•Chapter 1: Introductions•

In a white padded room, there lies four completely different people.

The first begins to awaken. His wavy dark brown hair is a mess, he wipes it out of his face to reveal his bright green eyes. He looks around, the lights, they're to bright. As his eyes begin to adjust he stands up. All he can make out is that there are three other people in the room with him. He can see another start to sit up. It's a guy around his age. He walks over and offers the blond haired man with dark hazel eyes a hand up. "What happened?" The man still sitting asks as he rejects his offer and stands up on his own. "I'm not sure.. I was going to ask you the same thing." The dark haired man says trying to stay calm. "Who the hell are you?!" The blond haired man yells.

He's upset, for understandable reasons although it startles the dark haired man. "I-I'm Leo.." Leo takes a step back not trying to make the blond haired man more angry. "There is no point in yelling at me, we're in the same Situat-" A woman's voice cuts in, "H-hello?" Both men turn around.

In front of them stands a blue eyed, long green haired, short, beautiful girl. She looks slightly younger but not by much. "W-what's happening?" She asks and Leo can't find himself able to speak to her yet. "I'm Jean" The other boy starts. "Honestly we're not sure, I remember the disease but I'm not sure why we're here or even alive.." He looks her up and down, "um.. what's your name cutie?" Jean asks her confidently although she is obviously not comfortable with being called that by this stranger. "I'm Annie."

She keeps finding herself looking at Leo. "What's your name?" She directs her question to him. "Me?" He points to himself dorkishly. "O-oh I'm Leo!" He says with a smile, revealing his cute, large dimples. Her heart beats a bit faster. Jean cuts in. "It's nice to meet you, but we have to figure out why we're here.. and how to get out."

Leo walks over the the other girl, she's older than everyone here. "We have to wake her.." Leo says to the other two. Annie leans down on her knees and shakes the lady softly. Her brown eyes open slowly. "Hmm, wh-" Annie helps her to her feet. "Where am I?" Leo takes a glance around the white room. "None of us have any idea.. what's your name?" The older lady looks around at the others. She has short black hair and she's tall but no taller than the men. "I'm Katie.. I'm 42, how old are you kids?"

Jean is the first to answer. "I'm Jean, I'm 23!" He says like he's proud of his age. "My name is Annie, I am 18." Annie answers next and then Leo. "I'm 20 and my name is Leo". As Jean goes to say something the speaker on the ceiling cuts in. They look at each other. "Hello fellow "powers". Since we're introducing ourselves. I'm Otis and I'm 37, I'm a scientist!" The man says professionally. "It's been 6 months since the disease finished the job I created it to do.." As he continues the group looks at each other very confused. Their eyes widen as he admits that he had created the disease. "6 months?!" Leo whispers.

None of them knew it had been this long. They've been held captive by Otis. "As you all know the disease affected the brain. Now that means anyone who survived this disease has a different kind of brain. One with powers related to your mind. There are others out there like you. If or when you are to meet them, your job is to explain this to them. Each of you have different but all mind related powers. For now you need to learn how to use them. Once you've all successfully learned the powers, you can leave. After you leave you will need to create a society for yourselves. Learn to survive. Good luck my 'powers'." He ends his speech and the group just looks at each other. "Powers?.. mind.. what does this even mean?!" Jean rolls his eyes and sighs. "We can't leave till we figure out our 'power' we have to figure out what that means so we can get out of here.." Annie says, worried. "Ok, what kind of powers can you have that are related to your mind?" Leo asks and Annie replies. "Maybe moving things?"

"Okay, well maybe we all should try and move things first." Leo states and Jean rolls his eyes. "You guys really think this psycho, that KIDNAPPED us is telling us the truth?!" He yells. "We have to try, do you wanna be stuck here till we die?" Leo says back almost in a yelling voice. "SUPER POWERS?! Are you o if your damn minds?" Jean storms off to the doors and starts banging on them yelling profanities. "He's not helping.." Annie says clearly upset now. "Want to just keep trying our idea until something works?" Leo asks as he puts his hand in Annie's shoulder softly to sooth her. She looks up at him feeling a bit calmer. "Yeah. Then he will have to believe us." Leo smiles. "That's right. Katie?"

"Yeah?" She asks back. "Would you like to go first?" He asks but she shakes her head. "I have already figured mine out." They both look at her surprised. "What is it?" Annie asks, now happy with hope in her soul. "I have been able to read your minds.." She says and looks down. "Well that's great! But what's wrong?" Leo asks. "I just.. I feel guilty for reading your minds when that's not my business.." Annie cuts in. "Hey.. it's ok we're not mad at you, we're even closer to getting out of here now!" Katie smiles. "Thanks.."

"Yeah.. but is there any way to turn it off?" Leo asks. "Yes, I can choose who I want to read and when so if you don't want me in your head just say so.. and I'll keep my word" she smiles. "Thank you Katie.. but for now you can read mine if you want." Annie says and smiles. Leo smiles from seeing her smile.
