If the pressure was rising it would indicate more pressure. I think you meant lifting. Rising means the amount of pressure is going up and lifting means the pressure itself or rather the source of the pressure is moving up and thus decreases the pressure on the person. English can de difficult, while both refer to going up in this case they mean different things.
