Chapter 1

"Crap! I'm late!"

Anna gets up and runs to the bathroom and brushes her teeth. Then, she goes back in her room and starts throwing stuff around looking for something to wear. She puts on a spaghetti strap tank top with a red and white plaid flannel. She, then, puts on skinny jeans and her favorite pair of black boots. She only puts on eyeliner and mascara because she doesn't have time. She quickly brushes her hair. She takes a minute to admire her hair. It was long. It went all the way down to her waist. She rushes downstairs.

"Morning, Mom!", she would say cheerfully rushing to pour her cereal. She eats quickly.

"Well someones in a hurry." Her mom would say, smiling. She hands Anna her lunch.

"Have a good day at school! Tell me all about it when you get home, alright?"

Anna giggles.

"Ok Mom! Love you!", she said as she gathered her stuff. When she got to the door she kissed her mom on the cheek and smiled. Then, she walked out the door. She saw moving trucks in front of the house next door. She wonders who it will be this time. Hopefully it's not another elderly couple. The last neighbors were elderly. That was a nightmare. They weren't even one of those nice old people. They were bitter. She shuddered at the thought. Just about she was about to continue her walk to school, a boy came out of the house. He looked like the personification of danger. He was attractive and that added to the danger. He was tall and lean. His hair was pitch black. But his eyes were the color of sapphire. She noticed he was walking towards her. Oh God! What now? She wanted to die right there on the spot. She turned around to keep walking, but a strong hand on her shoulder. She froze.

"I heard that there's a nice bar in town" His grip tightens and he leans down to whisper in her ear.

"Maybe we can go sometime."

That sent a shiver down her spine. She didn't know why, but that sounded like a threat.

He let go of her shoulder and walked off. She shook her head and continued down the street towards school. When she got to the building, she took a deep breath. This was her freshman year of high school. There were butterflies in her stomach. She was so nervous. She gathered her courage and walked into the school building. The hallways were so crowded. She somehow reached her locker. She opened it and put all the stuff she doesn't need inside. She closed her locker and he was right there. She jumped and put a hand to her heart, trying to catch her breath.

"Can you, like, not do that, please?"

He smirked. "What's the fun in that?"

His voice was deep and smoothe. She felt drawn to him. More the reason to stay away from him.

"Can I help you with something?", she asked reluctantly.

"Give me your hand."

She held out her hand not thinking. He took it and pulled out a sharpie. He started writing something. It was smoothe, never staggered. His gaze was intense. It felt like time stopped. Her heart started racing. What was with this guy? She's never felt like this towards a guy before. He finally stopped writing and let go of her arm. She looked at her arm. It was a phone number. Wow, man. Real smoothe. He looked into her eyes. They were a bright, but deep blue.

He smirked.

"Call me", he said as he walked away. All she could do was look after him in disbelief. She walks to her first class. When she walked in the classroom, she took a seat in the very back of the classroom. Right when the bell rang, the teacher walked in. She was quite young, looks like she just started teaching.

"Good morning, class. I am your math teacher Ms. Flores. Today is the first day of school, so we're gonna do some team building exercises." She clapped her hands together. After a long period of socializing, she went throughout the day with the same thing. It seemed like all the teachers had the same lesson for the day. Finally. Last period. She started with the hourly routine of sitting in the back of the class and trying to pay attention to what the teacher is talking about. She was happy because this last class was her favorite subject: science. She put her head on the table and closed her eyes. Today has been a long day. She couldn't wait until she could go home. She heard movement beside her. Someone sat down beside her. She heard the teacher come in, so she put her head up. She could feel her blood rush to her face when she realized who was sitting beside her. It was that guy from this morning. She quickly pulled her sleeve down to cover the number on her wrist. He chuckled and shook his head. She looked down in embarrassment and blushed harder. He leaned down and whispered to her.

"Someone's flustered." His voice was so appealing. It made her feel like if she got too close to him, he would completely dominate her. He was dangerous…. But it drew her in. She couldn't concentrate throughout the class. His presence was overbearing. He made the one hour class feel like an eternity. Finally, the end of class was drawing near.

"Alright, class. We were supposed to be doing team building exercises, but obviously we didn't do that, so I'm going to give you an assignment. Write down ten questions and ask them to your partner. I know some of you are antisocial and don't really want to do this, so I'm giving you until Friday."

She could hear the whole class groan. Really? Homework on the first day of school? This is going to be a long year.

Class was finally dismissed. She quickly got up to walk out, but right as she was about to walk out the door, he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back in the classroom. He looked at her with those hauntingly beautiful eyes.

"I never caught your name." He didn't let go.

"I uh.. It's Anna. My name is Anna" The longer he held on to her, the faster her heart raced. He let go of his arm.

"I'm Lucius."

She couldn't seem to find her words. She only nodded. He tapped her wrist.

"Call me. Tonight."

That did not sound like she had a choice. At least she could use the time to finish her assignment before Friday. She nodded. She walked out of the classroom and exited the building. She was excited to go home. Maybe her mom had something planned to celebrate her survival of the first day of school. She was so lost in thought, she didn't realize she was shot with a tranquilizer until she fell to her knees due to her not being able to stand. She heard footsteps, then voices.

"Looks like we got a good one."

Their voices were rough. She started scooting backwards. They laughed.

"Oh look. She's trying to get away. What a silly little girl. Doesn't she know she's gonna pass out any minute?"

She didn't care. She had to get as far as possible from them. She heard a sigh. She was losing consciousness. She felt strong arms picking her up. They were carrying her somewhere. That's when everything went black.
