Chapter 4

Next day!

They had a class in the afternoon the next day. On arriving in class, she heard people whispering while staring at her so she was sure she they were talking about her. She entered the class and sat down and her friend, Claris immediately came and asked "Have you heard?" Candy was perplexed and asked what she was talking about. Claris cleared her throat and said "There are rumors going on about you and Daniel. People are saying you guys know each other out of school and they say you are using him because he looks wealthy not to forget that Daniel likes you.". She was aghast. That was a whole lot for her to take. Before she could say something, Daniel arrived so she kept quiet. Daniel greeted her but she didn't reply. Daniel asked "did I do something wrong?" she said no and immediately took out her book and pretended to be focused. Daniel didn't disturb her any more so she was shocked but didn't say anything. The lecturer soon entered the class and all the murmurs came to a halt. Since they had two hours break after the current class, Daniel decided to talk to her after that. After two hours the lecturer left the class. Immediately he left, Candy went and sat beside Claris obviously ignoring Daniel. He patiently waited for their discussion to end to no avail. She was obviously ignoring him and bringing up new topics of discussion. It was that clear. His patience ran thinner and thinner to the point where he went and dragged her away, took her to a quiet alley and asked "Do we have any problem? Why are you giving me a cold shoulder?" Candy kept quiet and refused to speak. He got pissed off and said "it's either you speak or stay here with me and let the others have more gossip to talk about. Just so you know someone filled me in on the rumors and I don't think that's enough reason for you to be avoiding me" he jokingly added "the rumors are not completely false you know". Candy blushed and soon they both walked out of the alley but this time giving a cold shoulder to the rumors. Claris immediately came and joined them, said hi to Daniel and we all walked to the school canteen.
