A loud and frustrated scream permeated the quiet scenery of the Mansion.
" Second Miss, what's wrong?" A concerned maid came running over to make sure Jin Lian was fine.
Pushing past the well-meaning maid, Jin Lian ran to her room.
That stupid school!
She slammed the door in the face of the maid, throwing her school bag on the neat bed. Kicking the bed frame with all her might, Jin Lian unleashed all her anger towards the bed. It was only her first day of school and she got scolded!
Jin Lian whipped out her phone, wanting to vent to someone.
" Mum! I hate school so much. The people there are all so annoying and upright... " Jin Lian immediately started.
Jin Li held out her nicely manicured fingers, blowing on them gently as she held the phone to her ear. Curling her fingers in and out, she admired her new nail design.
" Mum? Are you even listening?" Jin Lian's voice rang over the phone, her voice showed her obvious annoyance towards her mother.
Absentmindedly, Jin Li let out a " Mmh".
The phone went quiet. After a while, the call ended. Jin Li raised her eyebrows, that girl was so weird. Calling her then ending the call.
Over on the other side of town, Jin Lian slumped on her bed. So what if she lived a good life, she had never experienced her mother's love.
When she was born, without even being able to understand words, she knew she was unwanted. A baby born of recklessness between Jin Li and Qian Lu. The moment she was born, she was handed to nannies. Even as she grew up, her mother rarely spoke to her. Jin Li was always too busy painting her nails, catching up with the latest gossip and whatnot.
Jin Lian laughed softly, mocking herself. Ever since they were kicked out of their old home, she had thought that her mother would finally sober up and care for her. In fact, she was thrilled when Ji Li went looking for Qian Lu, thinking that her mother wanted to provide a father-figure in her life. Yet, how wrong was she. Her mother only wanted her life if luxury to return, she didn't care about ruining other people's lives nor did she care about her only daughter.
It was always about her new nails and gossip. Never a " how did your day go?" or concern was shown to her.
As tears threatened to flow, Jin Lian fanned her face, hoping the tears would evaporate. As she stepped out of the room, unable to take the suffocating emptiness of it, she made her way to the kitchen.
" Xiao Yih, you need to put a little pepper and salt, or else the chicken is going. to be very bland, " a melodious voice sounded from the kitchen, followed by crisp refreshing laughter from a girl.
Jin Lian paused, taking a moment to listen to the voices in the kitchen. Sighing to herself, Jin Lian turned back, deciding not to disturb the mother and daughter duo from cooking.
As she reached the room door, she suddenly started giggling. Laughing at how f***ed up her life was. So what if she did what her mother said, if she was obedient? Was her whole life going to change for the better?
No. That was the cold hard truth. Her mother would never shower her with love, nor would her father who only took her in to boost his reputation. Resting on her fluffy bed, a smile bloomed on Jin Lian's face.
Ha.
Look here she was living in a nice house and yet she was complaining about her parents not loving her. She couldn't help but notice how pathetic she sounded as if she was trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
Flopping down onto the soft bed, Jin Lian silently cried herself to sleep.
