Save Me

One night, Alayna was working the night shift and was engrossed in reading some research papers in her room. Suddenly, without warning, all the lights on her floor flickered off, plunging the area into darkness. Alayna's heart skipped a beat as she was instantly reminded of a traumatic incident from her past. Her body froze, and she found herself unable to move. She desperately wanted to leave the room, but her fear held her back. Alayna frantically searched for her phone to call for help, but in her panicked state, she couldn't locate it, this built extreme anxiety for her she started hyperventilating. Overcome with fear, she fell to the floor, her mind racing with thoughts of what could be happening around her. In her terror, she let out piercing screams, hoping that someone would hear her and come to her rescue.

Luckily, Edward hadn't gone home either, he had to attend a meeting the next day, he was preparing for it in his room. His room was a little farther away from Alayna's room, he called the staff to find the reason for the power outage and fix it immediately, he heard someone screaming so he followed the voice and found out that it was coming from Alayna's room. As it was pitch dark, he couldn't see who it was, he started searching with his cellphone's flashlight. Alayna heard that someone was near her she stopped screaming instead she hid. Edward saw someone hiding behind the curtain. When he drew the curtains open, he saw Alayna hiding her face in her lap.

When he came near her, she started screaming again. He didn't understand what made her so scared. Instead of going near her, he told her that it's him and he put the light on the table. When Alayna realized that it's Edward she stood up and ran towards him and asked him to take her out of the building or else she will die due to suffocation. "Hey hey hey, shhh calm down there is no need to worry, I am with you, and I won't let anything happen to you", he said gently. While walking her outside the hospital he was thinking about what made her so scared of the dark. "Was it because she might be traumatized as a child", he pondered to himself.

While they waited for the power to come back, Edward suggested taking a walk in the tranquil garden of the hospital. Edward noticed that Alayna was still trembling, wanting to make her feel better he asked her if she wanted to see a special place with him. Alayna was thinking about what to say but she wanted to go somewhere better, so she agreed to go with him.

He took her to a place near their hospital, a bridge where the whole city could be seen, the view was absolutely breathtaking the lights in the houses looked like stars on a sky, the lights reflecting on the river, the view was mesmerizing, and the night breeze was making it even more beautiful. Soon she was feeling better and was enjoying the view. Edward asked her what she thought of the view, she told him that she loved it and thanks to him she is feeling relaxed. While she was enjoying the view Edward was looking at her.

After some time, Alayna asked him to take her back as she had to complete her night shift, so she must be at the hospital. Edward asked her to take a rest and go home. He will check if there is any need for her and he will do it instead. Alayna told him that it was her duty and now she is feeling better, so she wants to go back to the hospital.

Edward asked her if she wanted to stay at the hospital, she should take some rest and sleep in the dormitory. Alayna agreed to his suggestion when they arrived at the hospital, she told the staff that she was going to take a nap in her room if there was any emergency, they should call her immediately. Edward was working in his office; his thoughts were all occupied by how Alayna was doing so he went to the room to see what she was doing and how she was.
