"You must attend the board meeting!" My dad had told me before he left me in my room.
I went for a run, took my bath and coated myself in an office casual, a white tucked-in button down shirt, black slacks, dark socks and black Oxford shoes. At least, it's better than the bondage my dad wears, a suit and a tie I imagine to be a leash.
Blaze, my personal assistant and also my driver had arrived just in time to pick me up. Halfway to the office, I spotted the curvy waitress that attended to me at my club, outside a mall with a little girl. And I told Blaze to drive there. I don't why I did that but we were already there before I thought of it.
Suddenly, she sat on my car bonnet and another lady, strawberry blonde joined her, with a heavy thud.
Blaze approached them but only managed to get the curvy lady off the bonnet.
The strawberry blonde lady sat firmly, firing words at Blaze.
That was when I decided I had to interfere as I left the car and went to their mist.
"How dare you do that to a little girl?" The strawberry blonde didn't give Blaze a chance to say anything.
What had we done to a little girl? I checked around till my eyes fell upon a crumpled teddy bear.
"We're so sorry." I said gaining everyone's attention.
The curvy lady stared at me and her eyes widen. How surprise she must have been seeing me! That caused a smile to creep on my face.
The strawberry blonde had stopped hurling words at Blaze. Her gaze moved from the curvy lady to me, and back to her.
With the smile still on my face, I went over to the little girl and bent over to her level to maintain eye contact with her.
"Why are you upset?" I asked her and her face crumbled more than it already had.
"My_my." She pointed her index finger at the crumbled teddy bear.
I place my hands on her shoulder. "How about we get another one for you?"
She nodded with every force inside of her.
"That's my girl."
I held her tiny hands and we went inside the mall. Her mom, the curvy lady joined us immediately. Maybe, she thought I wanted to kidnap her little girl.
"Where are you taking my daughter to?" Her hand held mine to stop me.
"Obviously to get her a new teddy bear. I ain't gonna kidnap your daughter while you're watching."
"You don't have to..."
I place my index finger in front of her to shut her up. "I'm gonna get her a new teddy bear and that's it." She gave in finally, following us displaying a little frown.
It was silent between us till we came upon a cute, white tiny teddy bear.
"Oh my. It's too expensive. Let get a cheaper one." Her mom said as she pulled her daughter along with her.
"Mom. I want that." She stayed still, trying to free herself from her mom's hold.
"I'd get it for you." I smiled to the little girl. I took a glance at the annoyed mom and gave her the 'I won' smirk.
We got the teddy bear, payed and exited the mall.
The scene before me amazed me.
Blaze was rested on the wall with one of Kelly's hand enclosed on his neck and her other hand, on his shoulder, trapping him to the wall. He didn't fight for freedom. He gave in to her hold. They turned to face the curvy lady and I.
"Just to make sure he doesn't escape before apologising to the owner of the teddy bear." She explained as we approached them.
Strawberry blonde ladies and red haired ones can be crazy at times. Well, maybe most of them. Blaze smiled and told her he'd do what she says. I noticed the way he melted with her hand on his, his eyes glued to her the whole time like there was an hidden diamond in her. That moment, I knew there was a chemistry going on between them. The Blaze I know would have fought her with his kickboxing skills and make her scared that her high spirit would drop down to zero. He did as he was told, apologizing to the little girl. She smiled so brightly, clinching to the teddy bear we'd just bought for her. She looked so tiny and cute as her eyes flickered from her mom to the remaining of the giants standing before her.
I fucked up big time, asking out a married woman with a kid. I was disappointed to find that out.
Should I ask her if the little girl is really her kid?
No. It's very obvious she's her kid. They both had long, black shiny hair, and pouty lips.
"You daughter is so pretty...like you. Your husband must be the happiest man on earth." I said finally trying to choose my words carefully. I stared at her to see her expression. It dulled for a while before she smiled.
"Thanks. He would have." She fixed her gaze to the ground.
It took a few seconds before I understood what she meant.
"Is he....Oh My God! I'm so sorry." I wiped my hand on my forehead. Why did I have to bring the topic up.
"I'm so sorry." I repeated again. I didn't know what to do. I keep screwing up.
"It's okay. It's been a while and it's off my mind now."
"By the way. Thanks for the teddy bear. Anna loves it." I took my time to study her smile. It's beyond beautiful.
"I only fixed my mistake."
"I'm sorry for the other time....at the club..." My hand shot up to my hair, ruffling it slightly. This is so awkward. Apologizing.
This time she laughed. "And I'm sorry for the slap too. I hope it didn't hurt?"
Is she serious? It hurt as hell.
I heard someone cleared their throat. And we all turned to see Miss strawberry blonde. Her hands rested on her hips as she spoke. "We're settled. So we can all get going?"
I hate her already.
Blaze and I left. As we halted in front of the Reichmann skyscraper, I realised I was damn late for the board meeting. I knew what was coming next.
I took the private elevator to my office and saw my dad sitting on my desk. His fisted hands rested on the table, his whole face was wrinked with different lines, right from his eyebrows forming a V shape to his twitching lip. He's soaked in anger.
As I stood at the entrace,
He started barking.
