CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THREE

I can't believe the asshole spoke out like that, which obviously raised questions in mom and Jamie's mind.

Thankfully dad changed the topic, but Doctor Morris's suggestion about doing a C-Section on Jamie is another detrimental topic on my list.

Dad changing the topic gives me time to deal with Clyde Daniels and his f**king mother, on my own, but the fact that he's searching for Jamie, confuses me.

Why?

The sound of the door opening on the passenger side of dad's Benz, where I sat brooding, disturbing my raging thoughts.

"What now?" I yelled at Jerome in the confines of the vehicle.

Normally he would shy back when I am angry or yelling, but today he's standing his ground.

"You should tell her because she's going to force me and I will break and end up telling her everything I know, because your wife can be a mean bully, sometimes." Jerome says grinning at me.

Sighing in frustration, "then you're going to be riding with me," I said, releasing the handbrakes.

Eyes widening in surprise, "what? Wait, what?" Jerome asks, confused as the vehicle starts rolling out the yard.

"If you're not here, she can't find you to interrogate you, right?" I informed him, driving down the driveway.

Shaking his head, Jerome tries opening the passenger door, while the lights instructing us to put on our, seatbelts starts beeping.

"Buckle up," I chuckle, a laughter that didn't reach my eyes.

"Man I've got classes," Jerome starts complaining, but I'm hungry so I decided to just take a drive out to the cafe.

"If I'm not in class, my professor will call Jamie," Jerome continues to annoy me with his complaints, but I have no plan in motion, so I'm just going to wing it.

With one brief glance at Jerome, whose sitting all tensed up in his seat, with the annoying seat belt alert still on.

"Just put your f**king seatbelt on" I yelled. "This f**kung noise is annoying the f**k out of me." I shook my head in annoyance, focusing on the road again.

Glaring at me, Jerome simply folded his arms and leaned back in his seat with a grin on his face.

"Deal with it," I chuckles, closing his eyes.

"Asshole" I mutter under my breath.

The village traffic is flowing as usual and I hope the cafe is not busy, because for some reason, I am actually hungry and eating leftover Mexian food for breakfast, doesn't sound appealing.

"Fuck!" I didn't pick up my wallet. "Do you have cash on you?" I turned to ask Jerome as he reclines in his seat with a smirk.

Leaning over, while keeping my eyes on the road, I started digging into the glove compartment, because mom always leave money in there for emergencies.

Slapping my hand away, "man watch the road," Jerome yells angrily. "What the hell you looking for anyway?" he glared at me for imposing in his space.

"Cash for food," I grimace, passing the cafe debating going back to the cabin and Jamie, with all of her questions, that I have no answers for and without my wallet, I have not f**king license.

I turned angrily at Jerome and yelled, "I don't even have my f**king license," I hollered at him, but for once he wasn't intimidated at my anger and hostile words.

Shrugging, "I only came to talk to you, but no, you had to abduct me and now you're shouting at me as if it's my fault?" Jerome laughs, naming all of my blunders since joining me in the vehicle.

Angry and frustrated, "do you have your f**king wallet and license on you?" I asked through gritted teeth.

Jerome straightens up immediately and looks around the interior of dad's Benz, a mischievous smile dancing on his lips.

"I get to sit behind the wheel?" Jerome asks, "of this?" He smiles in appreciation.

Without uttering another word, I pulled to the curb, quickly exiting the vehicle, waiting for the asshole to exit the passenger side.

"What the f**k" I muttered, watching him climb the seat, into the driver's seat, slapping the steering wheel in excitement, making himself comfortable, adjusting the seat.

"Now this is the life!" Jerome exclaims as I shut the door behind me.

Turning to look at me, his long hair hanging loose on his face.

"Where to brother-in-law?" Jerome asks impatiently.

Staring at the monster I just created, "how much money do you have?" I asked curiously, mentally forgetting to start giving him an allowance.

Pulling out his wallet, he dangles a bankcard in front of me, "I've got Jamie's" he said and I frowned.

"Jamie's?" I asked curiously, wondering how he has it in his posession.

Nodding, he places it back in his wallet and starts fiddling with the cash he has in hand.

"Uh.." he mummers as he starts checking his cash and if I am right, he has about three hundred. We can have breakfast but we need more money for a trip to the barber saloon.

"Not enough," I tell him before he could give me the figure.

Frowning, "well we have the bankcard," Jerome reminds me.

Leaning back in the passenger seat, "let's get breakfast, we'll return to the cabin for my wallet later.

Chuckling, Jerome, secures his wallet, "so you're that kind of guy, huh?" Jerome says, tilting his head, giving me a disappointed smirk.

Curious, I smirked at him, "and what kind of guy is that?" I asked genuinely curious.

"The kind that doesn't feel comfortable taking money from your wife?" Jerome shrugs.

Laughing out loud, I shook my head, since that is something I've never given any thought. I never had to, until now.

Shrugging, "I've never given it any thought," I admitted, "but I'm not adverse to it" I retorted, "now to the cafe and we'll decide on a full stomach where to go from there," I nod ahead to my very eager brother-in-law.
