Some Things Couldn't Be Faked

Everett had heard that you were supposed to hug crying people to comfort them but wasn't sure Josie would want that from him. But his indecision didn't last long because she was crying too hard. Whether she wanted it or not, she probably needed it. 

Unfortunately, that only made her cry harder. He didn't know exactly why she was so upset but guessed it had something to do with her family based on what he had overheard. He had never seen or heard of them before now but hadn't thought too much of it. At first, he thought her family was back in Anaxas. Then he didn't really consider that she had one here. 

If she did, he figured she didn't say anything because she thought he thought she was Lady Josephine still. But that didn't appear to be the case. She was on bad terms with them for some reason or other. 

Everett hated seeing her so upset. It wasn't like her at all because she was normally so smiley.
