It's been a week since the events of the Dark Phoenix and things at the school seemed to return to normal, or at least normal enough for a school with flamethrower toilets and little blue elf's called bamfs that randomly teleport. But never the less things seemed to be going good for the first time in a while.
" Hey, man? I just gotta ask, why don't you like it here?" Bart asked as he walked beside a certain pink haired telepath.
" Because this school is a place for fascists and their foolish dreams for cohabitation with humans." The young kid known as Quentin Quire or Kid omega the omega level telepath responded.
Quentin was a well-known Anti-Xavier mutant. He hates the idea that anyone believes that Humans will accept mutants. Quentin was also responsible for the events that caused the death of Sophie Cuckoo during his riot against the original school as well as forcing the politicians of the world to reveal their darkest and most evil secrets on national tv causing them to reinstate the sentinel program.
" And yet despite all of that, they still protect you, man. What's not to like about this place?" Bart asked.
" Dude? Have you seen the damn flamethrowers in the toilets? Or the fact that the school bathrooms are a part of the danger room, meaning anytime we're in there a hulk could attack us." Quentin explained to the boy.
" Doesn't bother me none. I just know to stay focused anytime I'm in there. Isn't that funny? Concentrating on dropping a deuce." Bart joked.
" Yeah, whatever, man. Let's just get to class." Quentin replied as the two walked.
" You're no fun, Quentin." Bart replied.
Brrrrrrrrrrr! The sound of the late bell ringing flooded the hallways.
" Oh, sorry, Quentin. Gotta run." Bart said to the boy before running to his class and leaving Quentin behind. Bart ran through the halls and into his class room.
" Wooo, made it just in time." Bart stated proudly.
" Good for you to finally join us Mr. Allen. Hank greeted the teen as he joined the class. " All right, class. We're going to continue on from where we left off yesterday. Please open your books to page fifty-nine."
The students all opened up their books and class began.
" Now, I know we've been studying particles. But who can tell me what an anti-particle is?" Hank asked.
Bart raised his hand instantly along with Broo.
" Oo, Broo, I think Mr. Allen's hand went up first. Yes, Mr. Allen?" Hank asked.
" An Antiparticle is a subatomic particle with the same mass as one of the particles of ordinary matter but opposite electric charge and magnetic moment. Thus, the positron or positively charged electron is the antiparticle of a negatively charged electron. The spinning antineutron, like the ordinary neutron, has a net electric charge of zero, but its magnetic polarity is opposite to that of a similarly spinning neutron. The neutrino, an uncharged particle that travels very close to the speed of light, spins counterclockwise as viewed from behind, whereas the antineutrino spins clockwise as viewed from behind. A particle and its antiparticle mutually react to produce energy by annihilation." Bart explained to Hank and the class in one long and very exhausting breath.
" That is all very correct. Well, done Mr. Allen." Hank said to Bart.
" Excellent work friend Allen. Truly remarkable to see a similar mind of science." Broo leaned over and whispered to Bart.
The class went by relatively quickly with Allen and Broo being the ones to interact with Hank the most and soon the end of class came.
" All right, students. you have your homework a simple two page essay on particles. Should be easy with all that we've covered today." Hank explained to the class.
A resounding groan of pain spread throughout the class as everyone but Evan, Broo, and Bart knew they were completely lost throughout the explanation earlier.
Bart packed his books up and got up from his seat and was approached by Broo.
" Oh, hey Broo. What's up?" Bart asked the small brood.
" Hello, friend Allen. Broo wondered if you'd like to do this essay together. We could further our talk about the handling of particles and annihilation together." Broo said to the boy.
" Sure, but I hope you don't mind Laurie, being with us. We were gonna go over the essay together as well." Bart replied.
" No, of course not. The more the merrier as humans say." Broo replied.
Bart nodded and the two boys walked together out of the class. As they walked however, they were approached by another member of the class a young Evan sabah nur, Genesis the genetic clone of apocalypse.
" Hey guys." Evan called out to the two.
Bart and Broo both turned and broo smiled at the grey skinned boy.
" Hello friend, Evan." Broo greeted the boy.
" Evan, what's up my man?" Bart asked.
" Do you guys think you could help me with this?" Evan asked the two boys. " I'm pretty sure I got most of it. But there's still somethings I'm not entirely sure of." Evan explained.
" Sure man, join the club. We were just about to head to lunch and discuss this anyway. One more shouldn't hurt." Bart replied.
" Thanks guys." Evan smiled and thanked the two boys and joined them on their walk towards the schools cafeteria.
The trio made their way into the schools and Bart looked over to see Laurie sitting with cessily/mercury, Hisako/Armor, Megan/pixie, Idie, Noriko, and sooraya. Bart turned to his two new friends and nodded for them to follow him to the table.
Bart walked up behind the girl and wrapped his arms around her waist making her jump in surprise. " Oh, you idiot. You scared me." Laurie said to the boy
Bart laughed and kissed her on the cheek before taking a seat next to her. " Sorry about that I couldn't help myself. Hey, I'm sure you know these guys by now. Evan, Broo this is Laurie. Laurie, Evan and Broo." Bart introduced the two boys to the young girl as they took a seat at the table.
" Hello, Friend Laurie. It is nice to make your acquaintance." Broo said to the young girl. " And it is nice to see you as well, Idie. How are you doing today?" Broo turned and asked the young lady.
" I'm doing just fine today, Broo. Did you enjoy Mr. Mccoy's class?" Idie asked.
Broo smiled and practically jumped in his seat. " Oh, it was most exciting. Friend Allen, is true friend of science as I am. He actually agreed to work on our homework together. I look forward to seeing more of how his fast-paced mind operates." Broo explained to the young woman.
" Wait? You understand all that science gibberish Mccoy and Broo speak?" Noriko asked Bart as she and the other girls turned their attention to the conversation.
" I don't see why you think it is so hard Noriko." Sooraya said to the girl.
" Oh, be quiet burqa girl." Noriko replied angrily.
" Actually." Bart interjected. " That's an abaya with a niqab veil for her face. Just wanted to clear that up." Bart explained.
" Oh, are you familiar with Muslim culture, Bart?" Sooraya asked joyfully.
" A little. I like to study other cultures in case I meet someone. That way I can be as respectful to them as possible you know." Bart replied.
" Cool, you know culture. But do you know how to do this stuff Mccoy asked us to do?" Noriko asked again.
" Yeah, it's pretty easy stuff. Even before I got my powers, I was kind of a science whiz. Been working on a special theory of mine too." Bart explained to the girl. He then turned to Broo and spoke. " Actually Broo, I was hoping I could get your input on it as well. Perhaps with your help I can finally fully crack this code." Bart asked the boy.
" Oh, I'd be most delighted to Help Friend Allen." Broo replied enthusiastically.
" That's amazing! Think you could help us too?" Megan asked the two boys.
" I don't see why not. We've already got three what's a few more to the group. What about you, Laurie? Do you need help with Mr. Mccoy's homework too?" Bart asked the girl.
" Nah, I finished mine after second period. I'm more focused on this letter from Hope." Laurie replied.
" Hope? She wrote you? I haven't seen or heard from her since the battle. How's she doing?" Bart asked.
" She's trying to be normal, but she finds it well just as difficult as a someone who's been trained all her life would. But she says she enjoys it." Laurie explained to the boy.
' So, she's happy. Good. I'm glad there's something good to come from that whole mess.' Bart thought to himself. " I'm glad to hear she's safe." Bart said before kissing Laurie on the cheek. Bart then turned and spoke to the others, " All right, you guys ready to bust this out real quick?" Bart asked as he pulled out his textbook and his notebook.
Megan, Evan, Cessily, Noriko, Sooraya, Broo, Idie, and Hisako all pulled out their books as well and started going over the homework.
After finishing the group of students went their separate ways but not before exchanging numbers with one another.
" Finally, some alone time. I thought they'd never leave." Laurie complained.
Bart snickered and kissed the girl's cheek as they walked down the halls of the institute. " They aren't that bad. I mean it was fun having people to do this with. Makes homework a little bit more interesting." Bart replied.
" Yeah, well you can do it in a few seconds." Laurie replied.
" Yeah, but hey. Sometimes I like to take things a little slow. Makes the moment all the more important." Bart explained to the girl.
Laurie looked at Bart and cracked a smile at the boy. " Well, I'm glad to see you making friends. It seems like Broo, and Evan really like you. Especially Broo." Laurie said to the boy.
" Yeah, they're both pretty awesome. So are the girls though. I mean Hisako's pretty smart herself and Sooraya is quite a treat. And of course, it's great to see Idie again. But I do wonder how the others are doing. I know Teon seems to be just fine. But I haven't spoke to Gabriel much since they got here." Bart explained to the girl.
" We can always go see them. I don't think they're in class right now." Laurie suggested.
" Nah, I'm sure we'll see them later." Bart replied. " Oh, did you hear about Prom next month?" Bart asked.
" Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I know Broo is too." Laurie replied.
" What do you mean?" Bart asked in confusion.
" You mean you didn't notice at all?" Laurie asked and Bart shook his head no. " Broo had his eyes on Idie the whole time. The little guy's practically in love." Laurie explained to Bart.
" Really? Guess I was so distracted I didn't notice it. Hope everything works out for the little guy." Bart stated.
" Me too. So, what do you have planned for the rest of the day?" Laurie asked.
" Well, I was hoping we could just spend the day together." Bart replied.
Laurie linked arms with Bart and leaned her head on his shoulder as they continued walking. " I like the sound of that." Laurie said to Bart.
Bart and Laurie took their time making their way to the garden on the Insitute's back yard and sat near the flower bed simply talking and watching the flowers until a hard-headed telepath came crashing down in front of them.
Laurie yelled and jumped into Bart's lap as Julian better known as Hellion crashed down in front of them.
" Dude, you bit it hard man." Bart joked as Julian rubbed his sore head.
" Don't laugh at me man, that damn living lawn just threw me." Julian complained about Krakoa.
" Who? Krakoa? He's a nice guy. he wouldn't just throw someone." Bart said to the boy.
" What did you do?" Laurie asked.
Julian looked up at the girl offended by her accusations. " Why do you think I did something?" Julian asked.
" Because Krakoa doesn't just attack someone for nothing. So, what did you do?" Laurie asked again.
" Well, I might have pissed on the flowers." Julian replied.
Bart bust out laughing and Laurie cringed at Julians declaration of relieving himself on the flowers.
" Dude, you got what you deserved." Bart joked.
" Oh, come on man. How would I know the damn living rock would react like that?" Julian responded as he dusted himself off.
" How about by using common sense and not using the restroom outside?" Laurie recommended to the boy. "Ugh! Come on Bart, I wanna go inside now. Julian ruined it." Laurie said to the boy as she got to her feet.
Bart got to his feet and laughed. " Okay, it's getting late anyway. How about we go out tomorrow?" Bart asked the girl.
" I'd love too." Laurie replied. " Now, let's get out of here before Krakoa eats Julian." Laurie added on.
Bart nodded and picked Laurie up and ran her inside, dodging and weaving through the man students still roaming the halls.
" Thank you, Bart." Laurie told the boy as Bart placed her down in front of her room.
" No, problem Laurie. So, what do you say we leave tomorrow around four?" Bart asked
Laurie wrapped her arms around Bart's neck and kissed him. Bart in turn put his hands on Laurie's waist and pulled Laurie closer. The two sat outside her room for a minute just taking the time to enjoy their sweet embrace until Laurie needed to retreat for air. " I think that sounds amazing." Laurie replied before walking into her room.
Bart smiled and turned to walk to his room. " Man, this is great! I can't get over this. This is awesome!" Bart exclaimed as he walked towards his room. It was a relatively short walk as Bart had been lost in his thoughts, once he got inside, he sat down at his desk and pulled out his notes on the equation his father had left behind. " Been a while since I've taken a solid look at this. Still hard to believe it's been what about five months since the accidents? Man, time sure does fly doesn't it." Bart said to himself. He strapped in and got to work on his father's equation and the rest is history.
