Chapter 2
I found myself in one of their hideouts. It was at that moment that I knew the heavens were prepared to receive me. I turned towards them trying to identify who they were. They pushed me into a room. I didn't even have the strength for useless screaming. At least I won't have to work with that psychopath Ceo anymore. The masked man came into my cell…the one who had saved me the day before. I smiled thanking him thinking it was another day for him to be my knight and shining amour. He sneaked me out, before disappearing again. What a week honestly. I think I've run out of all my sarcasm at this point.
I lived with my grandmother, a veteran of the government. How she survived and my parents didn't, still remain a mystery to me. She did most of the housework while I tried living a normal life in search of a better life for her. Her days were numbered and i wasn't even sure if I had time to delay any of her wishes today.
" Are you okay," she asked placing a plate in front of me.
She was very hardcore for her age and still had a few of her muscles which scared me…her health however was eating her up from the inside. She's been diagnosed with post-trauma and now gastric cancer. Life wasn't a walk in the park for her, she witnessed millions of deaths for decades, Her parents, siblings, children…I was the only survivor. Mrs books over war which was me, also watched my family die for the country while I behaved like a coward. It was sad sometimes looking towards how empty the house was as I listened to the footsteps of my childhood memories echo... it's time for me to let my grandmother rest in peace as well.
"im fine, did you get your result."
"you know me, after the diagnoses, I didn't go in…I want to die from the disease not stressing about it."
"you can get treated, please…just go in."
"Ara, you're grown up now….life is getting better as the mafias are slowly moving away… it's time that you settle down so I can join our family in the afterlife."
" I can take care of myself…" I said stuffing my face with food
"take it as my last wish, I'll assign you one of my old comrade's grandsons. Then you'll decide."
I agreed unwillingly. I always knew that I would get arranged, so at this point…there was no rebelling, especially since this was the last wish I had to fulfil for her to begin her to rest easily. My heart ached at the idea, but you can't be with someone forever. I always knew that I had to grieve one more time, I just hoped that it didn't have to be this soon, I didn't blame her for just accepting her faith, she's always been pessimistic towards situations. Her hair laid all love the bathroom and sometimes her bowl droopings contained blood. The basic warning signs. Married…to a stranger, I guess. I can learn to love him. Positivity.
My days were numbered to find the perfect man and each of the suitors that came over were incompetent or just plain ugly or rude. I felt like giving up…I did not know how much time I had left with her, I wanted to see her smile just one more time. A lot of rumours started spreading about me being one of my bosses vampire victims and how I got to the position am in because of my relationship with him. He didn't make it easy as well, with all his gifts and cheesy romantic cards or whatever, he even sent it over to my house.
I questioned his actions, I wasn't a model or superstar so why the heck was he interested in a withering hag like me.
Finally, after gathering enough anger and courage I barged into his office throwing the flowers he had sent on that day onto his face.
"you want a marriage, fine then!" I yelled grabbing his ring…, " we do it my way though."
Confused by my own words I met up with him later that day after everyone went home
"do you live here or something?" I asked rolling my eyes
"We can if you want to dear fiance."
"ah-ha…not yet. Sign," I said passing a contract to him, " I'm only marrying you to fulfil my grandmother last wish."
"fine by me," he said signing it without any hesitation.
" I have my conditions as well…make it public."
"what!" I yelled
"you heard me…announce our marriage, I told you I don't have time to waste."
"your request makes no sense, no one knows you?"
" doesn't matter, I just need to clear one rumour after all," he said pinning me to a wall, " I'm not a womanizing vampire," he whispered into my ear.
I pushed him off me, " read the contract, don't ever come that close to me again," I said leaving
" my other clause is that you have to move in with me," he said tossing a key towards me
" I'm not afraid of you, I'll do it," I said as I left his office, after catching the keys.
Who would have known that all of his popularity would fall towards me after the press conference was held? My question was…is the face he showed me his real face or one of his tricks…I mean why would he sacrifice his identity for me, a nobody.
My grandmother confused by the situation was happy that I revealed my so-called secret boyfriend after year's and blamed all the fail proposals on me being in love with the ghost Ceo.
I still couldn't put the situation onto my finger, I hated this world so much along with that thing of a man that made me do something as stupid as this.
My phone buzzed all night for weeks, imagine how terrible things are going to be after i move in with this devil.
