Synopsis

When Ethan Raphaël, a college student on modern earth who loves fantasy games and books, gets transported into another world that has technology and culture roughly comparable to medieval Europe, he initially thinks that he will be just like an overpowered isekai mc from the anime that he watches, however he soon learns just how tough it is to live in a medieval fantasy setting as he finds himself without any money, friends, or fighting experience in land where he doesn't speak the language in a world that is not kind to the weak. It will take all of his knowledge, courage, and determination, plus a little bit of luck, to survive and thrive here.

Chapter 1Announcement

Hey guys, I'm the author and there are just a few things that I want to get out there before I start writing this novel in earnest. First, this is my first attempt at a web novel. I have always enjoyed telling stories, and I am very interested in the fantasy genre, so I decided to write a novel on here for anyone who is interested in reading it. Unfortunately, I'm busy with school and other stuff so I don't think that I will be able to guarantee regular updates, but I will try to put out a chapter most days if I can, so keep that in mind. Also, I really do welcome constructive criticism but keep in mind that this is my first attempt at a web novel and you are reading it for free. Finally, this is a work of fiction. I promise you that none of my characters are directly based on real people. Thanks, and if you enjoy fantasy novels as much as I do, I hope that you will enjoy reading this.

I'm not saying that it's horrible, in fact, I believe the story to be very enjoyable right from chapter 1. But, at the end of the day, this is my first original novel, and I stumbled in some areas, especially with the MC's attitude. He's too reserved and occasionally too "simpy" with the first female lead. However, the MC grows into a confident, powerful, and composed figure. No long-term cringe. He becomes the kind of MC you want to root for. 2. Quinlan’s morality: He’s not a cruel, sadistic villain. Most of the time, he won't even be acting like a real villain, only when pushed to the limit. Meaning he won't torture puppies or civilians for fun while cackling manically. However, he’s greedy, shameless, and opportunistic. If the lives of his loved ones are at stake and he can only save them by burning a city with innocents inside down, he’ll do it. He's ruthless toward strangers when necessary, but doesn't delight in cruelty. 3. Regarding slaves: Yes, Quinlan becomes a slave master. However, he treats all his women—free or enslaved—with care and respect. 4. More than smut: Every love interest has a real story, a real presence. No girl will be left behind. As of Chapter 750, Quinlan has 7 lovers and a few more "in-development" love interests. This is not a "catch them all" story, adding one girl every 20 chapters. I prefer harems made up of girls with richly developed characters over giant harems full of shallow ladies. Quality over Quantity. 5. Balanced storytelling: My aim was to create a work where romance, action, and slice-of-life blend together naturally. There’s high-stakes action, power progression, romantic developments, comedy, and some chill downtime to let both the characters and the readers breathe. 6. Weak-to-Strong Progression: Quinlan will become OP. But he rises slowly, not overnight. His journey will hopefully feel earned. 7. Not every female character listed in the fandom is a love interest: Some women are important to the plot but are not part of the harem or a planned to be, such as his two mothers. 8. No Yuri. No NTR. That's it, thank you for taking your chance on my novel! I'll make a promise to you, showing how much I believe you'll love the novel if you get over the somewhat bumpy beginning! If you read 750 chapters and hate the story even after investing so much time into it, then you may burn me alive!

As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.

This so far is a nice and enjoyable read for me the Mc smart the writing is clear of what happening in the story the mc at the mid level op ness but still reasonable

The writing quality is pretty good and there are hardly any mistakes. This makes the read very enjoyable. Hence, I’ll give 5 stars. Same goes for the stability of updates because as it seems to have been very stable for now. I hope he an keep it up. The story development so far is also quite good. It starts of great but unfortunately the author starts to rush ahead the plot a little much for my taste. Therefore minus one star. Now to the character design of the main character. In my opinion the author needs to be careful with what the Mc actually would now realistically. The character issue one that studied languages but also seems quite well versed in history and engineering for some reason not further explained. Very rapidly he brings in technology like gunpowder, flintlocks and probably in the future (less than 50 chaps for now) steam engines without much trouble. For example grinding and mixing gun powder in a dry state is still dangerous due to the possibility of ignition. So I get the impression that this story will become yet another, „my knowledge makes me op“ story besides the magic part. Minus 2 stars for this. Finally, the world background is so far quite well fleshed out, and I also like the idea how the magic‘s works. But yet again I’m afraid that the author will give the character to much power not only by his extensive language knowledge he possesses but also in the way he is allowed to use it ...what potentially is a can of worms logically in the future. For example.. if you can probe the future unconditionally! It’s a fantasy story after all but in my opinion this will hurt the world background hence, minus one star. P.S. keep it up author, you are still doing great for your first story. Just do me a favor and don’t make it too easy for your MC.

This is mostly just a self-promotion review, but I really do hope that you enjoy this novel. I tried to make the characters believable, and the situations realistic (within a fantasy setting of course), and I think that that shows in the writing. I will try to release new chapters as often as I can, but keep in mind that I do have other things going on in my life, so it may not be everyday. I am trying to start worldbuilding in a way that doesn't make the story seem too rushed, and I'm trying to avoid any plot holes.
