Killing raptors

" How should we deal with Raptors?" Sitting in front of the Campfire, Lisa, with a worried expression, asked the group.

" I know that would be a significant issue, but the best we can do is use the broken down wood and wood sticks, tie them together and hope that there is enough support." Richard slowly replied.

" That could work, lets gather up wood and see how strong these shields can be"

The group quickly got up and started to work; slowly, a shield was made.

Made with about 20 woods, hand to hand and tightly tied by many ropes, the shield was about 3 feet tall and about 16 inches wide.

Placing the shield and laying it on a rock, AL grabbed a spear, and about 5 meters away, he threw it at the sheld with full strength.

Soon the group had reached the edge of the barrier.

About 20 meters away from them were two Raptors. One was laying on the ground; one of the raptors had a spear coming out of its leg and would lick that wound site as blood would drift out of it. Noticing something, the other raptors got up a looked at the barrier that prevented them from entering.

For the past day, these Raptors had been waiting; every time they had noticed something around that part of the area, this raptor would have checked.

At this moment, he saw six figures coming out and planting something on the ground.

Clearly, these raptors were smart and believed that this new prey they hunted was easy meat; with out a second thought, the raptors growled at the other raptor and rushed out.

Al and company had just finished creating a wall when they noticed loud growls. Turning their sights towards sounds, the group started to move.

Noticing the raptors, Al started to give out directions.

" Richard, take the middle shield, Elena! April! take the other two shields on the side."

The three quickly rushed over to their assigned shields.

" Make sure you guys, especially you Richard, do not waver, Hold strong."

Soon the raptor was right upon them and had started its jump.

" Shields on top! now!"

Quickly, Al, Paul, and Peter grabbed their shields and placed them horizontally on top of the other shields.

At that moment, the time had slowed down. Under the shield, everyone was breathing hard, waiting, and hoping.

Richards had closed his eyes and started to pray. " Lord be with us."

At this point, Elena and April had their eyes closed and were shaking as if death was upon them.

Hearing his shouts, the group grabbed the spears next to them and lunged at the raptor.

Soon six spears had been lunged into the raptor, but it was still alive, barely handing on.

Al quickly took one of the spears out of the raptor and prepared to throw it at its head.

Noticing this and making one last attack, the raptors swang it's tailed and landed a direct hit on Al's chest, pushing him out of the energy barrier; at the same moment, Paul had already speared the raptor in the next.

Just then, a loud Scream was heard.

Allllll!

Al, who had just hit the floor, quickly looked over at the sound and saw both girls, with a fearful look.

It was just the girls that yells had directed everyone's attention and at the moment, had a grime look.

Al quickly turned around and about a shoulder-length away. He saw a pair of teethes, opened and coming towards his neck.

It was the wounded raptor, one that was forgotten, and the one that was about shoulder length away from ripping Al's neck off.
