Only For You!

As Tuesday got closer, the more anxious Ashley became. Now that Samuel had told her he was going to come back to study at the library from Tuesday, does that mean he was expecting her to meet him then? Of course not! "Should I have not asked him when he was going to come back? Did that make me sound desperate?" She couldn't help but overthink. "What is happening to me? I hate this. I hate having to think so much over taking the smallest decisions!"

She turned on her laptop and put on the movie "500 Days of Summer" to take a break from her mind which was swamped with a million thoughts that caused a throbbing pain at the back of her head.

She loved this movie from the acting to the dialogues to the lesson. Everything had to happen at its own time no matter how much you want to fast forward in life. Life moves at its speed, different for everybody and even though at times it feels like we have reached a dead-end, it is only so that we can make a reverse and take a new path which was better for us in a long term but then again to get what you want you have got to take the risks and work for what you want like the way the Tom did at the end when he asked out Autumn.

April 4th, 2017. The awaited Tuesday was finally here. It was a warm, sunny day. The morning sunlight shone through the curtains as Ashley dressed up looking forward to what lied ahead during the day. She slipped into a loose- fitted black coloured top and then cinched it in around her waist with a shimmering belt with grey tights underneath and swept her dark brown hair back behind her head in a bun, with hoop earrings dangling in her ears and put on her black coloured locket with shining silver stones in the middle around her neck, patting her cheeks very lightly with a blush on to give a natural rosy tone as she pulled out her basic flip flops on and was all set and ready for another day at college.

As she got on the bus she saved a seat next to hers by placing her bag on it for Zoey who had told her she would come over to her college on Tuesday and looked out her bus window, enjoying the view as she watched the trees with their leaves in dark green colour, sway in a warming breeze, breathing the hot aromatic air.

The bus reached the stop near Zoey's house and as Zoey got on Ashley waved her over to where she was seated pulling her bag placed on Zoey's seat to her lap.

"Hey!!" Zoey said enthusiastically as she took her seat beside Ashley.

"Somebody's in a very pleasant mood today!" teased Ashley

"I sure am! I have been dying to tell you about what happened that night!"

"Oh yeah! The surprise you said you will tell me when we meet! What did Isaac do?"

"ISAAC!? What does Isaac have to do with anything? I said I have a surprise for YOU which meant it's related to you!"

"OHH! That's what you meant! I'm sorry! But what is it?!"

Zoey pulled out her phone from the side pocket of her jeans, turned it on and after a minute handed it over to Ashley.

Ashley looked at her confused. "Why is she giving me her phone?"

"What do you want me to do?" asked Ashley confused

"Take it. Have a look at it yourself!" said Zoey with a mischievous smile across her lips.

"Umm okay..." said Ashley as she took Zoey's phone from her hands and reluctantly took a look. Her eyes widened and her face turned pale as she saw his name on the top of the screen.

It was a WhatsApp chat conversation with SAMUEL!!

Sam: Hey Zoey!

Zoey: Hi Sam.

Sam: How are you?

Zoey: Umm I'm good. Is everything okay?

Sam: Yeah, everything's fine. I just wanted to check if you were coming to our batch picnic next week?

Zoey: Oh really? Yeah, I might. Not sure about it though! I have been feeling a little under the weather for the past few days with the constant headaches so really depends.

Sam: Oh you should take some paracetamol and rest or maybe go get yourself checked. It is not good to leave it like this.

Zoey: Yeah, I was just about to head to bed anyway, thanks for checking up on me Sam! It means a lot after all the ups and downs our friendship has been through. At times I feel like you don't like me very much now...

Sam: No problem

Zoey: You know I was going through my drawer the other day and I found something from our high school days. God, I miss those days. I miss our trio.

Sam: Hmm, that's nice Zoey.

Zoey: I'm gonna show you what it was the next time it is just the two of us around. You will feel nostalgic just as I did today.

Sam: Sure, sounds like a plan. Actually, there's one more thing that I have been meaning to talk to you about but didn't have the words for.

Zoey: Of course. You can talk to me, Sam. Even if we are not close as before, you know I'm here for you.

Sam: Yeah it is nothing like that. I just wanted to say your friend Ashley she seems very nice. She is a cool girl.

Zoey: Nice or nice-nice?

Sam: Yeah she is just so sweet like today she waved at me when she entered our campus and this isn't the first time it happened like whenever she is around she always makes me feel so important like she would just casually wave or say hi. It is just so nice of her.

Zoey: Sounds like you wanna be friends with my friend?

Sam: Ha-ha! After what happened with Angela, I'm actually terrified of being friends with your friend but yeah I just wanted to say this out loud because it will just be plain wrong for me to not admit how nice I really think Ashley is.

Zoey: Well she is my friend after all and my friends always are pretty amazing.

Sam: Ha-ha! Well, that's all I wanted to say. I hope you get well soon, I will catch you in school.

Zoey: Sure, take care, Sam!

"Did you read the whole thing?" asked Zoey as she pulled her phone from Ashley's hands who was still in a state of shock, not sure if she was flattered or a little hurt.

"Yeah! It is really sweet of him but I don't understand he thinks I am all nice but he doesn't wanna be friends with me? Then why message you and tell you that I'm nice?"

"Oh Ashley, I know the guy, okay? That was just a joke he was pulling based on his last relationship with Angela."

"You asked him if he likes me or not, right? You asked him if he thinks I'm nice in a casual way or in a different way? He could have told you if he likes me differently..."

"Ash! The guy doesn't like me. Remember I told you the guy hates me, I would be the last person on earth he is going to share this stuff with okay? but he still messaged me despite everything because of YOU!

"You really think that?"

"He obviously messaged me only so that he can talk about you! I'm not gonna lie, I was thrilled when I saw his name pop up on my screen. It was unbelievable cause I thought he missed me and our friendship or something like that but when he started asking about you, I realized it was actually YOU the reason he messaged. I'm telling you, I know Sam. We have been best friends. He hasn't spoken to me on text in months and now suddenly he is here asking me if I'm planning to go to the batch picnic? It was only for you!"
