The Marshal’s Little Fairy 2

Spirit testing devices were all connected to a main database which would automatically store the result of the tests. Certified hospitals and the empire's genetic institution had special access to this database which would help them find a matching pair for their patients and clients.

The second Bai Liang's test was conducted, the hospitals and the institution were shocked by blaring alarms from their system's notification to find a garbled set of data under Cain Starling's name. All the dragons in the empire were automatically matched to his name, causing the system to malfunction and forcing the programmers to temporarily shut it down.

It was common knowledge that a fairy could soothe any dragons with a lower grade than them. Still, their compatibility would affect the effectiveness of their treatment and only fairies with 50% compatibility or higher with their dragons could heal them beyond spiritual agitation. This was the lowest requirement for a match.

This meant that this Cain Starling had 50% or higher compatibility with the entire dragons in the empire.

Once this was reported to the emperor, he immediately sent special guards to secure the hospital and the ward Cain Starling was in, but the hospital could only forbid them from entering since it would disturb his recuperation and cause unrest to other patients.

The emperor knew of his circumstances and didn't force it. This fairy was too precious and must be treated carefully to ensure that he could recover in full health. But, the guards were still stationed there though they were told to wear casual attire to not cause any anxiety to the patients.

Bai Liang refused any visit from anyone and told the nurses to just directly ignore them, apologizing to them for the trouble. Rather than troubled, the nurses were equally frustrated since they also wished for Bai Liang's speedy recovery so that he could visit his parents.

Initially, he thought of showing his power so that he could be invited to the same corps where the protagonists were. He didn't expect the testing device to have such a mechanism that would declare his result to the whole empire.

Xue Liang: [Forgive Xiao Xue, Master. Xiao Xue should have checked it more thoroughly.]

'It's alright. I was careless as well,' Bai Liang didn't blame it. 'We should carefully understand this world's technologies before we do anything next time.'

Xue Liang: [Yes, Master. Xiao Xue will study hard.]

The door was knocked and a nurse entered with his breakfast. Bai Liang pressed a button on the bed's control panel and a table promptly set itself out in front of him.

"Mr. Cain, there is someone here to see you," the nurse placed the tray of food down. Before Bai Liang could reject, she hurriedly added, "He is acquainted with your parents and was the one who personally took care of their funeral."

Bai Liang didn't recall such a person in Cain's memory and had a guess. He straightened his back with hidden anticipation in his eyes, "Let him in."

The nurse sighed in relief and left to call in the visitor. If Bai Liang had refused, she didn't know what she should say to that visitor if she could let out any voice at all.

A few minutes later, Bai Liang could feel his soul tremble and his heart quickened. In the previous 2 worlds, it had been him that found his master. Now that it was the opposite and his master walked towards him as he waited, the feeling of euphoria was entirely different and thrilling. It was as if he could feel every inch of distance that disappeared between them despite not seeing his figure yet.

When the door slid open, a tall man with heterochromatic eyes of ink and amethyst stepped inside. He wore a black military cap which covered his oppressive willow leaf eyes with a layer of shadow, making his sharp visage even more profound. His black military uniform shaped his explosive lean body which was layered with his military coat that draped over his broad shoulders.

2 pairs of eyes immediately found one another. Time stood still as if fearing that the passage of time would ruin the beautiful moment of their union. Both sides were fixed on each other's gaze despite the palpitations of their heart as if the second they looked away, everything would vanish like an illusion.

It was when the door closed behind the man did they finally snapped out of their daze.

The man promptly took off his cap, revealing his neatly combed jet-black hair, and rested it on his chest. His finger faintly curled at the rim of his cap, scratching it with his perfectly trimmed nails.

"Forgive me for disturbing your breakfast. My name is Dantalion Castor Arcadia, my acquaintances call me Castor or you may call me Marshal if you are not comfortable with the familiarity."

Bai Liang saw the nervous gesture of the Marshal despite his composed face and felt his heart being tickled. He initially thought that his master would have a similar character to Huo Zhang, but it seems like he was wrong.

"Marshal is older than me, so it is only right to call you with propriety. But since Marshal is my parents' acquaintance, I would like to be familiar with you as well," he faintly smiled. "If it is not too brazen, may I call you Sir Dante?"

Dantalion's fingers clenched as the tip of his ears quietly reddened. He never liked being called by his given name since it sounded too flashy, so he never thought there would come a day when he was thankful he was born with such a name.

The way the little fairy called him was too pleasant to his ears that it felt like his name was coated with honey and dripping with dew. His smile that rivalled the stars was the best accompaniment he could ever wish for his name.

He replied with a nod, "You may."

Bai Liang gestured at the chair by his bedside, "Would you mind accompanying me for my breakfast, Sir Dante?"

Dantalion shook his head and went to the chair step by step. When he sat down and levelled himself with the little fairy, he wasn't prepared to find that he was even more beautiful up close and silently lowered his gaze.

"Sir Dante, forgive me for the belated gratitude," Bai Liang slightly bowed. "I cannot thank you enough for taking care of my parents' funeral."

"Master Starling was a close friend of my late father and was my private mentor in mech operations before I entered the military. I will not be where I am today without his guidance," Dantalion firmly said. "It is only appropriate for me to care for his rest."

"Every time Sir Dante's figure appeared in public, Father always have this proud and joyful look in his eyes," Bai Liang said. "Now I understood why."

Dantalion's chest warmed, "Thank you. It is my honour to be Master Starling's pride and joy."

The two of them fell into a harmonious silence as Bai Liang ate his breakfast. Dantalion had his eyes on the bed sheet though he was discreetly observing the way Bai Liang's hands and fingers moved. He wanted to see how his delicate lips moved as he chewed, but he didn't dare to, feeling that the thought itself was already too perverted.

"If you have any plans on what you wish to do after your discharge, you may tell me. I will help arrange things for you," Dantalion spoke up so as to distract him from unruly thoughts.

Bai Liang slowly placed down his spoon, "About my spiritual grade…"

Dantalion's eyebrows slightly furrowed. He almost forgot about this matter.

"I will make sure that nobody will force you to do anything against your will," he looked up at Bai Liang properly.

His lips parted to say another thing, but then he went through a rare hesitance in his 30 years of life and swallowed his words back.

"Sir Dante, you are already busy it is as a marshal. How could I trouble you in taking care of me?" Bai Liang shook his head. "I personally do not mind serving the country as a healer. It is just that…"

"You do not need to force yourself," Dantalion almost reached out to caress the other's ear in comfort. His hand curled into a fist and he restrained it down.

"I am not," Bai Liang smiled in reassurance. "It is just that, if I can, I wish to work under you, Sir Dante."

Dantalion's eyes faintly widened. He felt his stomach fluttering with 1,000 butterflies and countless bubbles were bursting out of his chest.

They were actually thinking the same thing. Bai Liang was willing to be with him.

"I am aware that I am asking too much–"

"Not at all," Dantalion couldn't stop himself from holding Bai Liang's soft, milky hand. "It is our best course of action to have me as your guardian."
