{Chapter 1: Are You Feeling Lucky?}

Inside a rather large city, a human man, named Nero, sat with a dejected expression inside his dilapidated apartment. Hours ago, he had been fired from his job and was now drunker than a skunk. He had worked as a scribe for the government administration but after being falsely accused of a sex scandal with one of the higher ups, he was fired to cover it up. Nero knew the truth, they had used him as an escape goat for one of the 'wealthier class' employees that could pull a few strings with ease. He was still baffled by the whole ordeal and resorted to drinking. That in itself, was an incredibly bad idea because if one took a look at his apartment they would see the remnants of Nero's drunken rage. The television had been hit several times, paints that were once on the wall now strewn about the room in ripped pieces, shattered remains of vases, broken glass from pictures and more evidence of his drunken rageful fit. The only items not touched were his bed, clothes, phone and even the large red chair that he took a liking to. The very chair he sat in now.

*Ding!* A chime rang in his head and made him look around. Nothing changed, the room was still covered in the evidence of his destruction. However, the next moment, Nero froze.

Despite his drunken state, the voice that rang in his head was undeniable. Too real to think it was an illusion from his drunken state. Not to mention the green translucent screen before his eyes. Even with his blurred vision he could make out its contents and it left him baffled.

{Are You Feeling Lucky?}

[Y/N]

The voice spoke as the words appeared. It was incredibly monotone and devoid of any emotion. Nero stared at the screens with a numb look. Must have fallen asleep and dreamed of a better life.. He thought darkly. With a shrug, he mentally accepted.

Nero's eyes widened as a black glyph appeared before him on the floor. It radiated with darkness magic and pulsed in an eerie rhythm. Nero gulped as a woman dressed in a maid outfit appeared before him. The woman had long black hair that seemed to shine from a source of light even where there was none. She had purple, vertical eyes that had slit pupils. They glowed with an eerie loyalty that boarded on obsession.

Her gaze sent a shiver down his spine as she gave him a light smile. Her maid outfit seemed to be made from pure darkness and had a silky texture to them. As she moved her eyes away and looked around the room, the second message appeared. At the same time, Hannah clicked her tongue in annoyance and the apartment was covered in darkness. Nero felt a foreign energy invade his body, filling it with a vigor beyond comprehension. It seeped into his soul and collected inside it before churning and flooding out of it into his body. Instantly, the alcohol was flooded from his veins and his head became incredibly clear. His thoughts moved so fast that it left him dizzy.

The next pull rang in his ears and he gulped in shock. His breathing became heavier due to the sheer number of Gold Coins. He ignored the rest of the words and checked his bank balance on his phone. Sure enough, he had gained 842 Billion Gold Coins. His breathing became more erratic as he looked up just in time for the darkness that covered his apartment to fade away. Everything had returned to the way it was before his drunken fit. His eyes dilated as he looked around and he stood up in shock. The maid, Hannah, looked at him with a look of satisfaction.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Lord Nero." She curtsied and spoke with a voice of pure devotion.

Nero's world spun at the sheer overwhelming sensations he felt and he began to fall as he fainted. Hannah moved with insane speed, catching her master with a worried look. She sighed while looking over his sweaty but sleeping visage. When Hannah had been summoned, everything that could be known about her new master was implanted into her mind to ensure that she would be the best maid ever for him. Yet, the dark silver hair and his sharp features still left her eyes lingering on him. Those beautiful blue sapphires she saw mere moments ago that could only be compared to the dark water jewels of the shadow sea in the underworld stayed stuck inside her mind, filled with awe and surprise, even a little bit of confusion. With a chuckle, Hannah lifted Nero and lightly laid him on his bed, tucking him in before standing at the bedside, waiting for when he would wake up.

Hours passed and the sun began to rise. The city became alive as its inhabitants awakened and started their daily duties. Nero's eyes fluttered as he woke up. With a groan, he sat up but froze as he saw his apartment. Everything was as it was before he came home. He gulped and looked at the figure standing next to his bed. The Dark Maid stood there with a smile on her lips as she watched him. Nero closed his eyes and took some calming breaths.

"All of it... all of it was real..." He whispered to himself in awe.

"Indeed, Lord Nero. All that happened last night was not a dream." Hannah's soft voice was the final nail in the coffin that was labeled as his realization.

Nero ran a hand over his face and stood up. He walked over to his clothing wardrobe and opened it. To his confusion, his clothes were completely missing. He glanced back at the woman and her smile grew a bit. Nero's shadow surged forward and covered his body, yet his vision wasn't impaired. When his shadow receded to the floor, he was wearing a fine black and silver suite. His hair had even been combed back. Nero looked at the stand up mirror next to his wardrobe with a look of surprise.

{Host! Please check out your class status.} The voice reminded him.

Nodding slowly, Nero opened his class status and was pleasantly shocked.

Nero sucked in a cold breath. He was no longer a normal human but a type of mage. Normal people were considered the bottom of the societal ladder and it was a surprise that he had gotten the job he had gotten. The same job that he had lost. Now, he was near the top of that ladder. Mages were considered precious and given plenty of benefits in life. However, Nero was fine with the life he had and quickly decided it was best to keep this hidden. With his new bank balance, he could live life peacefully if he wanted to. Dismissing the screen, Nero remembered the 2 Random Summon Draws he had. As he thought about opening them, two glyphs appeared on the ground before him. Hannah walked up behind him and watched with an amused look over his shoulder.

{Pulling 2 Random Summons....}

{Congratulations! You have received- Lu, A-Rank Juvenile 9-tailed Deception Fox. Rolu, B-Rank Juvenile Soul Serpent.}

On the floor appeared 2 animals. Lu, the 9-tailed Deception Fox yawned as if just waking up. She was no bigger than a common house cat. Each tail was different shades of light colors but the fur on her body was a soft gray. She stretched with her but raised in the air and her legs pushed out before looking around. Rolu, the Soul Serpent, had a diamond shaped head and was out 2 feet long in length. His eyes seemed to constantly swirl with colors, never staying the same. His body was covered in pitch black scales that seemed to absorb the light in the room but they had incredibly thin silver lines across them. One look and Nero could tell the snake was rational and held very little room for emotions.

Lu yipped and jumped up. In a single fluid motion, she landed onto his shoulder and sat down with an air of comfortability. Rolu slithered over to Hannah and she crouched down with an outstretched hand. Rolu slithered up her arm and rested around her neck. Hannah softly rubbed the tip of her finger over his head as he closed his eyes. It even looked like the serpent was smiling. Nero blinked a couple times before shaking his head.

"So, where to now, Lord Nero." Hannah whispered to him from his back.

"I... I don't know... Maybe.." He glanced back at her over his shoulder before trailing off into his thoughts.

"Maybe?" She pressed him with a raised eyebrow.

"Maybe I'll open a tavern somewhere... Live a quiet life." He answered with a thoughtful look.

"That sounds perfect, Lord Nero." Hannah agreed with her soft voice.

"Well, let's go then." He chuckled with a shake of his head as he walked to the apartment entrance.

Hannah smiled and followed him. However, she stopped and the apartment was covered in darkness once more. When it receded, Hannah quickly caught up behind Nero. The apartment was now clear of all his personal belongings. She would be a failure as a maid if she didn't pack her master's belongings.
