[ Mount Justice September 22nd. 18:43 EDT]

Kai had been sitting in his bed mewling over his thoughts about going to school. " What a drag. I can't believe batman is making us go to school. I hate school. It also doesn't help that superboy nearly got us into a fight on our first day."

Kai said as he sat in his bed.

" I wonder if donna's up. I wonder if Donna would come over?" Kai wondered as he looked at the girl's name in his phone. Suddenly kai dropped his phone as he had heard a loud explosion inside the cave. The explosion itself shook the entirety of the cave.

Kai got up and ran out of his room to find the source of the explosion.

"SHAZAM!"

* Crack Boom! *

Kai transformed as he raced into the main hall.

" SUPERBOY! Miss Martian Kid flash!"

Kai yelled as he found his unconscious teammates on the floor.

" What the hell is? ARGHHHH!"

Kai yelled as he was suddenly hit in the back by a giant ball of fire.

" Robin We're under attack!"

Kia yelled as robin entered the cave.

" Hold on! Artemis is right behind me."

Robin said as he threw his Bird disks at the fire throwing threat.

" What are we fighting?"

Robin asked as he dodged fire.

" I don't know!"

Kai yelled back to the boy.

Get Down!"

Robin yelled as Artemis walked into the cave. The young woman gasped in hsock as she arrived to see two of her friends being assaulted by some kind of threat.

" Robin! Sentry! What's going on?!"

Artemis yelled as she shot arrows at the creature.

" Arghh! Don't know. We were suddenly attacked by whatever this is."

Kai explained as he flew through the fire looking for whatever it was attacking them.

" Ugh! We're sitting ducks right here head for the exit."

Robin said as he brushed himself off the ground. The group turned and ran towards the exit to the cave, Artemis and Kai shooting arrows and blasts of fire back at the creature.

" Or not!"

Robin said as a large wave of water blocked their path. The group tried to turn back but was engulfed by the water. The three recovered swiftly and began firing back at their attackers, dodging tornadoes of fire as they ran.

" Robin to team! Aqualad!"

Robin tried to reach the team through his communicator.

' Megan! Can you hear me?'

Artemis tried to reach out to Megan through their psychic link.

" Not going to work. Whoever attacked us got to the others first."

Kai explained as they ran through the cave.

" Robin to Batcave override Rg4. Cave calling Justice league HOJ slash watch tower B01 Priority Red!"

Robin yelled as he tried to reach other heroes for support.

The three continued running as a tornado of fire chased them. Eventually the group made its way into the showers and began turning them on in an attempt to stop the fire.

" Communications are blocked! At least the waters helping."

Robin stated. However, the knobs in the shower room began to burst and the room started filling with water.

" Or not!"

Kai said as the room filled with water. Kai grabbed his two teammates and led them to a nearby wall. He let go of them both and destroyed the wall in front of him with a punch. The three teens fell into the room beyond. Robin and Artemis began gasping for air.

" We need to get lost."

Robin said as the group ran through the hallways.

" The Air vent!"

Artemis yelled in response.

" Alright go!"

Kai yelled.

Artemis ran over to the stove and began pulling the air duct off of the vent.

" What are you two doing?"

She asked as she turned around to see Kai and Robin fiddling with the security systems.

" Downloading cave blueprints could come in. Go go!"

Robin said as he and kai ran towards Artemis. Th three leapt into the air vent with kai pulling the grate back up with them.

" Go left!"

Robin said as he pulled up the blueprints for the cave. Suddenly a blaze of fire erupted behind them.

" Whoa too close. Take the next right."

Robin said as the group barely dodged the fire.

" There should be a vent cover right in front of you."

Robin spoke.

Artemis crawled for a bit before coming upon the cover that robin spoke of. She pulled it off and the three hoped down into the vents below dropping down into the engine room.

" This way."

Robin said as he led the way.

Suddenly one of the attackers dropped down into the room below. The group crouched down hoping to avoid the creature. After a few seconds of looking around the fire creature raised its hands up and a pillar of fire erupted from his hands. The three jumped down to avoid being burned by the metal floor they were on.

" I know that other access vent is somewhere."

Robin said as he looked at the schematics of the cave.

" Hurry up and find it."

Kai yelled as he fired back at the creature attacking them.

" Found it!"

Artemis yelled as she pulled the vent up.

" Let's go!"

Robin yelled to kai who was still fighting back and forth with the creature.

" Coming!"

Kai yelled as he slammed a blast of fire onto the ground making a smoke screen for him and the others to slip away.

" Agh! Hold on."

Robin said as he jumped into the vents.

" Locking out cave's motion and heat sensors to prevent the enemy from tacking us."

Robin said as he jacked into the cave's defense system.

" And I ask again who is the enemy?"

Artemis asked.

" Don't know."

Kai answered.

" Let's find out. Downloading cave security footage. There!"

Robin said as an image of the team came up.

" Dork wrench! Thank you green cheeks."

Wally said as Megan handed him a wrench for the bike.

" I have been meaning to ask. Any problem juggling schoolwork with your responsibilities here?"

Kaldur asked Megan and Connor.

"Nope!"

Connor responded.

" Juggling is just one of my many talents. Socket wrench."

Wally stated.

" Cheerleading practice has been a challenge. Oh, but my first loyalty is always to the team. This team not the bumblebees."

Megan replied to Kaldur.

" Artemis starts school today. Do you think she will trouble maintaining her loyalties?"

Kaldur asked suspiciously.

" Ah she'll manage alright. I mean how much more hostile and annoying could she. Ugh!"

Wally and the others yelled as an explosion sent them flying.

" What happened?"

Artemis asked.

" Explosion took out the camera. I'll find another angle."

Robin said as he searched through the images of the camera's trying to figure out what happened. Each image showed another member of the team being captured and the cameras being destroyed in the process.

" Damn. That's all we got."

Kai exclaimed angrily.

" That's it all four are dead."

Robin said his words making Artemis jump in shock.

" The cameras! I meant the cameras. I'm sure the others are ok. Just give me a sec to find the fastest route to the hangar."

Robin explained trying to calm the girl down.

Kai took note of the woman's fears and placed his hands on her shoulders.

" Artemis do not be afraid as long as I am here. I will not allow anything to happen to you."

Kai said as he stared into the woman's eyes.

" Robin did you find what you need?"

Kai asked as he moved away from Artemis.

" Yeah, let's go."

Robin said as he took the lead again leading the group into the library.

" There's a secret passage behind one of these bookcases."

Robin said as he and the others jumped down out of the vents into the library below.

" Seriously Cliche much."

Artemis stated.

" You should see the bat cave."

Robin joked as he ran to the bookshelves.

As they were searching the three heard a door behind them opening up. They quickly moved behind the bookshelves for cover. The group could hear the sound of metallic footsteps walking into the room and a familiar voice called out.

" Artemis! Robin! Sentry!"

The voice of red tornado called out.

" It's red tornado!"

Artemis replied happily. The girl ran out of her cover and to her shock discovered that the voice didn't belong to red tornado but another android entirely.

The Android put its hand out to grab Artemis but was blasted away.

" Ekirts mih htiw Erif!"

Kai yelled as he blasted the robot away.

" Robin! Artemis run."

Kai yelled as the android got to his feet. Kai watched as the others ran away and attacked the robot.

' Damn it gotta tear this thing apart fast.'

Kai thought as he battled with the robot.

" Argh!"

Kai yelled the robot blasted him in the face with a jet of water. Suddenly another robot appeared and blasted kai with fire. Robin and artemis returned and attacked the two robots, hitting them with explosives and giving kai enough time to retreat.

" This way."

Robin said as he led Kai to the hidden passageway. He pulled on one of the books and the door opened up giving the three a way to escape.

" Why didn't you wreck them?!"

Artemis asked.

" We don't know where the team is. I can't destroy them recklessly either. What happens if they explode when defeated?"

Kai asked.

" Artemis, don't worry we'll get through this together."

Kai said hoping to sway the woman's fears, something that was evident to robin.

" Yeah, don't worry we got this."

Robin said as the group walked down the hallway.

" Attention robin. Attention Artemis. Attention sentry you have exactly ten minutes or the lives of your teammates will be extinguished."

The android spoke.

" Okay, we know the others are still alive. Let's go."

Kai yelled as he ran down the passageway.

" We can access the hangar from here."

Robin said as he ran.

" Huh!"

Artemis gasped as she turned around to see a large wave of water rushing towards them.

" Grab on!"

Kai yelled as he pulled the two close to him and took off running. The water managed to catch up to the group and engulfed them. Robin pulled out rebreathers for the group to use. However, the android had managed to catch Artemis by her foot sending her into a panic as she thrashed around to escape. Kai turned around and punched the android away. Robin took his time and planted Explosives to throw the android off of their trail.

" Let's go."

Kai mumbled out as he grabbed robin and Artemis and flew through the water.

The three emerged in the hangar of the cave where the others were being held.

" Watch out!"

Wally yelled as the fire bending android attacked them from above.

Kai grabbed Artemis and robin throwing them out of the way as a pillar of fire slammed him back down into the water.

" Forget about us help Megan!"

Connor yelled to robin and artemis.

" Aqualad is she?"

Artemis asked as she saw Megan was locked in a cage of fire.

" She is unconscious I fear she...We cannot survive much longer."

Aqualad explained.

Artemis and robin had begun to make their way to help Kaldur and Megan while Kai fought with the android.

" What is it with us and fighting Robots all the time?"

Kai asked as he blasted the fire bending android away.

' Think kai they're androids how can you beat these guys. Duh you idiot.'

Kai said as he slapped himself mentally.

" Everyone keep your heads down!"

Kai yelled as he floated to the center of the room. He began charging lightning in his hands condensing it into a small orb.

" What's he doing?"

Connor asked.

" He's charging lightning. But why?"

Kaldur asked.

" They're androids. Which means they're susceptible to electricity. He's making an emp!"

Wally yelled.

The androids tried to attack Kai to stop him, but it was too late. Kai clapped his hands together and then brought them out. The orb of lightning he had been charging enveloped the two androids and effectively shut them down.

" Thank god that worked."

Kai said as he sat in the air.

" Good job my friend."

Kaldur stated as the cage of fire around him and Megan began to disappear.

" Yeah, let's get you guys out of those."

Kai said as he flew over to Connor and Wally. He began tearing through the metal casings trapping the two boys.

" Kaldur, how's megan?"

Connor asked

" She breaths. I believe she will recover."

Kaldur said as he struggled to his feet.

The group composed themselves and after a few minutes Megan regained consciousness.

" Megan."

Connor called out as the girl awoke.

" I'm fine Connor."

Megan replied as she held Superboy's hand.

" That was smart coming up with the Emp."

Wally said as he and strecthed his legs.

" Yeah, well the Emp shut down all the machines."

Kai explained.

" All machines present at the time."

Red tornado explained as he flew into the cave.

" What has occurred?" Red tornado asked as he looked around at the destroyed cave.

" A little visit from your family."

Robin explained.

" Your extremely nasty family."

Artemis spoke up angrily.

" i was not aware I had relations."

Red tornado replied.

" Where have you been?"

Connor asked.

" Monitor duty on the watch tower. When it became clear cave communications were down I attempted to investigate. But your zeta tubes were also non-functional. I transported to providence and proceeded here.

Red tornado replied as he made his war over to the two androids.

" Hey boy."

Connor said as sphere dislodged itself from the wall and rolled over to him.

Suddenly the machines had begun to work again.

" The pulse has worn off!"

Robin and Wally yelled as they watched Artemis playing with a laser cutter.

Red tornado leaned down to inspect his so-called family members when he did a burst of electricity transferred into him, his eyes began to glow red like the others. He turned around and began to suck the oxygen out of the air. The team began gasping at their throats as the air left their bodies. They each began to fall unconscious.

" Can't breathe."

Artemis said before passing out.

" Damn you traitor!"

Kai yelled as he attacked red tornado. The two downed androids returned to their feet and stopped kai's advance.

" Can't breathe!"

Kai said as he began grasping his throat.

' Losing consciousness. Is this how I die? Betrayed by someone I looked up to? Fading to black. I can't feel my legs anymore. Donna my love I'm sorry.'

Kai's thoughts rushed through his head as he blacked out from lack of oxygen.

Once kai had passed out the androids took their leave from the cave, leaving behind the unconscious teens.

Hours later.

" Kai! Kai, can you hear me?"

Diana asked as she woke the young man.

Kai jerked up onto his feet and began looking around for the adnroids.

" Calm down! It's okay. They're gone."

Diana explained to the boy.

" We're alive."

Kai said in surprise as he looked at his teammates being tended to by the league.

" What happened here?"

Superman asked.

" What happened?!"

Artemis yelled.

" We were betrayed by red tornado. He and two other androids attacked the cave. That's what happened!"

Kai yelled.

" Calm down."

Superman said

" Calm down? Calm down?! We were almost killed by someone who we were supposed to trust. I'll calm down when red tornado and those androids are captured. Until then don't tell me to calm down."

Kai argued.

Kai went to take a step forward and began to wobble.

" Kai!"

Donna yelled as she ran up to the boy. Pulling him into a tight hug.

" Donna what are you doing here?"

Kai asked bewildered.

" We heard the cave was attacked and came to see if you were okay."

Diana responded.

" Well, I'm glad to see you donna."

Kai responded as he returned the woman's hug.

" We have much to go over. For now, you've all been through enough for one night. Get some rest."

Batman explained.

" Diana?"

Donna called

" You can stay at our home tonight kai."

Diana stated.

" Thank you. I think sometime away from the cave is what I need right now."

Kai said as he took donna's hand in his as they left the cave.
