Chapter 23(Battle Part-1)

Sitting on the back of the wyvern, Grant thought in his mind.

'Should I make a flashy entrance like I did in the Empire's battle? that seems to be the best way of earning divine points....'

He was thinking about what type to spell he should use in the upcoming battle.

"We should be arriving soon Hero."

The woman in armour sitting behind him said as she looked down at the familiar terrain.

"I see."

Grant replied in a small voice as he looked at the horizon, there was still a long time before night which means his skill [Night Immunity](S) would not be coming in handy this time either.

The skill isn't that helpful honestly.

Well it's better than nothing.

Just like the woman in armour said, a battlefield appeared in his vision soon after, as they were high above in the sky, Grant could see one big blue mass stationed outside the Imperial City Ur.

'Let's go with Earth type then.'

Grant made a decision as he looked at the demonic army,

He couldn't spot any demon general this time in the army, maybe because he was too far away or perhaps the person was well hidden somewhere.

But it didn't matter to him.

"Spirit of Eath, Sand and Stone....

Closing his eyes Grant started concentrating on the chant.

"Your power is patience and endurance....."

Divine points were being consumed.

The woman in armour stared dumbly at the beautiful yellow light surrounding Grant.

She wasn't a magician but even so she was able to see little fairies dancing around Grant.

It was a breathtaking scene.

".....I call you forth to infuse me with growth...."

His voice was soft yet she was somehow able to clearly hear every single word that came out of his mouth.

Turning her gaze she looked down at the demonic army.

It seemed like they have also spotted the wyvern flying in the sky.

Just as she was wondering what magic Grant was casting.

'Huh?'

Something caught her attention.

A small black spot which was moving around.

'No that's...'

Her pupils behind the helmet contracted as a sense of danger assaulted her.

Something was flying towards them at an amazing speed.

And it's target....

"Hero----"

The speed of the projectile increased multiple folds in an instant.

"To share your flowers and fruits...."

To her horror she saw that Grant's eyes were closed, he has yet to notice the incoming danger.

It was like time came to a stop for her.

She could see the thing approaching them, it was a sword giving off an powerful aura.

Her body could only move ever so slowly, she watched as the sword made it's way towards Grant.

In an instant she knew.

It was too late for her to shout out to him now.

Almost instinctively her body moved forward.

------------------

"Hero----"

Grant knitted his brows as he wonder d why the woman was suddenly shouting his name.

He was already close to finishing the spell yet for some reason she was trying to distract him now.

Not minding her he continued chanting.

*Gush*

'?'

Suddenly he felt a warm liquid cover his face.

Feeling that something has gone wrong, he quickly opened his eyes.

A few centimetres away from his eyes he could see the tip of a blood cover d sword.

Moving his gaze, he saw the woman in armour standing in front of his with her stomach pierced by the sword.

*Gush*

Her figure trembled as she started falling, almost instinctively Grant used his hand and grabbed her.

A multitude of thoughts went pass his head in an instant as he traced back the trajectory of the sword.

The perpetrator came in his vision.

A small kid wearing a red cape and a woman with white hair.

Lancer and Sofia.

A Superior Dragon and the Dragon Slayer!.

Grant's eyes regained their calmness as he saw them, waving his left hand a staff suddenly appeared in it.

"Now come forth in golden splendor"

"You who hide underground...."

"I call you now."

--------------------

"Wooh did you get him Lancer?"

Sofia said in a carefree voice as she stared at the wyvern flying in the sky.

Lancer frowned as he said.

"No but I managed to kill his companion."

"Ho~ he must be super pissed then.", Sofia said in a cheerful voice as she waved her waved her bastard sword.

"Hey how about you launch me up there."

There was a hint of madness in the depths of her eyes as she unblinkingly stared at the wyvern above.

Lancer touched his chin as he thought of the suggestion.

"It's not a bad idea."

"I know right! let's do it!"

Sofia tensed her leg muscle as she got ready to jump as high as she could.

But before she moved, a dark shadow suddenly covered her surrounding.

''Tsk looks like we will have to fight a night battle."

Sofia said in an annoyed voice.

She waited for Lancer to say something but he didn't which made her all the more pissed off.

"Why are you taking so long to cast a simple wind spell? hurry up! aren't you a superior drag----"

Sofia stopped speaking as she saw Lancer staring at the sky with his mouth hing wide open.

"What's with that stupid expression....."

Her sarcastic voice grew smaller and smaller as she instinctively moved her head upward.

What appeared in her eyes wasn't the night sky which she had thought.

Instead it was something much more terrible than what her imagination could have allowed.

A rock.

A rock so big that it covered the entirety of her vision.

*Gulp*

The corners of Lancet's mouth twitched as he stared at the giant meteor heading their way.

"What a monster..."

-----------------------

Grant stared at the 8th tier Earth magic [Meteor] he just casted as he directed the wyvern to fly towards the Imperial Capital Ur.

"I let my guard down."

Grant said in a small voice as he looked down at the woman in armour who seemed to be on her last breadths.

*Grab*

Suddenly she tightly grabbed Grant's hand and said in a weak voice.

"P-please t-take care of the------"

"Your not going to die so shut up."

Grant rolled his eyes as he stopped her mid-sentence without waiting for her he pointed his staff at her.

A holy light surrounded her as the giant hole in her stomach started healing at a pace visible to the naked eye.

'I can cast low ranking spells without a chant...'

*Boom*

Suddenly a loud noise attracted Grant's attention as he turned his head and stared at the direction of the demonic army.

His brows knitted together when he saw the meteor has been sliced in two from the middle barely managing to avoid hitting the demonic army below.

"Superior dragon indeed....."

One of the only 8 beings in existence.

Only one eight tier spell is far from enough for killing one of them.

Seeing that the demonic army was retreating, Grant decided to go the Imperial Capital Ur instead of launching another attack.
