To answer the first question it does have a limit he would first have to perceive an attack coming, then cover that part of his body in his darkness control during the day and then turn that part intangible all before that attack hits. It takes a lot of practice, concentration and hard work to even accomplish during the day let alone while fighting. And if he was to be hit once it would be extremely difficult to rebuild the necessary focus to try again.To answer the second part yes he will have his pain amplified but it will only last for a second because he is a game character. His damage will also be doubled and it is easier to cause broken bones or severe bleeding on him.
