Chapter 294: Destroyer of Worlds

System.

In this world, the system is the one who manages everything. It allows for a fast growth as well as give skills and titles to its inhabitants. But most importantly, it is the world's restoring force.

Unlike most worlds, this world had been greatly damaged. Its life was siphoned out of it through the ancient technology of an elf. At first, everyone thought that it is an efficient and renewable power source. The world leaders allowed its usage, in turn speeding up this civilization's technological advances.

From the modern era where space could not be explored yet, it now has advanced power sources, teleportation gates, virtual lifeforms, and so on. Never had anyone thought that their usage of that "renewable energy" would spell their end. They even had access to space travel!

That time came sooner than they thought. The land cracked, the tectonic plates drastically shifted, and massive waves were sent from the sea. During the first day of the disaster, more than 70 percent of the humans died. They did not even have time to evacuate as their interstellar ships got destroyed.

As for the dragons, they left as soon as the humans made use of that energy. Countless times, they warned them that a calamity would descent lest they stop. Alas, they didn't.

In the end, the world nearly died. It was only through gods' intervention could it be barely maintained. A mysterious and enigmatic god approached the remaining foreign gods of this world and offered to maintain the world's life through a "System". Not only could it maintain its current delicate state, gradual restoration of the world's lifeforce, dubbed as "MA Energy", is also possible.

Hence, one high-ranking angel god sacrificed her life to become a cold and unbiased core of the system .

Her sacrifice saved millions of the remaining lifeforms. They became connected to her, which granted them the ability to "level up". As long as their cycle of life and death was maintained, the MA Energy would be restored. It might take thousands of years, but everything will be back to normal.

"You are wasting her sacrifice."

Bam-!

The newborn god converted her MA Energy into attacks before sending it into the direction of the dragon god. Sadly, her inexperience showed itself right now.

Easily cancelling it, the dragon god sent a wave of impact towards the newborn god's side.

Bam-!

Helplessly, she received everything with gritted teeth. Her soul is already suffering in a weakened state due to an attack before, but the enemy in front of her is someone formidable.

"This is pure selfishness."

"It is... So what?"

The newborn god's red pupils stared at the dragon god.

"Would she be happy upon finding out that the things she had protected all died?"

"...Ariel will take care of that."

The newborn god—Shiraori—sensed her clones inside Kuro's dimension. If not for the MA Energy they have been providing, she would've lost. Both of them are gods who has nearly unlimited reserves of energy, yet their ways of utilization set them apart.

While she underwent the apotheosis ritual and had some of Administrator D's support, she could not fight against Gulie and most of the reincarnators on her own. Even though she made some allies—her previous classmates—they were not enough.

"The entire world is against you."

For thousands of years, the dragon god, Gulie, served as the System's Administrator and ensured that it could perfectly run. Now that Shiraori threated to "remove the system" and "free Sariel", he went against her.

After all, removing the system isn't simple. First and foremost, the world would head to ruins with the system gone. Then, the connection that it has on this world's inhabitants would be broken, which will result in the deaths of more than 90% of its population. By cutting that connection, the lifeline of most people would be cut. Only the strong and lucky ones would survive.

Due to this, the world was divided into two factions: "Protect" and "Destroy".

The former aims to protect the system and let everything as it is while the latter seeks to "free" the system's core, Sariel, at the cost of this world's imminent destruction.

At this moment, however, the "Protect" faction overwhelms the "Destroy" faction.

"What?"

"..?"

Both of the gods wore confused faces as they sensed something familiar.

During the fight of Gulie and the combined power of the Hero and Demon King, a dimensional crack was opened. This resulted in Reincarnators appearing (i.e., people who have been reincarnated to another world).

At this moment, a similar force appeared above this world's atmosphere.

'How?'

They only had this single question before the crack became larger.

SWOOOSH-!

A small silhouette fell from the gap. It made a loud noise as it penetrated each atmospheric layer. It was barely audible at first, but this whistle-like sound was spread all throughout the two factions' armies.

As for its destination?

Tap.

Surprisingly, the silhouette did not let out a massive sound nor large-scale aftereffects. Rather, its footstep was the only thing that had been heard by the two gods.

His appearance was soon revealed. He possessed a transcendental aura which made him distinct from this world. His deep amber pupils scanned the silent battlefield until it landed to the two gods.

"Materialized soul... but still flawed. Quite interesting." He muttered. "Now, who is responsible for nearly destroying my world?"

For a moment, nobody could respond to his question.

'World? Destroy? Could it be... No.'

The dragon god, Gulie, immediately denied his guess. This man could not be a native god of this world.

"Who may you be?"

"A foreigner. Anyways..." The man proceeded as usual. "There's someone who possessed enough power but chose to turn everything to her entertainment. Are you familiar with someone like that?"

"...D?"

The administrator appeared inside Shiraori's mind as soon as she heard this description. Her sadistic personality and unfathomable strength indeed fits into this criteria.

"D... She could be into... that."

Sensing the enigmatic power that the man has, they obediently answered his questions. He reminded them of D herself. Meaning, the power that he possesses should be nothing short of hers.

"Singularity of the End."

Each of his words sounded ubiquitously to Gulie and Shiraori. It felt as if he was speaking in every direction, distorting the sense of self of gods such as them.

"What a coincidence." He said as he held his sword high. "My epithet's something similar."

Swooosh-!

Cut-!

His blade swung at Shiraori's direction. She readied herself for the devastating attack, only to receive nothing.

"Ah..?"

Shiraori saw the man looking at her direction with a smile.

"Many coincidences happened during this short time. A glutton (Fenrir) whose nickname is Shiro... Interesting."

Tap.

Tap.

This time, Shiraori was befuddled.

'What does he want from me? Nai wa...' She thought of something terrifying. 'Would he eat me? He's a fellow glutton, no?!'

Admittedly, she ate some of her friends' parts... literally. There was a time when she bit off her vampire friend's ear when she was an infant... just because she was dead drunk and thought of her as food. It was fortunate that vampires possess tenacious bodies. Though, she's already a glutton long before it happened. She ate her enemies' bodies to become stronger.

Now, such a thing was about to happen to her!

...or not.

"Here's some presents. It's rare that such coincidences happen within a day."

Shiraori caught a metallic blue ring from him. While her mind processed everything that happened, she paid a particular attention to the storage inside the ring.

"Wow."

She immediately drooled at the sight of good food. Just from their appearance, she could tell it is a far cry from the monsters she used to eat before!

''Nai wa..."

While Shiraori went to cloud nine, Shiro already disappeared from this world. Tracing the connection from Shiraori, he arrived at a familiar place.

"Japan."

Another parallel version of Japan greeted his sight. Given his experience with mission worlds, he simply shrugged it off.

He appeared in front of an apartment. It was situated in the 5th floor.

Knock-!

Knock-!

Knock-!

When the door opened up, a lazy voice belonging to a girl rang out.

"Oh? Is it the pizza delivery?"

"No. I'm a debtor." Shiro replied coldly. "Your payment's due for thousands of years, miss."

"Eh~? When did I incur such debt?"

"...You want me to make you remember? I could, but..."

At this moment, a world-destroying aura seeped from him. The innumerable that he killed and destroyed leaked out of his existence. For the reason behind his world's misery, he would not hold back.

"...You will see why I'm a destroyer of worlds."

He truly looked like the berserk Fenrir whose sole purpose is to destroy worlds.
