"There's an old guy who just can't sit still. I need to remind him to stay honest," Shinki said with a smirk.
He bent down, kissed Tsunade on the forehead, and tucked the blanket over her before quietly opening the window and leaping out.
"Mm..." Tsunade, half-asleep, lazily mumbled, "Okay," before rolling over and dozing off again. She trusted Shinki to handle whatever it was, fully confident in his ability.
As for who the "old guy" was?
It didn't matter. There weren't many people in the village who could earn such a title from Shinki, and anyone could guess who it was.
In a dark alley, Shimura Danzo, clad in a black battle uniform, walked cautiously with two guards. Taking various hidden routes, he made his way toward the Uchiha clan's grounds.
Danzo's goal was clear: to create trouble for the Uchiha and disrupt the fragile peace forming between the clan and the village.
His reasoning was simple: when there's a threat, there's motivation. If the village felt threatened by the Uchiha, it would justify his plans for forming the Root division.
He understood the Third Hokage's character all too well. Without enough pressure, Sarutobi would never side with him.
But if there wasn't any pressure?
Danzo would create it himself.
As they approached the Uchiha clan, weaving through two more alleys, Danzo's group suddenly came to a halt. A shadowy figure loomed ahead, its faint green eyes glowing in the dark.
"Who's there?!"
One of Danzo's guards tensed, scanning the alley.
"It's an ANBU puppet," the guard muttered cautiously.
Danzo's face darkened. Encountering one of Shinki's puppets at this moment could only mean one thing—he was being watched.
And worse, he hadn't even noticed the surveillance until now.
From the surrounding shadows, more puppets emerged—one at the alley's other end, and two perched on the rooftops above, effectively surrounding Danzo's group.
"What is this, Shinki? Spying on me?!" Danzo barked, trying to maintain composure despite the oppressive feeling of being cornered.
The puppets remained motionless, their glowing eyes fixed on him.
Danzo gritted his teeth. He knew tonight's plan was a failure. Worse, the realization that Shinki had eyes on him at all times was deeply unsettling.
"These cursed puppets…" Danzo growled under his breath, glaring at the motionless figures.
Not far from the scene, Shinki stood on a rooftop alongside Uchiha Fugaku, observing the debacle.
"What did I say?" Shinki chuckled. "Danzo won't leave your clan alone. It's only been a few days, and here he is."
Fugaku's face was grim, his fists clenched tightly. He said nothing, but the tension in his stance spoke volumes.
After waking Fugaku earlier, Shinki had brought him here to witness the spectacle for himself.
"Danzo wouldn't risk framing anyone directly," Shinki explained. "He's here to stir the pot, probably by meeting with certain Uchiha elders to sow discord. He wants division within your clan."
Fugaku remained silent but visibly processed Shinki's words.
"The village leadership is strapped for funds right now," Shinki continued, "so they've eased up on Uchiha. Danzo hates that, but he can't pressure the Hokage to act. His only move is to create chaos within your clan to force the village's hand."
Shinki's explanation hit home. Fugaku recalled the recent tensions among certain elders in the Uchiha clan—small disagreements that hadn't escalated but still lingered.
"This is your opportunity to act, Fugaku," Shinki said firmly. "I've told you before—internal division is the greatest threat to your clan. If you don't deal with these factions now, someone else will exploit them."
Fugaku's hesitation melted into resolve. He realized Shinki was right. If he didn't act decisively, the clan's future could be jeopardized.
Danzo's attempt tonight was proof enough.
"I won't let my clan fall apart," Fugaku declared, his voice steady but resolute. "I'll handle this."
Shinki nodded approvingly. "Good. Remember, unity is your strength. Anyone sowing division is a threat, no matter who they are."
With his decision made, Fugaku turned to leave, his thoughts racing.
For the sake of his clan's survival, he would wield the knife against his own people if necessary. The dissenters and opportunists within Uchiha would be rooted out, no matter the cost.
And Danzo Shimura, who had unknowingly catalyzed Fugaku's resolve, would leave empty-handed tonight, his plans thwarted once again.
