Synopsis

Yin Tao, a modern forensic doctor, transmigrated into a book and became the female lead's older sister. At the same time, she was also the female supporting character for the female lead. After reincarnating, the female lead helped to grow the family's business and married a handsome, talented man. Ever since then, her career and love life began to prosper. However, Yin Tao, who lived with her grandparents in the book, had always been jealous of the female lead because everyone in the family favored her over Yin Tao. Yin Tao grew up and became a forensic doctor. However, due to the nature of her work, she was shunned by her family. In the end, after much pressure from her family, she quit her job and married a man from a rich family.Ever since then, she has had to become a people-pleaser. She could only stand firmly on her feet thanks to her own family and children. Yin Tao was not interested in living such a sorrowful life. All she wanted was to escape from the original storyline and live the simple life she desired.Hence, Yin Tao moved out of the house almost instantly. She moved into a dormitory and buried herself in her work as a criminal investigator. She dealt with corpses every day. She also made use of her knowledge of the book's storyline to earn some money. Just as Yin Tao's life was beginning to get better, and just when she thought she had escaped from the original storyline, a murder crime linked her to the male supporting character who was infatuated with the female lead.Feng Jing became her direct superior! Fortunately, he didn't seem interested in her in the least bit. One day, Yin Tao and Feng Jing found themselves standing before a bloated cadaver that was salvaged from the river. Feng Jing's eyes widened while he looked at her. There was a glimmer in his eyes that could not quite be explained. Yin Tao started speaking hastily. "Don't fall in love with me. I'm only a myth.""..." Feng Jing was speechless.

This book is among the best chinese novels of this platform. However if you look at it outside of this category, it's a very average read. The pros : - The translation is good( at least i don't recall spotting any problem). - The detective side might interest some. - The protagonist likes to avoid unnecessary troubles ( AKA face-slapping occasions) so she is rarely around the original leads , and even lives away from her family( which is somewhat good ). - The cons : - The characters are bland. Although the Mc is likeable , she's still unfortunately very bland. And this all comes out of the fact that she has no flaws . The ml isn't so much better. He is your typical cold guy with a powerful background and a sad backstory. Plus , I skimmed through more than a hundred chapters, and there still wasn't any hint of a romance happening between them. The side characters are kind but forgetable , and the original leads aswell as the Mc's parents are rather irritating. - The story progress at a snail's pace. The chapters are short and unfulfilling , so the story seems to progress too slowly. Also , we came to read about a forensic doctor and not a detective. Hence i wasn’t very interested by the things that happened. - What is the plot of the story ? Honestly , i don't even know what is the plot of this book anymore . Wasn’t it supposed to be about a forensic doctorat who also happens to be a canon fonder in a book ? Now it seems that the author thought that there wasn't enough to be said about the forensic field so she / he decided half way to turn the Mc into a detective . But this is not realistic at all and rather, drives me out of the story. ( Does she even get paid for all of her efforts since she 's not even recognised as a detective by the law ? ) Even the reasosn for making her a detective are shabby. But i could have still overlooked this if the story was interesting enough. Yet unfortunetly enough , it wasn't. The cases were so boring and unintringing that i skimmed through many chapters of the book, which by the way , is too focused on this aspect. At this point , i don't even see why the author made her a transmigrator. This serves no purpose at all since she doesn't really interact with her parents or the original leads . - I will never say it enough : a slice of life with more than a hundred chapters is boring in the long run.( but i guess most chinese authors just don't care )
