Similar worlds with codes in a similar pattern (W3, W4, W5, etc.) will continue to be released. But in between, I will also release Arc 2 of the Old Worlds that will further their stories. The final chapter pattern is W#.A# - #] ____________________________________________________________________ https://www.patreon.com/PenOfChaos ____________________________________________________________________

W1.A1-28: Dumbfounded Mother

Lena looked at the two, as one was giving her an encouraging glance while another was observing her curiously.

She was speechless.

'Are you really going to act like that never happened?' She thought to herself.

But following my gesture, she still moved towards us, arriving in front of my mother.

Appearing a bit nervous, she lowered her head and bowed slightly. "Hello, Madam," she began with a greeting. "I apologize for doing that to you earlier; it was this bast- uh, your son who told me to do that. I hope you can forgive me." Her tone was a little nervous, as however strong and brave she might be, it was still a new experience to meet your boyfriend's parents, especially the mother.

"How sweet." My mother smiled at Lena's words before she moved forward and pulled her upward. Holding her hands within hers, my mother examined her closely before a frown appeared on her face.

Just as Lena was getting nervous due to her reaction, my mother suddenly asked, her expression serious, "Girl, are you sure you like him?"

Lena's expression stiffened; she thought that my mother was asking if she was truly serious about our relationship.

Immediately nodding her head like a rattle, Lena hurriedly agreed, "Of course I do." Thinking that she didn't sound reassuring enough, Lena added in all seriousness, "He's an important part of my life, and I love him more than myself."

"So, he's not the most important?" My mother suddenly asked.

But Lena didn't flinch at her question. Matching her gaze with my mother's, she said, "I care about him more than I do for myself, but similar to how he loves you the most, I also cannot forget about the one who gave birth to me."

My mother gazed at her deeply before chuckling. Turning to look at me, my mother smiled. "I like this girl."

Moving her gaze back on Lena, my mother patted her shoulder. "It's a good thing to love and respect your parents."

But somehow, my mother's words made her frown. "Not my parents, only my mother." After speaking, she realized that she was probably being rude, so she lowered her head, her expression a bit dim.

I sighed at her reaction. Knowing the true reason behind it, I didn't have the heart to blame her. Keeping my gaze on them, I advanced forward.

My mother had also realized that maybe her words had somehow made the young lady sad. But she was experienced enough to not repeat them, even in an apology.

But before she could say something else to handle the depressed expression on my sad girlfriend's face, I had already appeared by their side.

Wrapping my hands around Lena's shoulders, I pulled her towards my chest. "She's quite the stunner, isn't she?" I grinned at my mother while appearing a little smug.

A faint blush appeared on Lena's pretty face; her previous gloom faded away.

My praise made her feel a bit embarrassed, as although I had never let go of any chance to express my love for her, praising her in front of someone else was still a first, especially when it was my mother.

"Che! What are you strutting around for?" My mother gave me a disdainful glance before looking at Lena. "We have to be thankful that this beauty was probably not in her right mind when she agreed to become your girlfriend; you should thank my genes too!"

I was speechless, and so was Lena. My mother was really something when she decided to be mischievous.

But her words did bring a smile to Lena's face as she giggled like a young lady her age should.

"You two look good together!" My mother had a happy smile on her face. At the moment, she was experiencing a bliss that she had never thought she wanted. But seeing her son like this really made her feel happy and at ease.

"Now, then." My mother's expression suddenly turned serious while also being a bit weird. "When are you going to explain to me what the hell has just happened here?" She was clearly talking about the banquet that was still going on.

"Well…" Lena and I shared a glance before I began to tell my mother about the events that had led the situation to arrive at this point.

It took a few minutes to properly explain everything, including the details of my real identity and status in the capital.

After I had finished my explanation, my mother stood there with a dumbfounded expression on her face. She took a while to process my words.

"You mean to say… your master is a Sword Saint?" That was the first question my mother was able to ask. After all, the two words that we mentioned casually were considered legendary in the whole kingdom, let alone in such small towns as ours.

My mother would have been satisfied even if I had become the student of an apprentice-class expert. But hearing that I myself was a master swordsman and the disciple of a sword saint, she didn't know how to react. These concepts were too far out of reach for a common person like her.

"I can rest assured now." Although there were many things that she didn't understand about her son, she didn't feel estranged in any way either; she was only happy for what he had achieved. "I hope to see you two always remain happy like this." Giving her blessings, she showed a motherly smile.

"What are you talking about, madam?" It was Lena who spoke. "Of course you'll be able to see us like this; after all, you are also coming with us to the capital."

"Huh? But…"

"What?" I approved of Lena's words. "Are you still thinking of that as a joke?"

"No, but…"

"No buts!" I refused to listen to her excuses anymore. She was really getting a bit too willful about taking risks. I decided that from that moment on, I would have to keep her under my gaze lest she cause more trouble for herself.

"Darn it!" My mother cursed while looking at my expression. "Do you think I'm a child or what?" Her tone was a bit pouty. She then showed a helpless expression on her face. "I know you are worried about me, Danny, but I can't just abandon our house and property." She showed a wise look and continued, "Besides, no matter how powerful you are, you will still require money, right?" My mother looked satisfied as she looked at the bewildered expressions that had appeared on our faces. "So you don't have to worry about me; just go and do your job, uh, whatever it is, and leave the management of our business and mansion to me."

Hearing her words, Lena and I exchanged a glance. Both of us had weird expressions on our faces as our cheeks twitched.

"Pfft~!"

Finally, Lena couldn't hold on anymore as she let loose a string of laughter, which prompted me to let go of my restraint as I, too, began to laugh.

My mother became bewildered as she looked at the two of us.

"Did I say something wrong?"
