Upon entering the tribe, the first thing Spencer came in contact with was the head of a crudely made spear pointed at his chest.
"Who are you?"
One of the cavemen came up to Spencer pointing its spear at him menacingly. Spencer had almost killed him due to the instincts of all the predatory creatures he had absorbed flaring up within him.
But he suppressed the urge to kill, and only raised his hands into the air to show he meant no harm. Opening his mouth, he spoke in their primitive language.
"I am no harm to you. I remain lost without a tribe and have been searching for this land for somewhere to go."
The outsider speaking their tribe's native language caught the man off guard. Spencer was not similar in appearance to them in the slightest, after all. The event drew a lot of attention to him from the surrounding tribesmen and women.
"Where you come from?"
A second man walked up to Spencer pointing the tip of his weapon and questioned him. Spencer hadn't come up with a backstory as of yet, he didn't know how to respond.
The cavemen observed Spencer and noticed that he was not responding to the question at hand, he pointed the spear towards Spencer's neck, trying to pressure him into answering.
This action made Spencer's instincts flare up violently. In response to the man, struggling to hold back, Spencer grabbed the wooden section of his spear.
The man attempted to pull the spear away from Spencer's grasp, but it would not budge, no matter how hard he tried, how much strength he exerted. Spencer watched as he struggled and couldn't help but think how pathetic this primitive being was.
He had let go of the spear and watched as the caveman fell back on his rear. Seeming frustrated by Spencer's action the caveman swiftly got up and thrust his weapon at Spencer's neck in an attempt to kill him for the humiliation he suffered.
Spencer observed this and grabbed the spear with his left hand and shattered it. Then, he grabbed the man by his neck and snapped it in reflex.
Realizing what he did, Spencer quickly dropped the now dead caveman and looked at the rest of the tribe to see how they would respond to him killing one of their own. As he expected, the tribe didn't take his actions very well.
All of the tribe members picked up their weapons and surrounded Spencer. They all had an angry yet worried look on their faces. Seeing how easily Spencer killed one of their own left a lasting impression on them.
Before the people of the tribe could attack Spencer, he decided he should try to de-escalate the situation. He didn't want to kill off the only form of intelligent life he has come in contact with after countless years of solitude.
"Wait! I can aid your tribe in whatever it needs, I only ask that I remain here."
Spencer proposed a deal that he thought would be appealing to them. Some lowered their weapons to think about Spencer's proposal, others stayed vigilant and continued to point their spears.
One of the individuals holding a spear walked up to Spencer and began to speak.
"What could you do for us?" the man asked.
"I could hunt for this tribe and its people."
When Spencer said this, the individual backed away and went to the rest of the tribe. It sounded as if they were discussing the agreement on whether they would let Spencer into the tribe to help them hunt.
Eventually, the discussion came to an end, and the same individual came back.
"We will let you in if you bring us food." he crudely said.
Nodding his head in agreement, Spencer walked outside of the tribe's borders and vanished into the forest. Spencer was moving at hundreds of miles an hour through the shrubbery, avoiding obstacles as he went.
Quickly scanning his terrain, Spencer was looking for a decently sized animal that he could bring back to the tribe, so they would accept him. Only a few minutes after his departure, Spencer spotted a suitable offering; he saw a deer-like creature twice the size of that of its modern-day counterpart, eating grass in a field.
Running up behind the creature, Spencer immediately broke the deer's neck without any resistance from the deer whatsoever. Picking it up, Spencer began making his way back to the tribe carrying the dear over his shoulder.
The sun started to recede by the time he made it back to the tribe's grounds. When he entered, he walked to its center and dropped the dead carcass of the dear onto the soil in front of the tribe's people.
"I have finished hunting." Spencer proudly exclaimed.
The people of the tribe gathered around the corpse of the deer and were amazed by its sheer size.
"How do you hunt so quick!" One of the tribesmen shouted at him.
Spencer did not respond to its question but instead asked one of his own.
"Is this enough?"
The man who gave the request to him previously woke from his daze and nodded his head at Spencer.
Spencer contently nodded back in response and began walking away. The individual seeing this, ran after him in a hurry.
"Wait! What about your share of the hunt?"
Still not answering, Spencer raised another question, ignoring the previous one.
"Where can I stay?"
With the arrival of the next morning, Spencer could be seen sitting in a lotus position on a bed made of animal skin inside a tent that was made of leaves.
Spencer was up all night, meditating as his body did not require him to sleep. He was still trying to find a way to step into the realm of the truly supernatural, but he still could not figure it out no matter how much he tried.
Sensing something approaching his tent, Spencer opened his eyes to see who was approaching him, entering his tent was the same man from yesterday.
"Is there something you need?"
Spencer questioned the individual on why he was invading his tent.
"We need to go hunting."
*SIGH*
Spencer sighed in response, standing up from his meditative position. He followed the man out of his tent and to the border of the tribe. After a few moments of walking, they came to meet a group of tribesmen holding spears and roped made from vines.
Reaching the group, Spencer noticed that they were glaring at him with malice in their eyes. This confused him greatly.
"This is Quintus, Hagen, and Cassius. I go by the name, Agron." said the man pointing towards each man in question.
Agron began telling Spencer the names of each member of the group in order but didn't seem to mention the one female in the group.
"And who is she?"
Pointing at the female, Spencer asked Agron. Seeing who he was pointing at, Argon let out a sigh.
"That is Dinah, she is the mate of the person you killed, she is taking his role as a hunter." He answered.
As Agron introduced Dinah, she gave Spencer a look of pure hatred. He decided to ignore this and looked at Agron.
"Okay, let's start the hunt!" Agron exclaimed looking at the rest of the group.
Saying this, Agron began leading the group into the forest in the pursuit of food for the tribe.
Only 2 chapters today, as there was a lot of extra work. I have rewritten most of them, and from this point onwards there will be more and more changes sewn into the original story. I'm still going to keep the original flow.
