❅ Her Life ends by drowning?

Cring. Cring.

Her phone rang making her jolt awake. She yawned and rubbed her eyes. With a half-eye open, she moved her hand to grab the phone. Though, her arm brushed something metal which was the tray of her breakfast.

She then paused.

Lina didn't remember putting a tray next to her bedside the table.

She answered the call and spoke, "Hello?" glancing at the clock which is already past noon.

A familiar masculine voice ranged through her ears, "How's the pet, Mrs. Scarlett?" said with a teasing tone.

Lina's face turned dark.

"Harley? It's a damn man, not a pet! Are you insane?!!"

"He had a collar. You fed him so he's your pet!" he said in a mocking tone.

Apart from Lina calling Harley, the human-cat man perked up his ears and listened behind her front door, making him boil his veins.

"No way! You're insane! If some people found this out, it's indeed clearly human trafficking!"

"It's normal for rich people," he said as if he was confident.

The cat-human left with a dark aura that has lingered through him; neither wanted to hear more, he was extremely sad and disappointed.

"W-why you.." As much she wanted to throw the phone, she decided to hold it. If Harley was here, she doesn't mind to throw him a punch as much she wanted it badly.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that our vacation will delay abit longer. It'll take a month or perhaps, a few months since my partner and I, decided to stay here due to the things we have to take care of first- " a roar sounded in the background, making Lina flinched.

"Mark, don't let it escape!" Harley yelled at him. "I'm so sorry darling, I have to go. Good luck with him. " he cut off before Lina make any response.

Lina begins to frown.

Dammit, he escaped again from what I am going to ask.

She sighed then glanced at the tray, wondering if it was that guy. Did he feel sorry for her? A lot of scenarios swirled at her little mind, last night. A gush of intense hatred from her memory. He better not. She will never forgive him at all.

She takes a fork then, bite. Yummy!

Still warm. He did heat it up on the microwave for her, making her smile.

After eating her meal, she brought the tray to the kitchen and placed it on the sink to wash it later. She noticed it was already past noon, the presence could no longer be found. Where could he be?

She went upstairs to his room, but no trace of him.

She searched everything inside the mansion, but still find nothing.

Did he escape? She wondered.

As she went downstairs, she gazed at the scene outside the glass of the window. After the sun rays fading, the mansion was filled with an eerie silence. She glanced at the clock that says, 6:30 pm.

Not waiting any longer. She decided to have fresh air and went through the backdoor of the mansion.

As she was outside, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Like she stepped in another world, it was eerily quiet, aside from the water running and the trees wheezing its leaves.

There's a lake behind a huge fountain. On the ground, you can see different strange flowers growing with it. The trees and the grass swayed as if it was dancing when the night breeze blow them. The moon beamed down to the lake, as the rays of the moonlight reflected upon the water, making them sparkle.

Lina's eyes shone as she gazed at it, she could describe it essentially mesmerizing breathtaking and beautiful.

The garden was dark and calm. Overgrown grass almost covered the whole garden. The atmosphere here was pretty different, although this place seems it had been abandoned.

She briefly contemplated going back to the mansion, never looking back, reminding herself that it's already late but something stopped her, it was like a faint song calling her in, through the fountain.

She watched her reflection through the water, that showed her face gazing back through her with black hair tied in a bun, wearing a black robe, with a sleeveless shirt and trousers beneath. Everyone could be mistaken she was a guy. She didn't mind wearing it at all. It was more comfortable wearing guy's clothes. Besides, she's only living at the mansion after all. Or so, she thought.

There's also something interesting that gets her attention. It was a silver cat statue, sitting above the fountain. It licked its paws with its captivating golden eyes seemed to alluringly gazing at her.

Behind her, something snapped. It was like a crisp of broken leaves stepped by someone.

A dark figure fretted over her which Lina felt the hair rising in her skin with fear. And so, a pair of hands grabbed her shoulder and made a simply push toward the huge fountain.

She thought she'll get wet and reach on the fountain floor but find there's no ending on her fall that makes her yelp to grab something although it's too late when she's already falling. "Whelp, I can't swim!" she cried out.

Falling.

Deeper.

And deeper.

Not leaving an end to it.

She knew that she was sinking, sinking and sinking non-stop through the depths of the water. She tried to move her arms and legs but no to avail. She doesn't even know how to swim.

She regretted now for not learning to swim. It made her laughed mentally.

That's it. She's gonna die by drowning.

Her life is so fucked up.
