Hey You!

With her heart thumping against her ribs, like a wild animal trying to escape her chest, Ashley stood there, glancing over at the first boy who made her heart race in a single look.

Her mind was in turmoil. "What am I supposed to do??" she thought to herself. "Should I go talk to him? Introduce myself before he walks in the library and I lose him forever? This is an enormous campus, I may for real lose him forever besides this isn't even his campus!! He is in Zoey's med school so he might only be visiting here for a day or so." A million thoughts ran through her mind but even the thought of her walking up to him and introducing herself when he might not even know who she was made her stomach flip. With her heart still racing like a train, she thought to herself, "Maybe I should just ask Zoey, she will know what to do! Plus she is his friend, she will know if I am even his type."

*Text messages from Ashley to Zoey*

Ashley: Zoey!! You there??

Ashley: SAMUEL IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!! HE IS SO MUCH CUTER IN PERSON THAN HE WAS IN PICTURES!!! SHOULD I GO SAY HI???

Ashley: REPLY ASAP!!!

But there was no response from Zoey's side. Samuel was seconds away from entering the library building, seconds away from walking out of Ashley's life possibly, forever. She might never get another chance with him, she thought. What if she never finds another guy who can intoxicate her heart like this again? And, after all the advice she had given to Zoey over the years of it being completely fine for girls to take the first move, she knew deep within her heart it was time for her to follow up on her own advice.

You see, even though Ashley believed that fate and destiny were constantly working on bringing two past lovers together. She also believed that when love finally arrives at your door through the universe's perfect timing, it is on you whether you do something about it or not. The universe only plants the seed but it upon you as an individual to decide whether you would water the plant to let it grow or not.

So as soon as Samuel's hand reached out to grab the doorknob, Ashley took a leap of faith and ran towards him. With her heart pounding like the thundering hooves of a thousand wild stallions, so loud it felt like it would tear open her chest, she called out to the boy standing just a few feet away from her.

"Hey! Hey, listen! Hey You! The guy in the white shirt!" shouted Ashley, trying to get the boy's attention.

The boy in the plain white t-shirt turned around and pointed at himself, confused as to if she was talking to him and walked towards her, with his light brown eyes dazzling under the sun, raising his eyebrow as he asked in his melodious voice, "Yeah?"

"You're Samuel, right? Zoey's friend?" she asked.

As he gave a firm nod in response, Ashley further added, "I'm Ashley! I am Zoey's friend too! She umm, she told me about you. I saw you and I just wanted to say hi so well umm hi!" she said enthusiastically as she tried controlling her smiling and blushing and nervousness all at the same time.

"Ohh Hi Ashley! What's your full name?" he asked in a polite manner.

"It is Rose...Ashley Rose," she answered softly, her heart beating so fast she was afraid he could hear it.

"You study here?" he asked calmly.

"Yeahhh, I just started my dental school here! Do you come here often? asked Ashley listening intently.

"That's really cool, yeah I have recently started coming here just to study in the library. It is far better than ours," he answered sweetly.

"How do you know Zoey?" he questioned politely.

"We were in school together before she got transferred to yours, plus our elder brothers were friends too. We come a long way." she smiled, her still beating so loud she could feel the blood flowing in her ears.

Before she could say another word, Ashley heard her friends call out to her from behind, she looked over her shoulder to see them waiting for her at a distance.

"We were actually celebrating my friend's birthday so I am gonna go join them back, I am sorry, I saw you passing and I recognized you which was such a big deal for me and I just wanted to say hi," she said blushing.

"Oh, sure! It was lovely meeting you. I really hope I will get to see you around. Okay?" he said smiling softly.

"Yeah, me too!" she answered happily, her rosy cheeks burning from how hard she was blushing."

"And hey, by the way, my friends call me, Sam," he said laughing.

"Ha-ha! Sorry, sure! Bye Sam!!" she answered back, biting her lower lip.

She turned around blushing. Happy. Fulfilled. "What is this warm feeling in my heart spreading throughout my chest? This feeling of undeniable ecstasy. I just met him. Barely spoke for five minutes. Know absolutely nothing major about him. But here I am thinking about him, feeling all sorts of new feelings I didn't know existed until today. What was this force of attraction? Like a magnetic pull that made me leave Samantha's birthday celebration just so that I can have five minutes with him?" She wondered. "I want to get to know you, I really do." She thought to herself. She looked around again to where the boy was standing to catch a glimpse of his beautiful face one last time but he was already gone.
