A professor (philosophy) I know said old Christianity is different until it was adopted by Roman's and presented a dozens sources. Kinda related but I also found a video in which a professor (I think history) said the same thing. I reckon it had to do with us (humans) probably not religion (the good ones) itself. Someone could manipulate or change it for their personal cause. Like, how old kings usually said they were 'holy' or even god itself as a means of ease in masses manipulation.
