Idiots

3 rd person's POV:

The idiot thief was walking towards the holy flame without a care in this world, it was almost as if he was mesmerized beyond repair by the flame's beauty because he couldn't even sense the imminent danger that was looming over him.

Arthur was still pretending to not notice as now the thief was halfway across from reaching the pillar where the priests stood.

Step by step he came closer to the pillar as Arthur mused.

'This idiot doesn't even know that the 3 people on the top are aware of his presence and are just acting to be meditating like me! ' Arthur smirked.

Arthur's POV:

The thief kept on moving blatantly towards the pillar as now he was just 20 meters away from the pillar.

'They will capture him any moment now! ' I smiled at the thought

The thief was now a mere 15 meters away from the pillar.

'Any moment now... ' I thought again.

The thief was now 10 meters away from the pillar.

'Ok, any moment now... '

5 meters...

'These 3 people surely know how to put up an act.' I reassured myself but this time I was a little bit worried.

2 meters...

'Maybe.... They aren't really pretending to be meditating' doubt started clouding my mind as I was becoming a little unsure.

The thief was now starting to climb up the stairs!

'The fck! These 3 guys are definitely meditating and have no clue of what's happening! ' I tried to get up to stop the thief but my system stopped him instead.

[Don't master! ] the system shouted in my mind.

'Why not? Ain't no way I am losing that heavenly treasure to a fcking third rate thief! ' I protested as I rile up my chakra.

[Just think for a while master, if that thief really managed to steal the treasure then you can just steal it back from him since you know his face!

It's better to face a single thief then the wrath of the entire li clan! ] the system adviced.

'You are not wrong... ' I contemplated

'But what if he isn't able to steal this treasure? ' I asked the system.

[If he fails to steal this treasure then this means that he will be captured by the li clan but so what? It's none of our business anyway if he gets captured, we just have to act innocent and pretend that we didn't know about it! ] the system replied.

'System, You are a genius! ' I complimented at his impeccable thinking.

[Right you are master! And instead, we should be praying that he is able to steal this treasure successfully as it provides us an opportunity to take this treasure for our very own!] The system spoke while laughing menacingly.

'Right as always system! ' I too laughed like a third rate villain inside my mind.

3 rd person's POV:

The thief was slowly climbing up the stairs meanwhile the others except Arthur were meditating in silence.

Every step the thief took put him one step closer to the holy flame for both the thief and Arthur.

[Steal it! Steal it! Steal it! Steal it! Steal it! ]

'Steal it! Steal it! Steal it! Steal it! Steal it!'

Arthur and the system chanted together like a madmen, cheering on for the successful of the thief.

The thief finally reached the pedestal where the 5 priests stood next to the holy flames.

[Just steal it and run friend! ]

'You are just an arm length away from the treasure! '

Both Arthur and the system prayed for the thief's success.

The thief immediately pull out a storage ring but to the dismay of the system and Arthur, a priest suddenly opened his eyes and stared blankly at the thief.

The world stopped for a while for both the system and Arthur as they held their breaths in suspense.

[It's over... ] the system spoke sadly.

The thief upon seeing the priest panicked and immediately pulled out a giant brush and a lantern from his storage ring.

[Is he trying to attack the priest and go for the run? ] the system spoke

'It's useless, he will be captured now ' Arthur thought regretfully.

The priest suddenly grabbed the lantern and the brush away from the thief as the thief kowtowed in fear.

"May the holy flames bless us! " The priest shouted while throwing his hands high up in the air as the people started waking up from their meditation or prayer.

One by one, all of the remaining 5 priests woke up from their meditation as 3 of them started chanting something which caused to flame to dance fiercely. The remaining 1 out of the 2 priest brought the lantern closer to the flame while the remaining priest use the brush to draw the flames into the lantern.

Arthur and the system watched this happening in front of them in awkward silence.

[Hahaha, he wasn't a thief after all but just a helper of the priest! Silly me! ] the system cheerfully spoke.

' You are a fcking idiot system. ' Arthur degraded the system with words.

[You too. ] the system replied back.

"I know. " Arthur replied in defeat.
