I didn't die though! It's just that life is very hectic at the moment. I'm barely having time to sleep... But worry not! In the next weeks, I should pick it back up and go from where we left off. I already have one large chapter that is mostly written, but I want to create a small stack again so I don't feel pressured to write every single day.
Yeah, I see how that can happen. In my mind, they are deadlier in the sense that if you put them in a crowded place, full of normal humans, they would make a much bigger mess than a Scavenging Fiend possibly could.
Nope. As was said in the next paragraph, they’re much easier to kill, despite being much sturdier. Different Nightmare Creatures have different specialties. The specialty of the Caparace Scavenger is defense. Also, there are plenty of situations in the OG where creatures of similar rank have completely disparate strengths. Things are not that straightforward in Shadow Slave, that’s one of the reasons I enjoy it so much!
And yes, he could also directly control the soul and create a Vessel for it, if he has enough soul power for it. The reason he took the rodents is that the creatures needed to be sufficiently weaker than him and smallish, and he knew that such creatures would be in short supply in the Forgotten Shore.
It'll be better explained in the next chapter. But the logic with the soul slots is: he can store up to four souls weaker than his. The enthralment of them is not limited by his soul, but his mind. So he theoretically could control more than four Vessels by creating the first four and filling the soul slots again. But such a thing would take gigantic amounts of Essence and Essence regeneration. Not to mention, every single use of Darkness they make would also come directly from his reserves. So it will take a long, long time before it becomes feasible.
Boundless is constantly active. It's an attribute that lets his mind influence his body's limits. So in general, as long as he maintains a powerful mind, he can display bodily strength (force, as in muscle power, speed, and reflexes) similar to his next rank. In this case, his strength would be on par with an Awakened. Just remember, although he kills a lot of Carapace Scavengers, and with relative ease, they are no pushovers. These Beasts are all Awakened. The only reason Sunny and Nephis can kill so many of them is because they are outliers. Ordinary Sleepers wouldn't last seconds against one of them.
Yes, but the story of the original is not set in stone here. More pressing matters than the main storyline may end up happening due to Jack’s intervention…
Yep. Great Titan. I also felt quite spooked when it was revealed in the OG.
He is not using it because there is no need to at the moment. The Carapace Scavengers are relatively weak compared to the Nightmare Creatures in his First Nightmare. He'll be using other tools in his arsenal, both because it's more practical and to test them.
In Chapter 29 of Shadow Slave, when Sunny is about to enter the Dream Realm for the first time, the Spell says: [Welcome to the Dream Realm, Sunless!]. I don't know if there is any specific reason behind that, so I made it similar :]
I couldn't find anything about it on the Wiki, but I'm rereading the novel. As soon as the information shows up, I'll change it here. Thanks for the heads-up anyway!
I'll look it up and change right away if that's the case
And then he could just let any Nightmare Creature he fought kill him. - that's not killing himself. The truth is, no matter how you word such a thing, new orders will always create new holes to exploit.
That's actually a good point hahah
