The Marshal’s Little Fairy 3

Bai Liang knelt down on the joined tombstone and placed the chrysanthemum bouquet in his hands in front of it. A holographic device was embedded in it which showed the picture of his parents together as a light screen and he pressed his palms together to pray for them.

Although there were several customs in this empire, most people here didn't believe in reincarnation and afterlife because of the advancement of science and technology. Apparently, it was proven that a 'certain energy' was released from the physical body after it died and dispersed into particles which would then disappeared into the sky.

People here believed that the stardust in the space was the accumulation of this 'certain energy'.

Still, he knew best that heaven did exist and prayed for the safe journey of the Starling couple in the River of Reincarnation in Cain's stead. The original Cain loved his parents dearly. His only wish was to make them proud and so he did his best to join the military with his grudge against the Parasites. He entered the same corps with the protagonist although at a different division. Bai Liang guessed that was why he could use this body.

Dantalion looked at Bai Liang's solemn praying and couldn't help but wonder just who was he praying to. He didn't recall that the Starlings had a religion. Could it be that he found enlightenment in his coma which increased his spirituality?

Bai Liang opened his eyes and stood up. He turned to Dantalion with a small smile, "Thank you for accompanying me here, Sir Dante. I am fine now."

"You may visit here anytime you want. I have hired someone to clean it regularly," Dantalion wore back his cap. "Is there anything you wish to take from your home?"

Bai Liang shook his head, "I want to leave it as it is."

Dantalion nodded in understanding, "Shall we leave?"

Bai Liang gave a nod.

The two of them walked back to the cemetery gate where Dantalion's hover car waited for them. The car didn't have any wheels and was instead mobilized with anti-gravitational technology.

Personal cars belonging to civilians were only allowed to fly at most 3 meters above the ground while those with governmental status could fly 5 meters. Those who were high-ranked personnel in the military, such as Dantalion, and the members of royalty had no height restrictions.

As such, with Dantalion's hover car, they could basically go anywhere with the fastest speed. They arrived at Tempest Corps' military base an hour later and Dantalion showed him to his office. The soldiers they passed by couldn't help but look curiously at him and had some guesses as to who he was. The matter of the empire's spiritual data database becoming awry was widely known after all.

Dantalion's office was on the topmost floor of the main office building. When they entered, a bespectacled man was inside and slightly bowed at his superior. In his gloved hand, he was holding what seemed to be a tablet but made out of pure, thin glass-like material.

"Marshal, the things you requested have been prepared," the man gestured at the silver box on the guest table. "Also, first to twelfth division have welcomed their new recruits today. I have submitted the reports to your desk along with some other documents that need your signature in 2 days' time. Marshal, will you be delivering the welcoming speech this year as well?"

Dantalion nodded.

"The orientation for each division will end at 3 and the new recruits will be gathered at the main hangar to start the welcoming ceremony at 3.30," the man fixed his glasses. "Then, I excuse myself to prepare the arrangement."

He slightly bowed before striding out of the room.

"His name is Ivan Ervin, Tempest Corps' second admiral," Dantalion said as the door closed. "Since he has been arranging my affairs because of my lack of a proper assistant, you may ask him for advice."

"Sir Dante, you mean…?" Bai Liang looked at him in askance.

"You will be my assistant from now on and, consequentially, the corps' chief assistant," Dantalion affirmed. "It is the fastest way for you to familiarize yourself with the corps. You will still be dispatched under certain circumstances, but your main task right now is to study the system and mechanism of how things work in my corps."

In the last world, after knowing his seal was forged, Huo Zhang beat down the basic of handling documents to all administrative personnel and high-ranking officers under him. Bai Liang also became Huo Zhang's temporary assistant from time to time when he was swamped with work and didn't have any time to do anything else.

He had also studied about this world's technologies intensively with Xue Liang during his stay in the hospital so much so that he split his mind into 10. He shouldn't have any problem in managing Dantalion's documents and affairs.

"I understand," Bai Liang readily accepted the task. "But I do not have any communicator yet."

"That is not a problem," Dantalion walked to the silver box.

Bai Liang followed him and watched as he opened the box. Inside of it was a complete set of deep blue military uniforms along with their boots and Tempest Corps' military badge. Aside from it were some tools such as a black communicator bracelet, a spatial storage ring, a particle shield device, and a plasma gun.

Dantalion picked up the communicator and gave it to Bai Liang, "This is a military-issued communicator. It is more durable than commercially issued ones, so you do not need to worry about accidentally breaking it. You can only access certain things through it for security reasons, but you can still use the Star Network."

Bai Liang accepted it and wore it on his left wrist.

"This spatial storage ring has a 100 cubic meter capacity and is the latest version which can keep food fresh inside," Dantalion gave the ring and picked up the sleek silver tube next. "This is a particle shield device for protection. Keep it with you all the time. You can manually use it, but it will automatically activate when it detects that you are in danger.

Bai Liang wore the ring on his left middle finger and studied the particle shield device in his hand. It had a single button on one side of it with a bar of light indicators to show the remaining energy inside. It was currently still 100%.

"It recharges by itself which takes about 2 hours from 0 to 100%," Dantalion added as he took out the thin black gun, lined with iridescent blue light. His tone lowered slightly, "This is a plasma gun. It is currently locked and you can only shoot it once you are authorized to engage. With your position as my assistant, the safety lock is under my authorization and I will immediately be notified once you place your fingerprint here for 2 seconds."

Dantalion showed the small, circular black plate at the rear of the gun.

"Your time and coordinate will be recorded once your gun is activated alongside the duration and the number of shots you make. If someone else other than you tried to use your gun, it will also be recorded and I will be notified as well."

Bai Liang accepted it, "Are all plasma guns like this?"

"This is Tempest Corps' protocol," Dantalion answered. "The authorization, record of duration, and the number of shots are only for plasma guns ensued to fairies, engineers, and general workers. The rest is locked by the owner's fingerprint and only their time and coordinate will be recorded. Soldiers who misused their guns will be directly sent to the court martial."

After explaining everything, Dantalion let Bai Liang change into his uniform and went to his desk to look at the documents Ivan submitted to him while he waited.

Bai Liang changed in the office's private bathroom and found that the clothes automatically fit themselves to his body. The boots also strapped themselves once his foot touched its tip inside but to open it, he must do it manually.

He admired himself in the full-body mirror for a while. Uniforms really did make people look more handsome.

Looking at the badge in his hand, he thought of something and smiled mischievously. He erased his expression before he walked out.

"Sir Dante, where should I wear the badge?"

Dantalion looked up from his desk screen and halted. His digital pen unknowingly slipped out of his hand with a clatter and rolled off his desk. He couldn't even hear it with the loud thumping of his heart overwhelming his ears.

It was the same uniform that he had seen countless times every single day, but how could it be both so handsome and alluring when this person wore it?

Bai Liang bent down to pick up the pen with a satisfied smile.
