Engagement!

"This is excellent, Everything is exactly the same as I remember

Huh? Wait?

My Voice, why is it like this?"

Kaen questioned to himself with a confused expression, before gazing at his hands and body.

"My hands have also become thinner and smaller compared to before"

"Wait!" Kaen's eyes widened as a realization dawned upon him. "Has my body become the same age as it was when I used to live here with my mother?"

Kaen smiled as he mused to himself: "This world after death is interesting"

"Now, what am I supposed to do?" Kaen pondered.

*knock* *knock*

However, he didn't have to think for long as a knock accompanied by a female voice came from outside: "Kaen, open up, I have something to discuss with you"

Kaen, in a flash recognized, who this voice belonged to as he rushed to open the door of the shed, shouting: "Mother!"

In his sight appeared a woman with hair as blue as the sky and eyes as deep as the sea.

She stood at 1.68 meters (5'5") tall, her waist-length hair cascading down her back.

Despite her natural beauty and elegance, her face bore the pallor of illness and malnutrition.

Kaen jumped into her arms like a baby as soon as he opened the door.

Although, His mother opened her arms to lift him, however, she couldn't due to her illness.

Kaen gazed at his mother and she was also the same as he remembered, however, she was suffering from her illness even now.

"Why did this world have to imitate my mother's illness too?

Isn't this too realistic? It is as if I have returned to the Past"

Kaen thought to himself before a strict female voice reached his ears, scolding him.

"Even though you know that your mother is ill, you act like a child, jumping into her arms like that. My daughter was right, we should break off this engagement!"

Kaen turned to look at the woman to whom the voice belonged. A woman with a ponytail, adorned in a brown suit with brown eyes and brunette hair. She appeared to be in her late thirties.

Standing beside her was a girl, appearing to be thirteen with the same style as the older woman. Same Ponytail, however, her pink frock made her different, with the hair and eye color similar.

Kaen's mother heard this comment as she attempted to stop them: "No, Miss Jen. He hadn't seen me for some time, hence, he got excited. Don't break off the engagement over something like this."

These two were Jen Nolan and her daughter Vani Nolan, who were here to break off the engagement of Kaen and Vani.

Kaen was the Illegitimate son of Baron Blake and thus he suffered in this shithole where he took care of the Blake Barony's horses.

It was only his mother who cared about him, otherwise, he was just considered a servant by the Barony staff and family.

Baron Blake, his father had died at a young age only after two years of his birth.

Kaen's father and mother, both were childhood lovers, however, due to his mother's commoner status, his father couldn't marry his mother.

His father had three official sons who were all older than Kaen. Their mother couldn't receive the love of Kaen's father due to his mother, hence she hated her and was always creating problems for Kaen and her.

In the past, Kaen had endured the suffering due to his mother, however, she also died due to her illness before he turned sixteen. It was only then, he left his house, beginning his journey to become the world's strongest.

This Jen Nolan was from a well-off family from the village nearby, and it was she who proposed this marriage, wanting to get close to the Baron family, however, after seeing that Kaen was treated like a servant and didn't have a bright future, they decided to break off this engagement.

"Oh, now I remember. This was the time when my engagement with this girl got canceled. I think I was fifteen at that time. Therefore, This body must be from my fifteen-year-old self." Kaen deduced as he remembered this incident.

Jen shook her head as she explained: "Ms. Freya, you should understand our situation. As a parent, I want the best partner for my beautiful Vani."

Freya nodded in agreement as she insisted: "Indeed, you are right and I think Kaen would be best for Vani"

Jen shook her head in disagreement: "Ms Freya, sorry but I don't think the same. We have got an engagement offer from the Logh Triplets household who have three knights from their family serving Count Nadino.

They are aura knights and are renowned as the trident of the Nadino Knights. Sir HighLogh's son is interested in marrying our Vani and I think he would be the best partner for her"

Freya wanted to retort, however, couldn't. Anyone would choose the household that had aura knights in them. She couldn't say that Kaen was superior to them.

"So you want to break off the engagement right?" Kaen's voice reached Jen's ears as she looked at him.

She nodded as she said with a smile: "That is correct and It wouldn't help even if you cried right now"

Kaen nodded, speaking: "Alright, You can break off the engagement. It is good that you came to break it off, otherwise, I would've broken it myself. I never liked this girl"

"WHAT??" Jen questioned with a loud shout in disbelief.

However, she calmed herself as she snorted: "Hmph, Who are you trying to fool, You would always follow her left and right, wanting to play with her"

Kaen nodded in agreement as he looked at Jen with a mocking smile: "Does wanting to play with her makes me want to marry her? I just found her face funny like a pig, so I would pass the time with her. She was just a source of entertainment to me"

This time Vani became angry at her insult, retorting: "Then, what about the time when you said you wanted to marry me?"

Kaen made an incredulous expression, answering: "I was just a child then, Do you think, I understood what marriage meant?"

Jen made an angry face, Showing the palm of her hand: "Enough! If you don't want this marriage to happen, then we will take our leave. Also, Ms. Freya, don't worry, I will make sure to invite you to Vani's wedding"

Saying that, both of them left.
