Chapter 39

After a long time Grant regained consciousness.

But even after surviving such an ordeal, he couldn't feel relieved.

Instead there was a bitter feeling in his heart.

'What a waste.'

His familiar voice seem to resound through his mind.

'To not use such a excellent body....'

The indifference in his voice pierced through his pride.

Grant's fists clenched unknowingly as he looked down at his skill section.

Grant felt it, as of now his affinities have reached perfection.

Moving his body, Grant walked towards the unmoving Mio.

Her entire lower body was missing, while her upper body was filled with various wounds, stretching his hand Grant touched her cold skin.

There was no doubt.

The Black Spider Of Calamity, Mio has died.

'Truly foolish.'

Grant waved his hand making his staff which was thrown aside by William fly back to him.

'Unlike you who was handed everything on a silver plate, he is build purely on effort alone.'

A warm light came out of his staff, enveloping Mio's dead body.

"I'll show you."

He said even though there was no one around.

"Magic isn't inferior to the sword."

As if convincing himself.

"9th tier Light magic [Revival]."

Grant felt the figure of an already dead man looking down on him.

"One day...."

A glint passed through his eyes while his hand holding onto the staff tightened.

"I will beat you."

At a pace visible to the naked eye, Mio's lower body regenerated, the black blood covering her vanished revealing her perfect figure in all its glory.

Grant moved the mana in his surrounding making a black dress cover Mio's body.

Sitting beside the unconscious Mio, Grant waited for her to wake up.

The image of William man handling Root, Lancer and Sofia passed through his mind.

"One day I will definitely surpass you...."

A sigh escaped Grant's mouth.

"But for now thank you."

In the next moment a blinding light descended from the sky covering him and Mio, But Grant didn't show any reaction as he already knew who it was.

The next moment, Gra t was teleported ti a familiar palace together with Mio.

In front of him stood a person he was all too familiar with.

Goddess.

Taking a step forward she directly hugged Grant before he could say anything.

"I knew you wouldn't be defeated so easily."

Goddess caressed Grant's beautiful golden hair with a smile hung in her perfect looking face.

Grant didn't say anything neither did he show any reaction, his mind seem to present somewhere else entirely.

Seeing the scene Goddess released him from her hug, she wanted to say something but seeing his uninterested eyes she choose to shut up.

Instead she focused her gaze on the unconscious Mio.

"She's pretty even though she is a monster...."

Her casual remark made Grant turn his gaze towards her.

Not noticing his expression the Goddess continued in an exited voice.

"With that traitor Sofia and detestable Lancer gone the demon race no longer possess anyone who could stand against you..."

An expression of ecstasy appeared on her face.

"And with the death of that detestable lizard, I now have full control over the world!"

Turning back she extended her hand and gently touched Grant's face.

"And it's all thanks to you my child, I knew I wasn't wrong in selecting you, my Hero"

An wide smile was pasted on the Goddess face as if she had already won the war, unfortunately in her feeling of happiness she failed to notice the dark light inside Grant's eyes.

"I'll take my leave first, i want to rest."

Slapping away the hand from his face, Grant moved towards the unconscious Mio and held her up in his arms.

"Ah---yes you must be feeling tired after the fight, should I send you back to the empire directly?", Goddess said in a hurry while her eyes were stuck on the unconscious Mio in Grant's arms.

"No, send us back to the Stella Fort."

"It seems like your hatred towards the demons have reached another level, just right make sure to exterminate each and everyone of those pests...."

Grant just gave a simple nod, not saying anything, soon after the familiar light once again surrounded them before Grant along with Mio appeared back inside his mansion in Stella Fort.

"Young master!"

The old butler Hans was startled by their sudden appearance making him unknowingly shout in a loud voice.

"Prepare a room."

Hans looked at Grant before seeing the peacefully sleeping Mio in his arms, he nodded his head before quickly guiding Grant forward.

Leaving the sleeping Mio inside the room, Grant made his way back towards his incomplete magic tower.

While he was walking a small inconspicuous magic circle appeared above his palm, looking awfully familiar to the one Root possessed.
