the game for me? No, there's no way she could have. I must be hearing things.

"Like I said. My parents don't care how much money I spent as long as my grades are good and the items I buy must be something other than drugs or illegal stuff".

Aurora and Elijah was eating their cakes and listened to our conversation quietly. I crossed my arms and stared at the brown haired girl.

"Wouldn't it be a waste of money?".

"I have my credit card with me today".

"...!"

I was in awe just hearing my friend's decision. She seriously won't hesitate to buy something for me like an expensive head gears?

"A-Ah... no, I can't. It's too embarrassing".

"My parents love you, so they won't get at mad at me for giving you a video game".

It was true. My parents and her parents were close when the Anderson family moved into the city. One time I visited her house her parents immediately pinched my face and treated me like their second daughter.

"Fine. I'll take your offer then since your so persistant".

"Hehe"

"Ehem, we're stll here you know?". Aurora said as she sipped onto her drink.

"Sorry, sorry"

"And, Kylie since you had your credit card why didn't you just paid for the bill?".

"Eh, I mostly use it for buying something fancy".

------

Once we finished eating we left the store and started to head over to the near gaming shop.

Me and Kylie talked as we walk while Aurora kept teasing Elijah about the whole misunderstanding inside the shop.

"By the way, have you recently seen the news?". Kylie brought up.

"News? Sorry, I don't really watch TV too often".

"Earlier this morning when I just got in your house and was greeted by Mrs. Smith. I turned on the TV and the reporter was reporting about unknown occurences happening in the small towns near the city".

"They said they actually saw a zombie! Can you believe it? A zombie!". She said while waving her hands upwards.

"Haha, if that really did happened I would obviously be prepared".

"That's because you dedicated your life for fighting monsters and zombies. Don't think I didn't read your diary one time".

My face grew bright red once I heard she had read through my diary. It was a book filled with secrets that was not meant to be seen by anyone including her childhood friend.

"I like the part where you wrote about me" She said while smiling.

Wrote about her...?

"Sorry? I never remembered anthing about writing you".

"Really? I could've sworn I read the part about 'I stared at her long, applecut hair. She looked fairly cute, but was blabbering as usual'. Didn't you wrote that back when I bickered about reaching level 20 in dungeons master?"

"Huh?"

"Back then you stared at me as I was talking about my success in leveling. At first I thought you were just listening.. than when I read that part it made me smile".

I stared at her before smiling.

"I can't lie about my dearest friend's beauty".

"Quit flirting back there and hurry! We finally reached the store". Aurora shouted.

Even though the part where I wrote about Kylie seems embarrassing if people did the same to their best friends for me it wasn't all that embarrassing.

I turned my head and saw how red Kylie was. She had the upperhand a while ago, but now I have the advantage to turn her to a tomato.

I was about to speak when Kylie suddenly grabbed my wrist and dragged me inside of the gaming store.

Once we went in the air conditioner was nice and cool. The amount of video games lined up against each other and there was also old, but gold CD games.

I was stunned before I felt a nudge from Kylie.

"There it is".

She pointed her finger over to the counter where a display set can be seen behind of the cashier. There was a high lighted word called 'Ruined Society'.

It was no other than the actual game itself.

"Come on! We need to buy it before it gets restocked in another month!" She said as she clinged onto my arm.

We both ran over to the counter. Kylie didn't bother waiting and straight up asked.

"How much for two ruined society gears?"

"20,000 dollars".

"Urk..."

I choked on my words when I heard the price. So that means 10,000 for one gear. I glanced at Kylie and waited for her response.

It was a 2 year allowance for me if I brought something as expensive as that.

She slammed 20,000 exact dollars onto the counter. The cashier picked the money up before he brought in 2 large boxes with the USB drive inside and there was also an additional item.

"The item is a full face gear for your facial recognition. Once you use it you can just put it back in the box since it won't be needed anymore. After that a small chip would appear and you insert it inside of the head gear". The cashier explained.

How advanced has technology has become over the past decades?! This game should've been 100,000 dollars due to the fact that it seems to advance and luxury to only cost about 10,000.

Kylie thanked the cashier before grabbing the two boxes and tried ti give me the other one, but I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize that my mouth was wide open.

"Hey, you'll catch a fly if you keep that mouth of yours open".

It took me a minute before shaking my head to snap back to reality. I couldn't believe my eyes upon what I was seeing.

It was the legendary and hot topic video game in the internet. I can't believe I actually have one.

I was about to grab the box out of my friend's hands until she took a step back.

"Hm?"

"Before I give you this. You owe me at least one favor".

"Sure, sure. Name your price".

"You got to come over my house tomorrow. Mom and Dad are starting to miss your presence since it had been years since you last came to visit them".

"Oh? That's all? Sure. I don't mind".

"Good. At least it'll stop them from begging me to bring you over".

I giggled before she gave me the gear. I was so happy that I could cry, but I won't do something as humiliating as that.

Kylie's parents were so busy that they couldn't visit me. They always came home late and doesn't even have time to visit our house, so I wouldn't be surprised if they missed seeing me. Especially since it had been 4 years and I now have grown older.

"You really are a good friend. I'm so glad I had met you".

She giggled.

"Yeah, yeah. Watching you two flirt is giving me a stomach ache. Now come on! I wanna go home already". Aurora whined.

We all laughed at her childish actions.
