A Perfect Day I

"Blüdtoth, from our fight the other day, I realized we lack a fighting doctrine. We have strong individual fighters, but they know nothing about operating as a unit. It is a miracle we didn't have more severe injuries or a causality considering our lack of cohesion and presence of healers." Gringar says, critiquing our most recent battle.

"You've got a point… Alright, we'll begin the construction of several training dummies, and archery stands, and you can oversee the training which we will hold in the morning and evenings. Everyone who is a fighter will be mandated to attend at least two of these training sessions a week. Anyone else?" I ordered in response after some thought.

"Um… I have a suggestion?" Kasia tentatively asks as she raises her hand.

"Take it away, and you don't have to raise your hand, Kasia." I tell her with an encouraging smile.

"I've been doing inventory, and we're getting rather low on construction consumables, such as nails, fittings, hinges, and locks. We can either buy them already made in Falkreath or Whiterun, but I think it would be better if we were to make them ourselves by constructing a forge and expanding the mine to get some stone and raw ore." Kasia proposes while rifling through the notes that she's made.

"That's a good idea. Ask Grelka to consult on crafting the forge. Lokir, can you get those laborers from Whiterun to take on the task of miners?" I ask Lokir.

"I'm sure they'll appreciate the work, Boss. I also think if we bust our asses, we can finish out the basic houses in another week or so, but the inn, school, storehouses, and other structures, are gaining to be a while longer." Lokir informs me.

"That's fine. It'll be good enough just to get everyone out of the elements. Anyone else?" I ask, shocked when Erik speaks up.

"Um, thanks to you clearing those fields, I was able to get some crops of wheat, potatoes, cabbage, leeks, and tomatoes planted, and we should be able to begin harvesting in a few weeks." Erik explains.

*Cough, cough.* "Or sooner." Jouane says under his breath.

"What was that, Old Jouane?" Erik asks, not quite catching what he said.

"Nothing, boy, nothing at all." Jouane says, giving an inconspicuous whistle.

"Well, I'm glad we'll have some crops in soon. That reminds me, Falion, can you start teaching some basic magic classes? I want everyone, regardless of skill or proficiency, including the kids, to learn the basics of spell casting." I instruct him.

"I can teach it, but not everyone has the capability to become a mage, just like not everyone can become a skilled warrior." Falion explains.

"That's fine, I just want everyone to get a feel for magic, so that they can use it in emergencies and know how to combat its use against them. I would also like you, Vladimar, to assist in the combat uses of magic casting." I tell Vladimar, who grunts in agreement.

"Anyone else? The kids from Riften should be arriving soon and I'd like to have most of the furniture done as well as some blankets and cots made up. Also, I plan to have an expedition to a few sites in a couple of weeks after the company has gotten more training. Alright people, last chance, speak now or forever hold your peace… Or at least until the next meeting." I joke, getting a mild chuckle through the camp.

"Um, when will I be able to go out on an adventure?" Erik asks hesitantly.

"Whenever you can take my shield bash and strike me back!" Gringar shouts at him, much to Erik's dismay and the rest of the camp's pleasure.

"Alright, don't crush the kid's spirit too much. Maybe you can tag along on a patrol or a resource run as an escort? I guess my last discussion item would be for Lokir. Has Walsh taught you anything about water systems or cisterns?" I ask.

"Not yet, Boss, but I can meet with him to discuss it next time I get a free couple of days from camp." Lokir tells me.

"Good, it's no rush. Just tell him we're trying to gather runoff from the mountain to use down here. Maybe he has some ideas on how to make it work." I say before pondering if there's anything I've forgotten.

"Oh, right. Kasia has the supplies to make the recruitment pamphlets come in yet?" I ask her, remembering my plans to expand the company.

"I placed an order with Solaf, and he said it would come in in a few days. In the meantime, I bought what he had on hand so we can at least start working on designs whenever you get the chance." Kasia explains.

"Good. I've got to pick up some prospective guards from inns across Skyrim, so I can leave the pamphlets behind if we get them done by tonight. If that's all, everyone should get their assignments from Lokir. I'll be working on furniture for the houses today." I tell everyone as I get up to head to the workbench.

"Blüdtoth, if you have a moment, I would like to borrow your ear." Gringar asks as everyone else lines up around Lokir to get their jobs for the day assigned.

"What is it, Gringar?" I ask, following him off to a secluded section of the camp.

"I know you are still recovering, so this can wait until you have received your full strength. But we should consider establishing your control over the local tribes by becoming a true chieftain. It is the very first step in the founding of Orsinium." Gringar explains.

"Interesting. Any suggestions on how we do that?" I ask with curiosity as to his plan.

"Well, the way I see it, of the four tribes that make their claim in Skyrim, two have questionable leadership that you could easily challenge and take the clan as your own." Gringar says after some consideration.

"Oh? Which tribes do you suggest? And how do I take control of their leadership?" I ask him, intrigued by becoming a chieftain.
