Chapter 23
After watching the strongest amongst us break I realised that there’s a lot to each of them that I’m not aware of. I haven’t been keeping track of how they actually felt about something. Daneen was always yelling, laughing out loudly…and making harsh threats but is actually the one who housed the most emotions. And even if Zhareefah looked put together she just wanted to be loved and appreciated by the people around her to help fill in the gaps she covers well. I guess no one is perfect. On my way out of the clinic I was stooped outside by a group of ladies I smiled showing them the entrance of the hospital a tempting to leave. stupid me should have just minded my own business, I was pulled aside that isn’t what they were looking for. I was dragged to the corner of the building away from the traffic.
“ who gave you the right to steal my man!” the one lady said lifting my chin
“ should we show her what we do to people who steal our property…” her friend says reaching into her bag...
“show me as well!” Iyad says walking out of the shadow nearby
I have never been so happy in my entire life to see him.
“Iyad…what are you doing here?” she asks quickly letting go of me.
“for the last time Aaminah, we will never be an item and harassing every girl I go out with won’t change that.”
“But I’m way prettier than her and all the things you’ve been with! What makes me so not your type?” she says grabbing onto me again, “did she seduce you?”
“what if I say yes?”
I panic looking towards him, “ what!” I yell before quickly running towards my silent self again.
She pushed me to the ground before walking up to him.” your loss.”
I watched him furiously, standing on my own as I made way to my car. Those girlfriends of he’s could’ve killed me. How much more torture do I have to go through with him. He silently follows me. “ the engagement ceremony is this weekend, ” I say leaving
I was still grateful for him showing up.

She packed away boxes of whatever reminded her of cricket, from her awards to all her signed merchandise. Bassam knew well that with her popularity it won’t be her first trip around the world and why she wanted to do it, he still couldn’t understand…but had to accept it. The nikkah was set for next month. Then they leave for their destination wedding, which is something very out of place when it comes to culture. There wasn’t much to do, only the tickets had to be organised. The weddings going to be in Makkah. One of the holiest places on this earth, the most purist as well. Daneen was as lost as ever, Waliyah was right she doesn't know who she is without cricket.
