Chapter 56

The peculiar scent and aura radiating from the yomigaeri triggered a distinct recollection in Kai and Kaori. The smell and vibe they were experiencing now had already visited them once before, the dreadful day when they had lost their comrades.

As Kai prepped himself to face the yomigaeri, his look hardened and he assumed a mask of steely resolve. With determination, every muscle in his body stiffened as his grasp tightened around the handle of his homemade spear. The fire inside of him, fueled by loss and a fierce desire for vengeance, was evident in the intensity of his eyes.

"I've been looking for your kind," he said l, his voice low and deadly. "It's a good thing you came to me. Now I can test how much stronger I've become."

The yomigaeri, an almost amused look on its face, chuckles darkly.
