I glanced at Kanwal’s house as I walked past near its gate. She once told me that after her graduation, she would wait here for me every day to greet me. Because we have become habitual of meeting almost every day since we settled down in Shareefabad. Yet from the past few weeks, I haven’t seen her face nor been able to hear her voice. Both of us knew that things will change after we get married but never imagined it will sadden me one day.
/"Assalam o Alaikum Ami./" I said in a dull voice as I entered our house and placed my shoes aside.
/"Wallaikum Salam,/" said Ami peeking out from the kitchen, /"Why such a gloomy face? Something happens?/"
