Pit-Pat-Pit-Pat~
This blizzard is getting stronger and heavier, the snow is getting higher and higher. It was already reaching up to my kneecaps.
Fire energy was circulating through my coat. My coat was made out of special leather that was completely fireproof, so I could use as much fire as I wanted without burning my coat. You could say that I had fire armor.
But...
[MP: 32453/39500]
I need to monitor my MP, if I keep this going, I'll eventually run out of mana, and then I won't be able to use anymore magic.
If this person proves to be a challenge, I'll have to use Divine Chain-mail, and that takes 5000 MP to perform. Then the rest of my mana will be used to perform Divine Dragon moves.
Whoosh!!!
A tremendous gust of wind blasted into my face. It was so intense. I don't know, but I think I heard a howl accompany the wind. Was it a wolf?
Thump!
I heard heavy footsteps approaching me. I could see a wolf-like figure in the distance, approaching me with prudence.
What is a wolf doing all the way out here in this weather? Was it here before this desert became a wasteland? If it did, why was it in the desert?
Whatever the answer may be, this wolf was getting closer.
[Level 158 ???]
Level 158, huh? I'm currently level 164 so if someone is this close to my level, I'm going to have to fight seriously.
When the wolf got closer, it was emitting this cold aura. I felt like it was a subzero temperature and that if I even got close, I would instantly freeze. This wolf had ice spikes coming from its neck, and it had blue and white fur patterns all over its body. It's cold blue eyes glared at me. It tilted its head in interest.
"And here I thought you mortals were going to be hiding in caves and sitting around the campfire, singing a campfire song. You are an interesting one."
It said in the voice of a female.
"What are you?"
I probed.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Fenrir, formerly a legendary figure in history. Now I am a legendary ice spirit."
"Legendary... ice spirit? What is a legendary spirit doing here?"
"I am here on a mission from my mistress. To secure the desert so no one can mess with her."
"And who is your mistress?"
"I believe you know her little one, she is Yuki Mitsuko."
So it was her. She was the one that flooded this desert in ice. Or should I say this spirit, Fenrir?
"So this whole place, this blizzard, this snow, this ice, it was all you?"
"Indeed."
"How though? Everyone has a limit, and I don't think that Yuki can do all this."
I glanced around at the landscape filled with snow.
"True my mistress may not be able to do all this. But due to her aberrant, she was able to summon me."
"Aberrant? What's her aberrant?"
"Calling of Fenrir. As I was with her since her birth, I've been her source of ice magic for years. And for how I can do all this, though her limits may affect me, as a spirit I have an infinite source of mana. When she uses magic, she uses her own source and I use mine, our sources are not collected but I can lend her as much mana as she wants."
Calling of Fenrir. Am I able to replicate this kind of skill? No, I don't think so, but what if I tried?
My left eye would shine a dim green color.
[Analyzing...]
[...]
[Unable to analyze. You lack the requirements: Spirit of Fenrir.]
As I predicted, I can't. I don't possess Fenrir's spirit, so I can't replicate this.
"What were you just trying to do, boy?"
"Oh, nothing you need to worry about. Now c'mon puppy, I'll take you out for a walk."
"Grrrr, are you mocking me?"
"Who knows, now, I heard that spirits are technically immortal, so you wouldn't mind if I-"
I would then pull out a white golden sword from my spatial, my father's sword. I swung it around a bit and then I got into a stance. I'd beckon, Fenrir.
"Let's get this going already."
"Grrrraaawr!"
Fenrir lunged herself at me, her jaw wide open. I'd roll to the side, dodging. As I got up, Fenrir fired a barrage of sharp icicles at me.
"Whoa!"
I swung my sword quickly, deflecting and shattering the ice. Then Fenrir appeared in front of me, slashing her sharp long claws. I blocked with my sword.
Clang!
I have to say, her strength is impressive. She was pushing me back as she continued to slash her claws.
Clang-Clang-Clang!
Crack.
Well, that's not what I wanted to hear. She's leaving scratch marks on my sword. I should back off now.
As she was about to attack again, I rolled to the side and jumped back.
"You think you can run away from me?"
"Huh?"
Rumble~
I felt the ground shaking violently below me. Then, at that moment, the ground erupted into spikes.
Shink-Shink-Shink!
"Whoa!"
Glad that I raised my agility and perception or else I would've been pierced by those ice spikes. It's not like they stopped, though. As I was still running, the spikes kept on coming.
"I'll give you 2 choices. Surrender or face the consequences."
What consequences? I don't think you're allowed to kill. Or is she going to torture me? I don't want that.
I looked back at the spikes.
These spikes look like they only reach up 5 or 6 meters into the air. If I was able to fly, I could escape from these spikes easily. But my wings will freeze in a matter of seconds.
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.
I stopped in my tracks and jumped up high into the air, bringing out my wings in the process.
I flapped my wings until I reached a height that the spikes couldn't get me.
Fenrir growled at me and start yapping at me. I couldn't hear her quite well, but I think she mentioned she could get me.
Ha, like she could.
Awooooooooooooooooo~
Fenrir started howling. That when I felt this chilly feeling on my wings. I looked over my shoulder and it looks like she froze my wings. Shit, I might have forgotten that she could control how cold it can be.
Ice users use ice magic depending on the temperature, if it's too hot, they're ice magic is ineffective. But when the temperature is cold, not only are their attacks for effective, they can change the temperature to as cold as they want, that is, if they can resist it. Too cold and they might freeze themselves.
As I kept flapping my wings, a small part of it froze. So now my wings were being weigh'd down by the ice.
If it keeps on freezing, I might have to use firestorm.
"You think you can get away from me? Even if you flew all the way into the air, my attacks will reach you no matter what!"
She stomped her paw into the snow. Then the spikes I talked about earlier extended taller and were heading my way.
"What the hell?!"
I'd try evading them, but my wings were becoming more useless and useless. I began lowering altitude, and the spikes were coming at me fast.
I looked at my MP.
[MP: 29594/39500]
I guess I have enough. No more playing easy, like I was anyway. I threw my sword into the air and yelled out.
"DIVINE CHAIN-MAIL!"
"What?"
My body began radiating this bright glow. Armor pieces starting appearing all over my body. It was like one of those transformation sequences, the arms first, then the legs, the chest, and then the helmet. Then a few seconds later, my armor had finished forming. Since divine chain-mail belonged to Divinus first, some parts of the armor were the same as his, all scaly and spiky, but since I was able to use it, I could alter it to look however I wanted. It was the same color, silver, white and blue, but the design doesn't matter, it's the benefits of this armor.
[STR RAISED⬆]
[DEF RAISED⬆]
[RES RAISED⬆]
When I use divine chain-mail, my strength, defense, and resistance rises by 25 percent. But since this is armor...
[AGL REDUCED⬇]
It will obviously slow me down. So right now, evading won't be a good thing for me. But I can still fly now. Not only does divine chain-mail grant me armor, it also grants my wings armor. The armor on my wings are extremely light, but it offers enough protection against arrows.
My sword came back, and I caught it. Then I flew higher into the air.
"Firestorm."
Boom!
A cluster of raging flames appeared around me, the spikes below me didn't melt but it did slow them down. After that, I start transferring energy into my sword. My sword starting glowing until it was completely wrapped with light.
Sword of light, a spell which engulfs my weapon with light and deals a large amount of damage, I've tried it on a monster once and it completely obliterated it. Since Fenrir's a spirit, I don't even need to feel bad about killing her. Hmm, but then, if I don't kill her and let her run, she can lead me to Yuki and then I'll be facing her.
Fenrir tried to find me through the smoke, but I was completely gone from her sight. Now that she can't see me, I can pierce her with my sword of light.
What happened next was unexpected. When I jerked my head to the right, a spike was traveling towards me.
"What?"
"You could hide yourself in smoke all you want, but if you can't control your aura, you're asking for punishment."
"My aura?"
I looked around, and I hadn't notice that my blue fiery aura was visible. I forgot, whenever I use Divine Chain-mail, my aura appears along with it.
I would fly higher into the air to avoid the spike, but it kept going after me like a heat-seeking missile.
I gripped onto the blade handle as I swung at the spike, it shattered into pieces on impact. Now that I was clear from any danger, I could now throw this at Fenrir. I carefully aimed it at Fenrir, then I yelled.
"TAKE THIS! HA!"
I threw my sword straight at Fenrir.
Boom!
Whoosh!
It traveled at a lightning speed, it even made a sonic boom as I threw it. Then I heard it crash.
As the smoke cleared, I had noticed that I missed, my a meter.
"Tch, I didn't get her."
"I surrender."
"Huh?"
Fenrir had her head down and slowly began walking towards me.
"I give up."
The blizzard had calmed down, and now it was a regular snowfall, calm and quiet. Did she just say she surrendered?
"Why?"
"I can't possibly compare to you."
Me? No, she wasn't looking at me. She was looking at my sword, which was still wrapped around in light.
"Who are you talking about?"
She would lift her paw and then pointed at my chest with one of her claws.
"The spirit of light inside you."
